Whatcha'all think of the English voice actors? My friend came around on Sunday and we went down to town and saw it for sale in the supermarket and bought it (I tell ya, my local has somerfields has a pretty good DVD selection o_o)

We thought they were pretty good, for some odd reason Yazuu has an english accent, not american like the rest of the actors (unless I'm going mad ( COULD BE HIGHLY LIKELY!)) , made him stand out a bit more to me at least. I thought that Kadaj's voice actor had the whole I'm-a-crazy-man-girl down pretty well, and Reno and Rude still make me laugh <3 They're so funny with the proper english phrases, not the poorly subbed literal translations from Japanese into English. But then again I am very... very easily amused ^_^. I thought Marlene sounded a little weird, but thats just me, I find that little kids voices usually sound pretty off >__> yar I'm weird like dat. The only persons voice out of the FFVII gang I thought could have been done better was Vincents, they gave him a kinda grumbly growly voice, I think he would've been better off with something else. Sephiroth was pretty standard. Loz was better then the Japanese one in my opinion, it's not quite so low and slightly more appealing. Best of all, no more out of sync subtitles with the sound, Lol, worst part of the bit torrent for sure, you'll just have to live with no lip sync >=P.

Extra footage on the bonus DVD includes:

- Game previews from Before Crisis and Dirge of Cerebus (which looks very nice I might add) and some footage from an anime from the looks of it, called Crisis Core and hints at an Advent Children game (it comes up as a game preview, but there's just spliced footage from the film DVD to the One Winged Angel sound track (if I remember correctly)
- Deleted scenes, there's about 15 of them, however, they're only 1 or 2 minutes long each, we watched them, it's mostly just extra (un needed) pieces of conversation and scenes from the film at different angles. We through the scenes they missed out from the Japanese version might be in there - they aren't.
- Standard fare of interviews and "The making of Advent Children" we ran out of time and couldn't watch this so I couldn't say what it's like for sure.

Also came with a little piece of paper advertising KHII, which makes Aeyze happy.

I downloaded the english version (wanted to see if the voice acting was acually good and worth my money) and it had the scenes (in english) that you said were cut out, that's weird. Me and my friend were watching it and I was like,"dude...Reno hasn't said "yo" yet" and as it turns out, he didn't say "yo" once lol. Anyways, I think it was pretty good, defently going to pick it up once I get some money.

Scenes that were cut from this version include~
>> The helicopter scene at the very start.
>> The scene with Tifa in the bar getting the phone call from Rude.
>> The first scene with Denzel and Marlene (I think it was at least)

huh? These were all in my DVD, that I got from HMV. Everything in the english version is the same as my japanese version...o_o;;
I suggest a friend goes buy the DVD aswell, or you re-watch..those scenes you say cut out were pretty long, I mean it took Tifa alteast 3minutes just to answer the phone the helicopter scene was about 4minutes that's like 10minutes of the movie already gone.

But yeah, I enjoyed it so much better then the jap version. It's just was so short and the gang only really got together when fighting Bahamut, I do love the touch of Aerith's hand helping Cloud out of the Energy ball though, I'm so glad she did die in FF7, nothing would fit together at all with the game or this movie if that had happened or they didnt cancel the thing which let you revived aerith (now its jsut a gameshark code).

man.
i guess i am really the only one who did not like the voices in the english version.
to tell the trust i liek the japanese version better - even tho i have already stated this in previous threads, i guess it is more relevant in this one.

I've seen the English version too and I must say the voice acting was great. The Dutch subtitling was kinda crap, since two sentences were sometimes not in the right order.

That is strange.... I don;t understand why that would happen! Mines fine, and I agree the voices rule.

Bah D:< I'll tell my friend that then - she's the one with the DVD at the moment, we're far much a pair of cheapasses to buy our own copy each. We did fiddle around with the menu's a load, maybe I accidently skipped over them without realizing, 'cause yaknow, I'm a bit of an ass at times ^-^ removed that missing scene thing from my original post since it's obviously just my super bad luck D;

And totally off topic, but I made myself a Reno banner, 'cause he's just awesome.

If your going to say you don't like something, atleast emphasis on why you don't we can all say we don't like something but, but that's not really worth just posting that.

Why didn't you like the voices? I didn't see anything wrong with them.

Vincent's was well suited because of the way his character is
Cloud's I expected his to be like Tidus's, so was a shock then
Tifa's was awesome, it goes with her character
Sephiroth was cool too, it suited his character too
Aerith's voice also suited to her character, it had a holy feeling to it.
Kadaj's was a bit weird, in most things he said he sounded really gay, but I guess that really goes with his character
Barrets suited his character too, it was really deep just how you would expected it to be.

It seems like you people are not liking voices because you dont like them, not cause they dont fit the character. If Cloud's voice was a womans, or Aerith was Barrets, dunno maybe you'd have some room of complaint then.

in reply to vixie.
i had already stated in another thread that in my opinion, i didn't like the voices in the english version and in compilation i also did not like the dialouge.
I think that in order to correctly que the liup synch, they changed arounded the sentences too much, sometimes they even changed the whole thing(more so for the short sentences, but less for the longer ones.)
i thought that Sephiroth's voice was alright and so was Tifa's, altho i thought that maybe they should of kept within a close voice range similar to the japanese ones. Overall it is preference. i thought that the japanese voices along with the somewhat different lines were better for the character. Like kadaj calling cloud a black sheep was just meh. if oyu knwo what I mean.
Like you said, you are right, its not because they dont fit the character, its because i dont like them- and part of that reason is because i dont think its well matched up with the japanese one. Overall its a dumb thing to get caught up on but if i were to pick, i perfer the jap version; which in comparision to the english verion - i thought was much better suited for the movie.
I'm not complaining, im stated my opinion in little bit of an exhagerated matter.

So yes, there is nothing wrong with them, they have just been done better.
and if you match up the jp to the english, you might just as easily as i do, see a problem with the japanese wordings and voices liek i see in the english since your preference is the english one.

I prefer the english because I can actually understand it, without having to watch the film + read subtitles.

They would have to switch stuff around in sentences or change them because a direct translation wouldn't even make sense.

Calling Cloud a black sheep, what was wrong with that? it's basically calling him the outcast/runaway/loner of the family.

You shouldn't really compare 2 things that are different language to each other, I shouldn't of done it with the KH2 song cause i've listened to it alot and not just heard it, I hated the english version cause I was use to the jp version. Cause it really does affect your opinion and make you kind of biased.

I also think Square-enix would of thought, people who watched the english wouldn't of watched the japanaese, so they might of thought of room to change sentences around like you said.

True. I thought the voices were done well. I have VERY SLIGHT reservation about Tifa... I felt she should be alittle more airy and high pitched...just a little.

But everyone was great, and I do still love Tifa's voice. More so the more I listen to it. Cid's was my favourite, I didn't imagine Cid sounding anything like that, but it suited him SO much better than what I had in my head! Hat off to Chris Edgarly!

I do love the touch of Aerith's hand helping Cloud out of the Energy ball though, I'm so glad she did die in FF7

I thought that it was spectacularly cheesy, myself.
As for Aeris dying, yeah, she was such a little bloody martyr, I can't stand that sort. And of course it highlights just how useless the rest of them are, since they're constantly getting killed and phoenix-downed back to life but no-one thought to use one :P

HAHA!!

Bloody hilarious!

I must admit, I think if I were Aeris in AC I'd be a bit miffed at the fact no one actually thought to use a phoenix down. I know continuity errors are things we shouldn't really pay attention too in Final Fantasy, but I'm sure alot of people would have preferred some form ofexplanation as to why they couldn't just chuck a phoenix down over her.

I got it... But for me, it depends on which I see first usualy. Since I saw the Japanese version first, It's hard to watch the English version and get the same reaction the first time I saw it.

But I swear, the voice for Yazoo was played wrong..

Whenever I think of Yazoo's voice, I always think of that Paraody of Tifa's padded breasts and everything and the Pokemon song >_>;

God, his voice was halarious. XD

I think the whole purpose of it is when you die in battle, pheonix down description says 'Revive a KO'd party member'. KO'd doesn't mean death, whereas when aeries died she was pretty much killed. That's how I look at it anyway.

Yeah I know there where various explanations et cetra, but Aeris got a sword through her, which compared to some of the unmensionable horrors characters in FFVII got revived from with a Phoenix Down raises some questions! Being engulfed by and expanding sun which destroys the solar system for one.

(Possible interesting note: SUPERNOVA destroys the Sol solar system, the comet going through the outer planets, the sun engulfing the inner ones. This shows tat FFVII is set on Earth, although they call it "The Planet" and have rearrainged continents and stuff.)

Personally, I don't care. As far as I'm concerned, Aeris does to advance the story, and I only point these things out because it arose in conversation to have a chat about.

But logically, getting eaten by a giant snake or being shot with a huge missile or being cut with a huge sword shouldn't just knock you out a bit.

Also, while we're on the subject, in military terms, people aren't 'killed'. Tanks are 'killed', people are 'taken out'

Vincent's was well suited because of the way his character is
On the contrary, I think it was way too raspy for Vincent. I expected dear ol' Vince's voice to be smooth and soft spoken, not raw like a chain smoker. But hey, that's my opinion. ;)

Sephiroth was cool too, it suited his character tooI thought that Sephiroth's voice was brilliant! No more words can describe it...:D

I found Kadaj kinda odd, but the story was neat, the voices were greatly done (although the german voices are reeeeeally pissing me off) and the animations and graphics of Midgar and the people in it were perfectly fine (I gotta say, the people looked quite randome..)

I rented it from BlockBuster a few weeks ago and it was really good, I think it had Last Order in their two or maybe i just saw it somewhere else, but this movie was great. It really contineud the storyline well and the voices were not that bad

Overall, the movie itself was great, in my opinion, but my main problems were those that had to do with the voice actors. I prefer the Japanese voice actors, probably after all the anime I watched, but, for English, they were done well.
