SEATTLE, Washington (AP) -- Computer geeks who were hoping to find a PC featuring Microsoft Corp.'s brand-new operating system under the tree this December are going to be out of luck.

The Redmond software maker said Tuesday that it would delay the consumer release of the new system, dubbed Vista, until January 2007.

It says on the bbc news website that its because of trying to fix all the security bugs and stuff that have plauged XP etc. To be honest though in my opinion no matter how much they delay it and no matter how many security bugs and loopholes that they fix; I can guarantee that for everone fixed the hackers will find like 2 more that they didn't even think about. Its pointless really lol we're still going to get a security flawed product

I have 2 GB ram as it is XD
When Vista comes out, I will get one McNasty computer ugprade, The One Upgrade To Rule Them All. We're talking max ram, best AMD cpu and two of the best nVidia GFX cards in SLI. That'll be lush.

It really does sound and look good, most likely to get a new computer with it in 2007-2008.

Actually I heared its not about fixing security holes but re-writing about 60% of source code, which obviously means something is not working well in Vista. If you ask me, I rather stay with XP and not upgrade to Vista - there's no real reason to do so besides the graphics which don't attract me anyway.

I will get it, but I will be getting it about a few months maybe a year after it's realeased so I know everything is working fine with it.

I will grab Vista as soon as there's a patch/keygen available that lets me use Windows Update fine. Vista will deal with all the annoyances I have with XP, and thus I can't wait to get offa it fast enough.
Who cares if something cocks up, Im merging this drive back with its parent and getting myself a couple of Raptors to use Windows on anyways...

my next "PC" will be a mac! since Macs do Windows, too (http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/)
that'll be a dual-boot with the last version of X and vista!

that'll be a dual-boot with the last version of X and vista!I've heard that too. Apple's new computers will be compatible for Windows XP, since it's the most used operation software, so that users will buy an Apple easier.

As of last week I believe that IE7 has been removed from Vista.
Available as a stand-alone addon only, not a core product.
Apparently, even Microsoft can't figure out how to pry IE6 from their code either.Funniest quote of the day XD
