Right, where to begin.

Since Friday I've been experiencing a weird problem: My downloads are really slow and keep freezing for no apparent reason. Since im with broadband I usually get speeds of round about 35k. However now im getting a stuttering 2.5k at the very most. Things wouldn't be so hard to fix but its just the fact that my computer is loading up websites at its usual speed but its just the downloads that are being utter gimps ¬_¬. I've done about five virus checks on my entire computer now and all results have been inconclusive...... I would ring tech support but I'd get more help out a stuffed lepper monkey with aids, its the same indian call center who when i say to them "Yes its all plugged in and my computer is switched on" ask me, "Is it plugged in?" until im tearing my hair out.

SO, anyone got any suggestions?

Hmm... does this only happen at a few certain websites, or does it happen everywhere? A lot of times, a website's server will have slow download speeds, but great speed in everything else. It could also be you're not getting a strong signal from your ISP, too. I'd try to unplug it at first, for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

Note: Depending on your ISP, you may not have internet access after you unplug your modem. If this is the case, it's because when your modem tried to renew your IP address, it gave you the wrong subnet mask to obtain one from. This happens to me all the time.

To fix this, go into your Command Prompt (Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt, or just go to Start > Run > type command). Type in ipconfig /release, and when it finishes, type in ipconfig /renew. It will fix it for you. :)
