View Full Version : The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Click here (http://www.cad-media.com/mediaitem.php?mid=13&c=pc) for an excellent review of this masterpiece by Bethesda.
Anyone else played this game? I played for like 10 hours yesterday, I felt rly weird when I went to bed cos I wanted to play more XD
Basically if you ever played an RPG where you wished you could steal all the stuff in the Weapons store on display, if you wanted to hack that NPC up into pieces, or if you wanted to just do whatever you want when you want it, then you need Oblivion.
For those unfamiliar with the previous installment of the TES series (Morrowind, for instance), imagine the biggest world you have ever seen, the most stunning graphics youll find in a PC game these days and as I said the freedom to do whatever whenever. To put it like this, during the 10 hours I played I only made it out from the starting dungeon (yeah, Bethesda loves their dungeons) and back to the Imperial City. I didn't advance the story one bit. And trust I never just hung out and left my comp running, I went and explored another dungeon and killed off quite a few people in the Bloodworks Arena in the abovementioned city.
You pick up new quests as you move along simply by talking to NPCs (provided you didn't kill them already, you homicidal maniac) which you can choose to carry out or ignore.
I could go on more about the game, but just read the review linked to in the first post for the generalised information left standing.
this game looks incredibly awesome i want it but i dont have a 360 and my house comp has too much spyware on it so i cant get it yet ;( . I liked morrowind but i have heard this is wayway better than morrowind so ill probably get it

I also plan on getting it but will not buy 360 but get for my PC but may need to make more room for it.
I'm busy getting my computer upgtaded so i can play this amazing game (while im waiting to be able to play it ive gotten walton addicted to my copy lol) But morrowind was just as amazing (for its time). When i first saw the graphics on oblivion in real-time though it just blew me away (yes even the side-ways quizlings). heh brilliant game where almost anything is possible

Search Google for a spyware product named "Spyware Doctor" It will fix your computer up, if that's not the problem, then you probably have viruses and such... Search google for "Free Panda Anti Virus Scan" and scan your computer using Panda's free Virus Scan.
Anyways..I wanted to know, what are the min requierments for this game?

But if you only got the min. reqs, dont expect to see as amazing graphics as you would normally.
My rig:
2 GB System RAM
3.2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 HT
GeForce 6800 256 MB running stable at 400/750 MHz
And I cant run everything at max.
You might want to check out this (http://www.tweakguides.com/Oblivion_1.html) for a thorough tweak guide and links to some excellent free mods that will increase quality of many textures without a performance hit.
Well I want your comp, only a much better video card :P (liek OMFG 2GB Ram and OMFG 3.2 Ghz =D) Yeah I heard this game was pretty good, i've never played Morrowind though. I might go buy it for the Xbox (pretty old, so might be cheap now) and try it out or something, but I heard it was kinda crappish or averagish =/ Yeah i'll get this game when I either get a much better comp or get a 360.
the game kicks ass and i only had it for a day and the graphics are good and when you get out of the first area and step into litterallly bright light it takes your charcter awhile to adjust to the light. and your weapons get stained in blodd and theres splatters on the walls and some enemies are always at your level so its easier to lev up. but dont play game in third person they still havent perfected third person walking on the gamers character abut npcs walk fine. plus creating a charcter is fun and will take awhile its not basic you can move the scroll bar up a small bit(age eye color width of head etc) and it will change to a small detail and it can be crazy as hell.

Personally the whole character creation part reminded me an aweful lot of the Sims 2. Hah its basically the sims 2 with violence really lol.
and beer. hunting, going to jail committing crimes stealing horses joining guilds.
hmm gta with some cabellas dangerous hunts and fable all in one mix.
I stole a horse today =D Also looking for a merchant from the Thieves Guild cos Im like THIS close from being over-encumberated cos I carry like 100 credits worth of wine I stole from a vampires house XD
I installed a mod that makes the guards oblivious to what they cant hear or see, the guard must of seen me pick the lock on the vamp building cos he followed me in and busted me as I was looting the wine rack XD
Edit: Im gonna buy an Asus GeForce 7900GTX 512 MB, 650/1600 MHz and a new power supply just for this game =D
Since i wasn't able to get it for the computer, I got the game for my X-Box 360..And it is absolutly BRILLIANT.
So far I've had it for about 2 days now (Both days I've had work) and I'm level 3 now, and I'm a Prowler in the Thieves guild now. (I love stealing stuff..Until I get about 5 guards surrounding me.)
I put the first Oblivion Stone thing into a Katana..and named it Leviathan >=D
I love myself o.o *Hugs self*
Im hooked thats all there is to it! Im of course killing people and steeling things from people every chance i get on one of my characters and then i have my nice person lol... Graphics are stunning I have them pumped up with my 1 gb of ram 3 ghz processor and nvidia 6800 256 mb video card =D
ok so now that i have a 360 i bought it and love it, but i have a question, main seem kinda dumb but i am curious, when you level up is there like a little menu that pops up and tells you because i have closed the first gate to oblivion and now im currently working on talking back the castle with the guards and i havent lvled up that i know of =/ so does it take some time to get a lvl or what? and another question, who long do you have to get into the game before you get a horse?
Played it. It was alright, I still have it but i rarely play it because my system can't handle it all that well, but it's still fun to play now and then, graphics are awesome, storyline is awesome, everything, just... wow
has anyone become a vampire? i was thinking about becoming one =E

i got the game for ps3 today, the graphics are great and i like the first person view and its good the way you can steal armour and weapons off the dead corpses
The elder scrolls 4 is probably one of my favorite open ended RPGS ever created...I play it over it friends houses but now I might finally get it with my 360......Probably though I'm not the only person who likes this game so I thought why not to start a thread!

I think its better to continue in the existing thread. *merges threads*
Maybe I'm going to buy the game when I have a PlayStation 3. My computer is kinda old to run the game...
oops sorry......didn't see that one...It's a great game on all systems and in my opinion it delivers a whole new way to experience RPGs

I've completed the main quests and i have to say after the main quests there is still a lot to do. like doing the quests for the guilds and the dark brotherhood. Also doing the quests for the daedric shrines gets you super good weapons and Armour.
i had oblivion,
always loved morrowind, couldnt get enough of the game (somehow didn't finish it...sadly)
i couldnt play oblivion on my computer, but it could barely handle it, like my weapon would be flashing the whole time (visible, unvisible, visible, unvisible) and that like 5 times in a second, really couldnt play like that.
got a new computer now, thinking about getting it again, see if i can max out the graphics
got high hopes from it ^^
