Its now official folks! Final Fantasy XIII has been officially announced. That's right - it exists. Final Fantasy XIII Exists!
Yoshitaka Amano will once again work on the concept art for the game and the trailer has appeared in the recent E3 2006!
The in game graphics are just WOW and Im really speechless and anticipating its release.. not much is known at the moment but we can only hope for more info to come.

There, the Final Fantasy XIII forum is a fact!
The game really looks great, but I found it weird that Square is making 3 Final Fantasy XIII games: Final Fantasy XIII (PS3), Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3) and Final Fantasy Agito XIII (Mobile).

It is quite weird yeah, but I guess it's going to be good. The 2 games are going to have different gameplay so I heard so it will suit everyone's tastes, or well atleast most of them.
I saw the trailer and just [WoW] it's so nice graphically and everything the battle system looks very exciting too.

Yeah ^^ Its so unlike FF to make a trilogy! But whos complaining? :D More games = more fun for me xD Cant wait for it to come out!! After what I saw, I think Ill skip ff12 :P
btw, Eng Lit Hamlet paper was a bummer >,< Hope not all my A Levels will be like that..

FF13 won't be coming out for like 5 years now you know? lol..maybe longer who knows? best to get FF12 for the meantime :P
I wish I could like go into the future and get a PS3 + FF13 then take it back here and be like show it off :P

Since when Final Fantasy XII was announced Square already devolped the game for 1 or maybe 2 years. And the FF7 tech demo was last year and after that the team began devolping the game for the PlayStation 3. Some say the game will be released next year, but I don't know about that.

well what was shown at E3 apperntly took 5 years to make or whatever, this is what I was told anyone or read it somewhere. It will atleast be 2-3 years next year is way too soon.

I guess SE will release the FF7 remake before the FF13 trilogy so Im not complaining here :P
Ill rather stick to FF11 for the time being as I dont really like FF12.. dunno why but ill rather spend the time playing online than an 'offline' version of ff11

Well, according to 1up (http://www.1up.com/do/media?cId=3148417) the release date is September 15th, 2007. I dunno if this is true or not. I doubt it, since it's a kinda fast to come with a release already, since most games take 3 or 4 years to release.

I think the whole 6 games project is just overdone. I mean, 6 games of FFXIII? I also heard that every installment has a different story, characters etc, but it all revolves around something(not sure what)
I saw the trailer just recently, it looks good. The battle system looks astounding.
I havnt got a problem with 6 games.
The difference between this and Compilation of FFVII is that they've ANNOUNCED these games from the start. This isn't a case of "Hey, FFXIII's been successful, so lets milk as much as we can out of it". The fact that they're all gonna be in different world with different characters, all based around one common myth (By the way, the myth is of the Crystal, will post link to an interview in an edit) shows that there's gonna be alot of effort going into this designing different worlds and coming up with different characters and stories.
IF (and it's a big IF in capital, neon lettering utop a 200 foot spire in the middle of Times Square) they put the necessary effort into these games, we could be getting SIX quality Final Fantasy titles before FFXIV. That could be kickass.

I think FFXIII will be VERY different to previous, it looks like a Phantasy Star kinda game to me, and by the look of the trailer, FFXIII uses the fighting style that Kingdom Hearts does, real time battle...

Real time battle yes, KH system no. If you look at screenshots or the trailer, there is actually a menu based system there. The developers have said they want very Advent-Children like battles, but keeping all the important strategic elements. By the looks of it the system is going to be a real time variation of the ATB.
Did you not notice how the KH system had menus?
The only difference this looks to have is the fact that you can queue 5 or however many actions which she will execute in quick succession.
Kingdom Hearts was Action, FF13 is ATB Real Time so it will be like the other FF's only different.
FFV13 is going to be like KH.
@Belazor - Sorry, I forgot the KH system had menus, seeing as you cou;d beat the game just by mashing the attack button (my one major criticism of the game).
But I expect more of a mostly but not entirely real time system in FFXIII, like FFXII only.....a bit MORE real time.

If you've played either Star Ocean 3 or Tales of Symphonia you'll know what a RTB (Real-time) battle system is like.
I personally don't agree with the no random battles though, Square are stealing ideas some of their ideas now from Star Ocean (Made by Tri-ace) and ToS (Made by Namco).
An ATB is a turn-based system such as from the updated version of FFIV.
An RTB is kinda like KH's battle system in a number of ways but I'd say KH's battle was more of a Free-Roam battle system. (Since you can basically run anywhere you want when you're battling in KH, or avoid it altogether.)

Star ocean was produced and designed by Tri-ace, even though Square-enix is on the cover they didn't make the game, in Europe "Ubisoft" is on the cover and in Japan "Enix American INC". :P

They still had involvement in part of the development, Enix published the game so therefore they can do whatever thay want to do the game. Just like Ubisoft can do the same to KH2 when they release it, like they did to that Heroes game, so Square-enix still are stealing their own ideas.
she does have a point here so ahh who cares I just can't wait for it to come out I guess from what they have said the main character is a girl and it's suposed to be like a female cloud from FFVII but they also said that they wern't sure if they were going to keep it that way
I'm looking forward to Final Fantasy XIII. However, for the first time...I'm interested in a Namoura game. Yep, that's right. I can't wait for Versus XIII to come out. It looks so awsome.

ff 13 looks so realistic and the battle system looks cool too
im looking forward to the realease of final fantasy 13 because i think the graphics, battle system and character look extremely kool
if i get a ps3 i will buy finalfantasy 13 but why have they made the game 6 times are trying to make it perfect

Honestly I think 6 games at a time is going a little overboard. Well I am guessing that they will probably make those 6 games into different systems, maybe one for Nintendo for the Nintendo fans, and another for PC or Xbox.. Well I know the Agito one is on Mobile Phone, I never knew they could play games up until now ^^;
Yeah I am starting to wonder where the FF series is going.. It's definetely a lot different than it use to be, I like the more older ones better than the more recent ones to be honest. Action is great and all, but after awhile it becomes boring.. My first impression of FFXIII was a game based on a lot of action. Games that focus on action, tend to have a lot more crappier storyline.. Not all games are like this, I don't know.. Just it looks like to me that they are spending more time on the graphics and battlesystem than anything else.. Like the FFVII: Advent Child, I didn't like it so much because the storyline was very weak and seeing them fight, fight, fight, got on my nerves..
Boy am I in a very critical mood :P well maybe I am making my assumptions up too soon ^^;

Hmm I like the feel of the new FF but idk...Im keeping my hopes low because ya never know...way to many games for one game ya know? And I dont have a ps3 so I'll have to power it from my friend l8r on hmmm crazy square-enix.

No, there's no release date stated for the game yet. The game won't be released in the fiscal year 2007/2008 (which ends in March 2008).

There was some more infor released for versus the other day: there's an airship that you can fly on a world map. hopefully a return to the olden days of FF travel?
