The gist of the article is that they want to change the law. The new law will say that a person has only committed murder if they specifically set out to kill somebody - so if you're knifed in the street for your wallet, or killed when you discover a burglar in your house, it wouldn't be murder.
This would cut the number of murder convictions in Britain by more than half
Woah woah woah? What are they, stupid?
Who cares if it will cut the number of murder convictions in half, the idea is to stop murder from happening, not stop the convictions.
If a person kills another person, regardless of whether or not it was pre-meditated, that person should be convicted! They shouldn't have been committing whatever crime in the first place that led to the murder, intent to cause grievous bodily harm, burglaring someone, stealing someones wallet.
How stupid can people be?
Killing someone isnt murder... thats the most ****ing stupid thing ive heard.
Why do people that stupid get into politics?

Isn't this the thing that gets so many people dying in Third World Countries? It's basically if you aren't important or weren't aiming to get yourself stabbed by someone then the person stabbing you is not causing a crime.
The thing is, it's just as easy in a court room for a killer to go "Oh...I didn't mean to stab them, I just wanted to rob their house" after he/she has killed someone on purpose. I think that's pretty selfish AND typical of the British Government.
Okay, Politics has reached a new level of stupidity. This would allow MORE people to kill and use that very reason to not get convicted in court, those people who have gotten convicted for murder most likely deserved it =/ I mean who would even THINK of something like this in the first place? The idea of convicted someone is to punish them for the wrong doings therefore this may disencourage others to do the same. Geez, how stupid can some people be.

you basicly, if you didn't plan to kill somebody it's not murder. Alright, so I start carrying a weapon around on me, get into a fight with somebody and use the knife to defend myself and stab him in a lethal spot. Therefor i didn't acually plan to kill them (well, acually in this example i did, but let's not think of that XD) i just planned to stab him once? -.- more stupidity
Grae pretty much said what I wanted to say on this matter...the quote in the article hit the nail on the head.
If you water down murder, what hope is there for all other crimes?
Society is going to hell.
That sort of thing shouldn't be allowed...It's just stupid. :( :upset:
OK, I deleted the whole of what was here before, as once again I spoke before reading the thing. Silly me!
Anyway, here is a revised version: Stupid government!
I feel like this is something right out of Minority Report.

Yes, but according to the staff, posts like that aren't spam.
Leaving me half-tempted to go and find a stack of year-old posts in which to post 'what?' or 'I agree' or some other crap, to boost my post count.

What the hell
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but either, your rock you were hiding under has been stolen, you've just discovered you have EXTREMELY slow reactions or you intend on posting somewhere everyone else left about six years ago.
Please dude...this thread is dead, your reply is worthless and you really need to speed up with replies...or get a computer that doesn't take three months to load your answer...if that's what took you so long.

All you're doing is worthless post harvesting. You've contributed nothing to the discussion, all you've done is boost your post count.

Yes well done. Why Zidane and co. haven't warned you yet, I will never know. Anyway, that's me finished with this thread, I stated my point ages ago and still stand by that.
A'ight guys, since no clear rule has been made yet about thread-necromancing I can't say anything about that~ It seems to be alright that you revive threads as long as you have something to contribute to the topic in question. If you revive threads please try not to spam & to post something relevant to the topic ( Link (http://forums.hellandheavennet.com/announcement.php?f=2)).
Posts are spam when it adds nothing to the topic question.
I won't warn anyone here cause it was kind of a grey area, but please try to add more content to your posts if you want to revive a thread, and don't just say "I agree" or anything short like that, lol.

It's also been 3 months since the last post in this topic. Since it's been 9 months and the law-change hasn't happened, I think we can safely assume that it isn't going to, so please stop posting in this thread.
