I thought it would be good to make a thread about Emulation. I currently only have NES, SNES, and GBA emulators and roms. I have a bunch of Roms for NES, and SNES, but i am finding it difficlt to get GBA Roms. On my old computer i got a PS1 and N64 Emulators to work. PS1 i needed the actuall PS CD but for N64 i downloaded MArio 64. But i do not have them anymore. If you have any Emulators or Roms post which ones you have. :)

I have an emulator for every system you can think of (besides atari and master system and such... just from like 1990 on). The only 2 I have not been able to find decent versions of are PS2 and X-Box. I've found crappy ones, but none that work well.

Oh, and it's common knowlege that a PSP emulator doesn't exist yet, the still need to decode it.

can you give me a decent site to download GBA, and N64 roms. Havent found a good site with actual N64 roms yet.

and btw, do you need a 64 emulator? cuz I've got that, just no games

all the other stuffs on my other comp, wich is at my moms house, so I'll get back to you

Emulation Unlimited is pretty good - http://www.emuv2.com/index.php I found some nice GBA roms there, and some other ones, too. I've downloaded one Xbox emulator, but I can't get it to work, there's meant to be a demo version of Halo 2 on it, but this emulator isn't the full version, that could be why. I play my GBA emulator a bit, not that much, only when I hear of a new game which I want i'll try to find it and play it, xP.

I got a Commodore 64, NES, SNES, Master System, Genesis, WonderSwan, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo 64, PSX en a DOS emulator. It's great that I can now play RPGs that weren't released here (Chrono Cross, Xenogears) en the DOS emulator allows me to play Jazz Jackrabbit again :p

you might want to look at www.emuGP.com which has ALL GBA ROMS and a lot of NES, SNES and N64 Roms

The site require registering (guest account availble) and voting(once a day only) and has it's own (java-based) download system.
the system supports file resuming so keep your download screen open since it'll sometime deliver only a partial file but when you resume (it can happen multiple times) it'll eventually download the complete file!

since i've got a GBA flash cart (EZ-Flash III) i'm not using emulators anymore but i'm playing using the cart in my GBA... and i've got some originals... all the games that are worth playing for a long time are worth to buy... support the makers by buying the original (if possible :D) so they can make even more good games!!!

well ow I just have GBA (Visual Boy Advanced, best there is) and an N64 one that's okay. but as good as I know my CPU is I don'
t think it will handle a PSX emulater I heard they were really demanding. Besides I have any good PSX games that I liked. but I just downloaded Visual Boy Advance 1.7 (or 7.1 whatever) and it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Improved it totaly rocks. I haven't seen a better one yet.

Hm ive learned not to use emulators and ROMS ive tried lots in my time and only one ahs ever worked.... most the time it screws systems up.... its not worth the hassel if you ask me

Scott

I use them all the time and it works fine for me. ^_^

I think they are well worth the time. :D

Deknor

Heh. I find them to be well worth the time if I can play them on my xbox...otherwise...BLEH!

It's easier and sometimes there are advantages (for GBA, bigger screens or rather whatever size you want + you can save, using the F1 - F10 buttons, the game during any time you want, so you don't have to go turn it off and reload, just press F(whatever you saved it in) and yeah), but also disadvantages such as the "cheats" where you press certain buttons, restart game or something and then some crap happens - you can't do them with emulators, xP.

I guess that's the downfall. Still they're pretty useful.

Matt
03-08-2005, 04:13
I prefer owning the original consoles myself

Dale Anthony
03-08-2005, 04:16
Well, if you can't exactly get your hands on a console at the time, then an Rom is pretty good fun for the meantime I guess.

Matt
03-08-2005, 04:38
yea that's true, but I can :D

Dale Anthony
03-08-2005, 04:38
I'm aware you can Matty lol.

Matt
03-08-2005, 04:41
well good then lol, I used to do Emulators and roms a few years back but they gave me too many frustrating problems...that isn't worded correctly, probably cause it's like 3:40

Dale Anthony
03-08-2005, 04:43
Nah...sounds worded enough.

Matt
03-08-2005, 04:47
Good then lol, Dale what the Egg is Yoshiki?

Dale Anthony
03-08-2005, 04:50
Well anyhow, I'll use emulators whenever I get bored I guess.

Yoshiki would be my previous username on here and the lead singer of J-Rock band X-Japan.

Matt
03-08-2005, 04:50
X-Japan...oh right! Well I don't call myself KT Tunstall do I? :D

Dale Anthony
03-08-2005, 04:53
Nah, but at the same time, I don't call myself Harpic Power Cleaner either do I?

Matt
03-08-2005, 04:54
LOL! Okay you win Dalton

Dale Anthony
03-08-2005, 04:54
Well...we did go off the topic, AGAIN Matt lol.

Matt
03-08-2005, 04:58
lol I think we better stop doing that...but then again this forum at the moment is about as active as a sheep that has been repeatedly hammered to death with a spoon

Dale Anthony
03-08-2005, 05:32
I'm actually thinking about getting a new emulator on here sometime this week. I ain't got a lot to do at the mo, so it'll pass the time.

Matt
03-08-2005, 05:37
Dalton get me in your sig :P and Secondly, go for SNES, that can't be touched.

Auron-X
03-08-2005, 08:48
I do prefer getting the real consoles myself, except couldn't be bothered wasting money on SP nor GBA, so i'll get the emulator instead since there's advantages but also a few disadvantages but I can live with that. But things like the PS, PS2, Xbox, Nintendo (Well....), GameCube or something, i'd get the real thing =/ Despite me only having two of them right now, xD (PS & Xbox).

Dusk
03-08-2005, 11:20
first off: wow, you cant go anywhere without someone spamming something
second: I agree with Auron, I got all the SNES/GBA etc.. Emulators but things like Gamecube/PS/Xbox I'd get the real console for it..especially since I can get any game for like £5 XD
and using your keyboard for the controls doesnt give you the whole effect your suppose to get of most games.

Dale Anthony
03-08-2005, 13:00
I've still got a SNES but the damn thing got dusty as hell and the point is it only works when it wants to. And if you're looking for someone to blame for spamming blame Matt there lol.

Matt
03-08-2005, 13:26
Thanks Dale lol on my first day you put me in the fire, but don't worry I'll let you off in this thread cause I understand why you blamed me :P

Akiko you can buy a PC controller to use on roms, but on consoles like N64 the controller doesn't have the right design

Yeah I know I got a little Snes controller for the PC or w/e...just hassle when im on the PC I like to talk to people XD

Matt

Anyways on the new Nintendo console (if anyone actualy buys it) you can download NES and SNES games

Scott
03-08-2005, 15:01
They are great for test purposes, say you aren't sure if you should but a game then use an emulator first.

The main downfall is I find it VERY uncomfortable sitting at the computer just to watch a tiny screen! ^_^

Auron-X
03-08-2005, 15:25
^ Yeah, xD. Since if you make it full-screen, it's too big and the pixels are all weird and everything, so I make the screen almost 2x bigger than a normal GBA screen, maybe around 1 3/4, dunno really, but it's bigger enough for me to see it properly and somewat clearly without the graphics being all too weird.

Yeah, its annoying how that happens! XD

I find unless I leave the screen at the origional size it just looks kinda crappy! :p

just a quick note.... GBA games does look nice if you put the graphical options correctly!!!
remember that some of those games were previously on a SNES and are only scaled down and the actual resolution of a gameboy is only 240X160 so if you increase that 2.5 times you'll get 600x400.... which looks a lot like 640x480 and with those options on you'll barely notice difference between a GBA game on an emu and the original SNES game...

If you have Visual Boy Advance you just put it on full screen and choose a good Filter. The 2XSupersal makes it look even better than the original! :D

alexanderpas

actually it's supersai and not supersaL, sai means stretch and interpolate

but indeed, 2XSuperSaI filter works great, full screen, no more pixels, smooth view!

what i i mostly enjoy about emulators is that you can put it on a usb stick and play it everywhere, you can also play everywhere like you are on a N64 while actually playing on you're notebook, no more searches on the internet for example the original chrono trigger or street fighter II. and you can save wherever you want ! excellent ! like dream that's coming true and it just gets better....

did anyone find out that the PSP used to be an emulator itself? :P at v1.0 (i think) is where you could play games from other companies (example: Nintendo). Sony had to make a fix for it of course, so they wouldnt get sued. XD but i can tell you, use google, search for PSP Downgrade. I saw it in a gaming magazine (i believe it was Electronic Gaming Monthly).

http://www.emuv2.com

Good resources, just a pretty slow server. I tend to get mine from a private site, has all sorts of apps and things.
