View Full Version : The Supernatural - Believer or Non Believer?
Well, I thought I'd keep in with the Halloween spirit!
So, ghosts, witches, aliums, all that caper - do you believe in it?
I personally do, and I don't know why. I guess it could be a want for there to be something after this life, or there to be something more to the world than just Born, Live, Die.
I believe the spirit carries on, definitely in the hearts of loved ones. But on a 'higher level?' I don't know. Do we get to see God or the Devil when we die? I don't know, but I don't believe in Heaven or Hell. I believe in just one place where everyone goes, we have no right to separate the 'good' from the 'bad,' especially when those who were doing 'bad' might've been doing 'good' in their eyes.
But anyways, thats more of a religious thing.
Ghosts!
I sure as hell believe in them! I would say I've seen one, but I just don't know if thats true or not. Most things are like a corner of the eye type thing aren't they?
Aliums!
They DEFINITELY exist. We CAN NOT be the only place in the entire universe that has got Spandau Ballet, Credit Cards, Fridge Magnets, French, Remote Controls and those funny looking dogs with short legs!
But do 'they' visit us?
Sure, but how come they can, but we can't? Are we just thick shits?
And go on, lets make this REALLY Halloweeny.
Tell the story of the scariest thing that EVER happened to you!
I would, but I'm too tired, so will do later!

I do believe in the Supernatural for several reasons. There's been a lot of ghost things that have remained unexplained. People believe Area 51 is there for a reason other than just being a place without a name. There's been some kinda weird hairy thing wandering around in forests in the states and places like that...etc.
Okay, maybe that's not a very good personal reason to believe in The Supernatural but I've always believed in it. I guess it's just something that really makes me think because there is possibilities with this kinda thing.
believe area fifty one is the den of lies theres aliens there why else would they have it what weps testing no thats what area 34 is for so i gotts believe in super natural plus hauntings have been proven so many time but it is not scientific to those who arent curios enough and a little imaginable to beleive in that stuff
There's been some kinda weird hairy thing wandering around in forests in the states and places like that...etc.
hah thats called Tharrick :P
Personally on a slightly spookier note I DO believe very much in both ghosts and aliens. I'm a 'I'll believe it when I see it' kinda guy but ghosts are just one of those thing i know for definate must and are there.
As for aliens I know they definatly should exist and if they dont well then thats bollocks. I'm not sure whether they visit us though im still pretty undecided about that one.
I would love to see whats up with the behmuda triangle!!!
If I didn't believe in the ghosts then I would just be a crazy guy that talks to the space beside him! >.>
Naw, really I just don't believe in all that sorta thing. Never have and never will.
If I ever SEE a ghost or alien then I'll slap the feck outta it, or run. Whatever comes first.
i often get subtle messages from my gran on the other side. when i got my exam results, i was crying, because i always knew she wanted to be there cause she was so proud of me (damnit i'm crying typing this) and i got in the car, and a song that she loved and used to dance with me to came on the radio. i think that was he way of letting me know she was there, like she always wanted. sure, could have been coincidence, but its happened loads of times, and to be honest, i want to believe more than anything else.
thats sweet, that is, Katie :)

My rant, don't take my seriosuly.
<rant>
Area 51 is only top secret because it's where the US test their black budget military planes xD that's the place where stuff such as the SR-11 was tested. They set up there because it's so remote, 90 miles north of Las Vegas (And trust me, xD it's pretty remote out there, endless expanses of nothingness, we almost got hit by a enormous tumbleweed while we were driving up around there ; ; PS. Las Vegas = tacky-ness to the max x_x)
Uh, anyway >_>
Ghosts: Yesh, I believe in ghosts, I'm one of those people who believes in life after death so it makes sense to me, I believe in the spirit and soul and stuff like that. Plus my Dad always likes to freak me out telling stories about ghosts he's seen (and heard as well) I can't remember them off the top of my head, and I don't want to fluff them up and fail to do them justice by trying to do it from memory =/
Aliens is a bit different. For life to exist (at least as far as we know) you'd need to have a setup of planets pretty much exactly as we do in our solar system, and it's only by fluke that we exist because of the way our planets have evolved. Out of the thousand and bajillion other galexies out there and outside out Milky Way, I'm pretty sure there must be at least another that fits the same as ours, and life has evolved there. I find it hard to believe over the million upon million planets and stars there are out in the various universes that we, on our tiny planet earth, are the only ones there. Kinda freaky that there's probably another creature out there, on a distant planet, maybe even thinking the same thing.
Aliens coming to earth I find far fetched. Aliens and their UFO's? I don't think so XD. But that's just me.
Other supernatural things like the Lochness monster? I believe in them, but not becuase their supernatural, but because they're nature. Things evolve all the time. Kraken and giant squid? They exist, just not large enough to swallow ships, but mutations occur in nature all the time, giant squid are huge as it is, I'm sure it wouldn't take more then several decades and you could end up with freaking huge squid xD
Around where I live there's a story about a cat dark as shadows that appears at night and rips the throats out of sheep and cattle. It's true. Some panther, cougar or mountain lion got free and roams the country side taking it's pick from cows, sheep and anything else it gets lucky on. Makes for a goood story though =D

No, no, no! We're the only race in the WHOLE universe with bad enough taste to have developed Spandau Ballet and the French.

Ghosts - Yef! I believe in them, I have done for a long time now. I believe in life after death, but I also believe that somewhere along the way, for some reason, you don't always go on that way, for example, if you are murdered? Well they say on horror films that they have "unfinished business" so I think that's why they are still here.
Aliens - I'm not sure. There probably ARE lifeforms on other planets, after all, there's been life on ours for however long it is. They would be the same as us in that they would evolve and mutate over time. I wouldn't say I DISbelieve in them, but I just don't know.

Aeyze, good rant there, wouldn't call it one, but it was a good read :)
We learnt in biology that giant squid aren't actually giant squid, but they live in the parts of the ocean where the pressure is so much (the 3 mile deep trench in the atlantic ocean) that they are actually the size of any normal squid, but on the occasion that they do swim out of those depths, they expand to be so large. So yah, thats not a mutation, its nature and physics.

Watching the news, I was. I heard that some Japanese Scientists got a look at a giant tentacle deep, deep, DEEP in the ocean....Yeah, ponder about that for a while, homedogs. But yeah, I believe in the Supernatural. Or maybe I'm just hoping that there's stuff there that you can't see. Or like, something that comes after death.
As far as aliens go, I think it'd be wrong NOT to believe in 'em. I mean, you might not think that we have any "hard" evidence, but we sure as hell don't have none at all. Yeah, sometimes some idiots throw a plate up in the air and snapshot it, then run around and claim they saw an alien, but there are other cases where we have no way at all to define what they are. And I'm hoping they're aliens, and I'm hoping their evolved. Because I think one of the worst things ever to find out is that we are alone. I don't know about anyone else here, but to know that in this infinite universe, this vastly vast thing, there's nothing out that can flash a light as a message, or send back a transmission, or invite us over for milk and cookies, well...that's just kind of depressing...

warning!! i rant alot in here about religion!!!
well i dont believe in such halloween spooks, there probably just nightmares people dreamt up. ghosts i doubht are real, they make for pretty good stories and movies but arn't all to believeable.
the chances of having extra terestrail life is pretty good. i heard theres about 10 other planets with life, accourding to calculations and percentages.(thats what i heard anyways) the "aliens" might even only turn out to be some sort of fish in the end.
now about the afterlife, me myself am an atheist. I believe after death you rot in a coffen(i no pleasent sounding isnt it). but im a factual sort of person. to me god is nothing. no entity no person or "spirit thingy".
rant start
I think religion was soley created as a crutch and a form of guidence. it gave hope to the hopeless and put people in line.(ex. if ur not "good" god will smite you.) It also created rules and regulations. this kept waring relitively low and made room for advancements. It sparked hope for mankind. I'm not saying people are wrong to believe in religion. they are just believeing in it for the wrong reason. dont go to the church to better yourself or think ur pleaseing god. go there to help others. No war is holy! If some believe im condeming myself for saying these things then i dont care. If there is a god do not worship them or pay them much heed at all. sacrifice nothing for them, instead sacrifice for family and freinds. If there is a god who wants sacrifices from people, id like to condem them right now. no god would want harm of another or poor treatment of them. a true god would only want the best of the people and them to work to their best. A true god would not care of their own exsistence!!
rant over
any comments/questions???????

Ghosts are actually real. They have them on reality TV shows that turn out to be fake. Not mentioning anybody though, but I'm sure you've heard.
Ghosts in movies are just blah. A guy with a blanket pretending he's scary is just so 1889 you know. Plus, it's disrespectful to real ghosts. Ghosts is rather offensive. Please refer to them as spirits.

hm.... good pionts are being pionted out form ghost to region to aliens for some reasens mmy oppinion is that ghosts are spirits that takes the image of an dead person it really doesn't mean it is that person your look'in at as a ghost
even though this thread might be old I want to be a part of it
Thats funny... it hasn't even come close to halloween here yet lol!
But I do believe in ghosts... afterlife etc... I think that the afterlife will just be like... errrm can't really explain it. To me it would be like a dream... You have good ones and also bad ones. It's just a whole lot of emotions... and not really anything else. I also don't believe in the devil... ¬_¬ I bet he was just created to scare people into being good. because whats the use of torturing dead people!?! if theyre dead they can't die... If they can't die then why would they care about pain? Isn't pain something that humans developed by evolution to enhance their defence system. Also it wouldn't matter because you wouldn't need a defence system to stay alive when your dead lol!

I personally believe in the supernatural...possibly because I don't want DEATH to be the end of anything... death could just mean the ending of one chapter and the begininng of another or it could be start of another 're-birth' and I know that all lifes questions about 'life after death' probably won't get answered because to answer that question you'd have to be dead yourself. I think anyone is free to think what they want. But there's a big difference to praying to your god/s and forcing those beliefs on other people. I'm not a big fan of christianity simply because of the fact that most christian religions force their beliefs on people. I would feel this way if Budhism were forced on me or whatever religion. But overall people should have the freedom to express their beliefs only if it doesn't impose on those of others.

Although I am a Christian, I am a believer of the supernatural. I believe in numinous, religious experiences and things like ghosts and visions. I've always believed in this kind of stuff ever since I've seen people in my family die.
Personally, I do beleive in some aspects of the supernatural. For instance, I do beleive that we each have a guardian spirit but I'm undecided on angels yet dont beleive in God but do beleive there is something controlling our lives but only partially.

Well, I believe in ghosts, but nothing else. Someone I know once tried to cast witchcraft on me. She was saying things like "I'll curse you and do blah blah with bleh bleh and you'll be cursed", then she started talking in weird languages. I just kind of... left =P lol
Anyway, I've seen ghosts myself... honestly. I've heard ghosts. I've come in verbal contact with ghosts. I don't know how, why or anything, but I know it wasn't my imagination. It's not your imagination when everyone in the house is affected by it and they all hear it too. When I first moved into my house I live in now a few years ago, my TV and PS2 started up by themselves, and they weren't even plugged in.
Shortly after my step father wrongfully left this life, I had a dream with him in it and at the end of the dream he started hitting a spoon against this glass bell, and he said "Tell your mother about this". So the next day I called my mother and told her about it, and she started crying. When I asked her what's wrong, she told me she prayed the night before that if my step father was watching over her, to ring this bell she had hanging over her bed in her room.
I'm weird.
I really don't know yet. I do believe that there are guardian angels because I be hearing voices sometimes. It's really spooky. *shudders*

I hope it is ok to bump this.I used to not believe in ghosts and spirits, but I have now changed my mind. All because of an incident that occured back in June.I woke in the middle of the night and could have sworn there was a person sitting at the foot of my bed, looking at me. This person\\\'s feet were up and their arms around their knees. One moment they were there, the next they were gone. I could tell it was a guy, but not quite sure what he looked like. The next night, same thing. He was back again sitting there watching me.I struggled with it for a few days and told my half sister about it. We were trying to figure out who it might have been, and I believe it was either one of two people, as I did not feel afraid of the spirit and felt I knew him somehow. An ex of mine was killed in November 2005 and I have been upset about his death for quite a few months ((I did not know he was killed until April of 2006)). We figured it was either him, or it could have been my child that had died two years prior of a miscarriage. In any case I had been told by someone very close to me that the spirit was there to watch over me, and possibly protect me.Since then I have been seriously considering there are such things as ghosts and spirits.

Hum...yes, I believe in the ''supernatural'', in a way.
Because I am of the opinion that, simply because one cannot understand or apply logic to a mystery, this does not mean that it cannot be explained. We must accept that as humans, we do not have a grasp on everything that is.
I do believe in ghosts, but to me, there must be a logical reason as to their existence.
I say this because througout history, ghosts and the like have been present, and their lore has survived through myth and tales.
But such things are apparent of human nature, that is to adapt an explanation to something to cover the fact of ignorence, such as being able to come back from the dead.
The attributes to the existence of such things is much to steeped in human nature, which, although bold of anyone to say, voids that possibility.
There are some theories about ghosts which might make some sense, such as a subconscious obbsesion or grief manifesting itself. This would explain ''famous'' ghosts we all know of. This as well coupled with the theory that time is a ''thing''.
But even so, to understand any of these things, mankind would have to fully understand how every part of the human brain works, and why, as well as actually define what time is, weather it is a real thing or a spawn of philosophy.
Very well, this goes of track, but my point stands. I cannot be satisfied with tales, or distorded facts based on myth. I accept there are things I can never know, such as ghosts or spirits.
But I do believe, no, I am convinced there is some logical explanation to this.

Hmm. Let's just say that I'm a.. Thinker. After many years spent, thinking on vast amounts of random stuff (the paranormal and supernatural included, ofcourse) my mind has become slightly, should I say, ****ed up. I'm not quite sure what I really do belive anymore, wheather I am religious or not and if there really are supernatural things (now, I belive many different kinds of fear and old habit prevent people to think in different ways, so there is probably a fully logical explanation to 'supernatural' things but people are unable to see it because of the ways they have been taught). In my mind, though, absolutely anything is possible. It's just the simple brain which is unable to understand it, in the same way as it cannot understand the meaning with 'infinite'.
To put it short; I don't know wheather I belive in the supernatural or not.

Well one reason that hiss mind is slightly.. ****ed up.. is probably because he hangs out with me.. Because I'm a pure Mind****er xD...
Well I'll tell you that I do belive in the supernatural.. Depends on how you look at it of course I don't believe in EVERYTHING.. But I do belive that there is alot more than the simple eye can see and the simple ear can hear.. I know for sure that the human mind, human eye and human ear is capable of seeing and hearing everything around us.. Let's put it this way.. A cat can both see and hear things we can't.. A mouse can hear more frekwent(sp?) sounds than we humans can.. But they can't hear the really low frekwent sounds as we can.. or even the ones Dogs can hear (which we can).. We have to use different tools to measure energies and other stuff of the kind..
What I'm trying to say is that I believe there is alot more than we can ever figure out in this world.. After all.. We're only humans.. we're not supposed to know everything=)..
i am a no beliver beause ghost are not real when i see one then i will belive
