Does anyone played Suikoden V here? It has been released 3 days ago in the United States.
I red about the game that it has the longest storyline in the Suikoden series and that there's a new skill system.

To be honest I've never even heard of the series! So go on, explain. What's it about, what system is it for?

Okay, I'll try to explain on the 2nd Suikoden game I played.

In Suikoden II you play a hero that must save the nation from the enemy Luka and his Highland army. On the way you get more characters that will join, known as Star of Destiny. There are 108 of them (not all playable though). You also get a headquarters later in the game were you lead thousands of soldiers to get into war with the enemy.

We had a general Suikoden topic, but it died. :( (look here (http://forums.hellandheavennet.com/showthread.php?t=491))
And I didn't like reviving it, or should I?

Suikoden V is the best in the Suikoden series, I think. It is the longest game in the series, and I thought the Story was a masterpiece. The battle system was fun and easy to play....Blah...Blah.....yeah, it's a great game. I can't wait for more news on the next installment of Suikoden.

I bought it a few days after it released, and have yet to even take the shrink wrap off it. My PS2 has only been on for about 5 hours in the last three months. :(

I heard that this had the lowest budget of all the Suikoden games, which is good because there won't be thousands of presentation elements casting a shadow over the story.

To those of you who have played it, how would you rank it against the other Suikoden games, in particular 3?

Oh dear, 5 hours.....your poor PS2....:P

Anyway, you should really give it a go Krytikal. I found it very refreshing to play this after the dreary Suikoden IV. I rate it the best Suikoden storyline, the characters are good, but I think II's characters are much more likeable. I haven't played III though so im sorry I can't compare it with V.

I just saw Suikoden V in the shop (it has been released today) and I was amazed how cheap the game is (€ 30). Does anyone know why it's this cheap?

I didn't buy it though, since I will buy Kingdom Hearts II first when it's released next week.

I bought it for around 30 euros off an online shop.
So far I'm loving it to bits. I have all Suikoden games... 1 was okay, 2 was incredible (my favorite), 3 was a huge disappointment (not to mention never released in Europe >.>), 4 was okay but too short and the world's too small, Tactics is very different... and 5, well...it comes close to being my favorite. It has a lot of Suikoden 2 in it, but with improvements of parts 3, 4 and Tactics. And graphically it looks familiar, yet better.

The only thing that's a little annoying is that you can actually MISS Stars of Destiny. In the other games you could frequently delay recruiting a character, except for maybe a few. But here, some characters require to be picked up between then-and-then or you'll miss him/her forever.

Sure, it's different than KH2...very different. I just bought them both. Figured Suikoden 5 would be a worthy goal for my money, having finished KH2 already. ;P

I bought it just before the Christmas holidays and finished it during them. I hadn't played any of the other Suikoden games though, so I can't really compare. I really liked it though, and want to play the next one.
