View Full Version : Search Engines and Hits
OK, while looking at my site stats today I found that we had a whopping great massivly awesome "ZERO" hits over the past two months. This was a bit of a bummer, so I thought I'd ask anyone if they have any tips to get more hits, and get good search engine coverage. Thanks for anything you come up with.
try to affiliate with other sites? the only thing i can really think of is try to get a good advertising campeign going or rely on word of mouth :D
Search on google about gettings hits for your site, something to do with putting it in the PHP/HTML document so it comes up on search engines, thats my only advice im afraid.

Join forums and webrings regarding similar topics as to the content of your site, there is some code for linking your website in with search engine keywords, but I've no idea what it is off the top of my head, you could do some research on that.

step 1. improve the site, the coding, the site and the coding until it's standards compliant... (allows the search engine to read the site!)
step 2. improve the content, the site, the content, the coding until it's interesting to read (also for a search engine)
step 3. affiliate with other good sites!
step 4. repeat steps.
step 5. repeat steps.
step 6. wait!
It's always difficult to pick up site hits, the best I can reccomend is submitting your page to as many search engines as you possibly can. It's a slow and painfull process but I have found that it does work. I remember a while ago when I owned a site that wasn't getting any hits, I submitted it to a few search engines and still nothing so I abandoned the site. A year or so later I started recieving emails from people who have found this dead site, I checked it out and I had picked up something like 1200 hits in the space of a month.
So yeah, my advice is to stick it out because the hits will eventually start coming.
You should try submitting site maps and your site to google. That usually helps. Also look into SEO.

I wouldn't advise getting affiliates, it really depends on your site, if you have a link I could help you out, but you not getting hits could be for numerous reasons, some are bigger possibilities than others, but if you provide me a link to your site I'll help you.
At an average every piece of content you add to your site takes around 2 weeks to be listed on Search Engines, that one is more suited to google though. You should try getting unique content and waiting 2 weeks for it to be listed and see what happens, I did that and got from 10 uniques a day to 100, and I'm being serious.
