"Last Year, Square Enix teased everyone with what is called the "FFVII PS3 Tech demo." Well, what do you know; This test case was really a sneak peek at a next-gen revival of the PS1 role-playing hit."

I have magazine scans from a magazine :P!
Also, others who work in this games store have also been told. FF7 remake is in square-enix's future inventory for PS3. So, it looks like they will be milking FF7 for all it's worth.

At first it seemed it wouldn't happen, that the tech demo was mearly a test for the PS3. But Square Enix have been hinting at a remake alot recently, so it's very beleiveable it will happen. I think it needs to be done anyway, for the compiliation, as the original game is hard to find nowadays.

I'm actually quite happy about this, a remake would be nice, I just hope they don't change too much. The only thing that bothers me is that it's going to take quite a while to be made I guess.

Least we got Before Crisis, Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus coming out while we're waiting I suppose. ^_^

Oh great, looks like they will milk FFVII for what its worth huh =\ This remake sounds cool but God, SE sure loves their money =X With FFVII being so highly over-rated as it is, its no wonder SE wouldn't hesitate to remake it. (Its a good game but, yeah, over-rated)

FFVII is very nice but I wish that SE would give more attention to other titles like FFVI and VIII. The storyline was awesome for those titles too.

I've not played any before VII. I really should do sometime.

But as I keep pointing out, releasing something for the ps3 is hardly milking it for all it's worth, given that they're gonna sell a grand total of about 6 copies worldwide :P

Where did you get that stat from? The FF7 Remake is going to sell alot more than 6 copies, I know more than 6 people already who are going to buy it so yeah...

There alot of FF7 fans who wanted a remake and about 90% are gonna be keen on the idea 5% are gonna be iffy and 5% are gonna hate it.

I want a remake but really, I hope they don't change it too much, some voice acting + improve graphics is all it needs.

But yeah that's so far, by the time FF7 Remake is announced by square-enix it would be well into a year or so of the release of the PS3, prices may of deflated by then for the actual console but then the games still gonna cost about £50 lol, a bit off-topic but is there an average price PS3 games are gonna cost?

I'd say £5's about right. Not sure if ya know but the 20GB version is not gonna be available in the UK, so its the full deal and £425 all the way for us! And you're getting about a grands worth of extra stuff, not just a games console, for what it does the PS3 is actually a bargain. (Did I mention free internet?)

Back on topic, I think an FFVII remake would rule. I'd sure as hell buy it. I'd hope they keot the AC cast doing the voices, they were brilliant. Nothing would please me more than to see AC-ish visuals (playable) for 50 hours, full voiceover work and redone music....genius!

I dunno if they should remake the Final Fantasy that is favorite by a lot of fans. They shouldn't change too much compared to the original. Keep the materia system in it. It would be a big minor if they don't do that...

Its still gonna be awesome to see everything and everyone as they should look - ie not all blocky lol. I'm quite happy that its been announced mainly cause FF7 is a great game to begin with, so with updated graphics it should be even more amazing!!!!

Ps - If they remove the golden saucer i will seriously take a dump in an envolope and mail it straight to them for ruining the most original and best part :P

for what it does the PS3 is actually a bargain.

For what the ps3 costs, you could buy both a Revolution (I REFUSE to call it a Wii) AND a 360, and get all the same stuff.

They better not change the storyline too much. Though I'd like to be able to go around Midgar more, not just the slums, but oh well.

I agree with FFVI should be remade, that FF was one of the best. But as FFVII is the most populer, it's proberly better for that one to be remade.

They haven't really remade them, more like re-released them. Though FFIII could be considered a remake. FFV and FFVI are going to be brought out for GameBoy Advance, FFIV already has.

I doubt they are going to change the storyline. Granted, they ****ed up with X-2, but I doubt they are that stupid. They would get their HQ burned down if they changed the storyline.
Maybe they fix any plot holes players have figured out, but they aren't going to make smth like VII-2 and market it as a remake.

FFVII should be left the WAY it is, its a good game, no point trying to revive a dead stud, basicly, the story is the same, very predictable etc etc, unless SE has some good tricks up it's sleeve.

"Square-Enix has never stated this". ......so!?!? All that says is "Your information does not come from an official source".

Where does that "deny" a remake? If they were gonna flat out deny it, wouldn't a phrase like "We do not have a FFVII re-make in development" be a little more appropriate?

They have said that, the only development they have so far is the tech demo. But they have said they arent making it yet, but it doesn't mean they are never going to. They said in a interview from the tech demo that if fans progression continued well they would decide about putting it into their development list (though im sure its already there but they are working more on the FF7 complilation and FF13)

It would be great if they did. And it would be nice if they made Vincent and Yuffie compulsory characters and include them in the CGI's. Improved graphics for my favorite game of all time is definitely on the top of my wishlist, might I add.

I think if they remade the story, there would be a lot of fans angry if they didn't include Vincent and Yuffie as primary characters. They can't make them optional characters anymore now that AC and DoC exists.

What would be the greatest challange for SE with this remake would be to keep the nostalic emotion we fans of the game need to enjoy it. BUT! And it is pretty hard to do with greater graphics. BUT! It's not impossible! Actually it can be GREAT aswell! If they just concentrate on keeping it

I knew it the moment that the Tech Demo was made. It isn't like Square Enix to make a teaser movie and not act. SQUARE ENIX! Make it as awesome as the original or millions of fans will be dissapointed just like when everyone played Final Fantasy X-2 for the first time. That game was a major let down. I hope that FFVII PS3 doesn't make the same impression.

I hope they make a remake, I didn't get it when It came out because I got a PS2 in the end of Summer 2006, I got Kingdom Hearts II along with it. Then I found out that I liked Final Fantasy a bit more more then Kingdom Hearts, but I still have a thing for KH... anyway, I didn't like Final Fantasy at the time... I coulden't live without my Spyro!!!

The demo was a clip from Advent Children...they created it to show the graphics of the PS3...this was announced by square...but i cant find the article @_@....

so no FFVII remake.....eventhough it would sell so fast!

I'm not looking forward to a remake, or even hoping for one. I just want Square-Enix to bloody move on, and create something new.

I don't mind the sequels that have been done, some of them have been pretty good. But a remake would completely ruin the 'classic' that is the original game.

Well, the only message that counts in this case is the official one from Squeenix. EGM started the whole 'FF7 remake' rumour, and have started several other ones besides (FF8 remake for PS2, supposed to be out years ago, anyone ever see that?)
The official stance from the company that makes the game is 'There will be no remake'. Most of Squeenix's staff is currently working on XIII - no staff available to make this remake. Internet rumourmongers can blather all they want, it won't make the remake any more likely to happen.

So mixed-messages all around, Square saying no, we saying yes, there was even a petition for the remake of FFVII, too bad it got shutdown before I could enter. This is, and will be, the most loved game for all RPG fans around the globe, an absolute must for any would-be gamer. One thing's for certain, if they do make a remake, which would obviously also depend on the sales rates of the current version, I think EVERY SINGLE FF Fan will go out and buy, a PS3 if they don't have one already, and the game, equals-> big bucks for Square and Sony, how could this possibly not have been forseen by Square?
The remake will happen, IMHO, but not in next 3 to 5 years, they're busy with XIII and XIV I think.

Keep the hope alive people. :cool:

Some how I doubt that 'every single' FF fan would buy this game, or a PS3 to play it. Mainly because not all FF fans are fans of FF7, since there are 11 other games in the main series to be fans of, and that's not counting all the other FF games out there. Also there are those that don't want the "Je ne sais quoi" of the game messed with, which it would be in a remake.

And personally I know several fans who don't like the idea of a remake, they want an end to all the FF7 stuff. My self included.

I would love a remake for PS3 but I dont see that ever happening. Sure it would bring a great game to the new generation but moving forward is the goal not going back and rehasing like the movies (batman, superman, tmnt, abunch of other remakes)

As for FFVII being over-rated, I think it is, but it's justified, 'cause we all know it's awesome, no? :D

It's awesome yeah, but it has its downfalls :P Yet when people say "Oh its perfect/Godly, nothing beats it, best thing ever, 100% 100% 100% best game ever, nothing compares to it", when they go on like that, its then that we are justified in saying, FFVII is over-rated XD
And I'm sorta happy if FFVII doesn't get remaked. If they did... damn, more FFVII merchandise on the market. FFVII friggin' everywhere lol. They should just let it die in peace, not recycle it in a damn thousand ways if you ask me :P (I know thats a bit exagerated but you know what I mean)

You can't call a game over-rated just because you dont agree to other people's opinions, they aren't saying its fact. They are expressing their feelings for the game, just because you don't agree with that opinion doesnt mean the game is over-rated.

When I say something is over-rated, you seem to forget that that's an opinion in itself. While a lot of people may think this game is perfect in everyway, this is their opinion, and I leave them in their value, I respect that - however that doesn't mean I agree with it - I think the game is very over-rated.

I might have been unclear in my previous post about that, but it's not that I think it's an overrated game JUST because I don't agree with other people's opinions, sorry if that caused any confusion. I have more reasons than just that alone to call a game over-rated, which I haven't stated in my previous post. =o

The Ending of Crisis Core does hint at a remake, as it extends the footage seen in the tech demo. But, it could just be saying that after Crisis core, the story continues in FF VII

to be honest, i really don't want a remake. If they update it, it's going to take away all the random obscure parts of FF VII which made it funny. Such as Cloud dressing as a woman, Big Bro in Wallmarket being a cross dresser and Palmer being run over by a shinRa truck.

in my opinion it should just stay the way it is, it's still a great game, and the graphics don't let it down much.

Of its era FFVII's graphics were beyond comprehension. They were the most up-to-date and advanced that they could have been, but since then time and technology has progressed. They can easily remake FFVII to todays graphics and who knows it could be good? However that remains a personal oppinion. For me, Yes a remake would be astounding, to see the characters I grew up with and adore in much more realistic graphics. However I still love the cutscenes from the origional, so I suppose I'm torn XD The origional for me was just pure beauty in pixle form, but hey, that's me. ^_^

A remake will happen. The only question is when.

The cold simple fact is that Square-Enix is under too much pressure not too. With so many sub-par cash ins (Advent Children/Before Crisis/Dirge of Cerberus) fans want a current generation FFVII that matches the original to restore the name of the gfranchise to its former glory - and so many just want to see what they consider to be the greatest game ever made achieve the potential it deserves on consoles two and a half generations from its PS1 debut. Bear in mind it came out 2 years into the PS1s life cycle, if it came out on PS3 it would be coming out 4 or 5 years into its cycle when companies are starting to max out its potential.

Or SE may wait and bring it out on the nxt-generation. The longer they leave it the better it'll be on paper - and lets face it even if all they did where up the graphics and give it some decent voice acting it would still be a winner because its Final Fantasy VII. They can hardly go wrong.

i agree as well. squenix will get as much money out of 1-6 as possible, and then move onto the older games. and most everyone would buy it, if only because its FF7. I'm sure a remake would be great, but it would never be the same as the original.

BTW, i think that the best reason to make a remake is so that there is a way for people to access the games that didn't buy it ten years ago.

Personally I think FFVII deserves an overhaul. With brilliant graphics and sound quality and massive areas to explore. VIII and IX have enough detail to be timeless but FFVII is on the fringe and I think it deserves a restoration

Final Fantasy 7 will maybe be remade in the next decade. I mean now that they are making all the rest of the FFs like XIII and versus and then they are making all the other extras I can't see any remakes coming in awhile.
