I was just wondering if anyone believes in the afterlife and the whole idea of rebirth.
I know that this is a sensitive issue as it deals with religion but I would like to know the independent views of other people.
It was an interesting topic in class as my teacher said that he would just turn into atoms and return to the earth in another organic form upon his death.. or something like that O.o;
I guess for me, with religious influences aside, I'll just disappear from existence.. like being in a dark dreamless world and never waking up.

Like a candle running out of wick, I think that once you're gone you just cease to exist. Sure, it'd be nice to come back as a badger or whatever, but I don't believe it'll happen. (And it probably won't because I don't believe in it. The supernatural's a bitch!)
My Idea of this relates back to the movie "The Lion King" they mention the circle of life. Think of it as energy... If you were to die everything you are changes to another energy form. If you are buried your energy would be given to the earth and then be divided by the plants that gather that energy. Then insects may eat the grass which would divide the energy further. After the insects an animal will eat that and so on and so fourth... it would take probably billions of years for this but when your energy finally gathers into a form of matter and your energy takes up most of the percentage of the matter (that means over 50%) You will be yourself once again. But since all your energy has not gathered, your memories will be no more because they would not make sense and just rewrite with new ones. Though... It probably isn't true LOL! just a thought...
Well my DAD always say once your Dead your Dead the no Hell they no Heaven beause we send space ships into space and they no Heaven

I think too many people (and no disrespect in the way I phrase this) are too afraid to think of anything else or the possibilites of anything else that they follow a crowd and that crowd is quite close-minded and simply thinks "No, there's nothing there".
I'm not a fond believer of reincarnation as the true name for the subject of rebirth but I do believe in life after death. I'm a believer in many paranormal things. I'll admit, I've never really seen anything paranormal myself or on the scale of that and you'll probably think, "Then why believe if you haven't seen anything" but I guess my belief is like a religion. I don't believe in a God but I don't see why there can't be dead spirits.

I don't personally believe in an afterlife, at least not in the way of Heaven, or Hell.
I do however believe that there is more out there than what we see with our eyes. More than we will ever understand. So I do believe that there is more for us once we leave this existence. I'm just not sure what exactly.

well buddy space is way bigger than our galaxy we only catch sites of different galaxies through high powered telescopes plus space ships do not have enough fuel to explore farther out than mars which is only close to earth for six months and it would take about 2 or 3 to get there so i doubt a crew of people went out a google of miles to find any thing else plus light takes 8 minutes to hit earth coming from the sun even traveling at the speed of light you wouldn't get very far since fuel does burn fast.
i am unsure about heaven and hell after death since all the people that have the answers are dead.so if there are such things as zombies and intellegent ones that can talk at that well never know
Edit thank you tharrick for telling me the right word i shall now edit it in to the post

The word you are looking for is 'galaxy', not 'universe'
'Universe' encompasses everything that exists, and is the term used by physicists to describe all of space/time. 'Galaxy' is just a gravitationally-bound grouping of stars
i would like to believe in the idea of Rencarnation or rebirth for short but i have seen things that prove it wrong no matter how much i want to believe
I think that if you have seen genuine conclusive proof in the complete non-existence of god/afterlife/whatever, there are a HELL of a lot of people who will want to see it.
Well my DAD always say once your Dead your Dead the no Hell they no Heaven beause we send space ships into space and they no Heaven
This would be where we get into the realms of physical vs metaphysical, a subject that has baffled scientists for an awfully long time.

religious death tip 1 you are never going to be reincarnated as the same person your reincarnation will be completely random you can come back as a dog or rabbit possibly another human but not the same person you where when you died since that is resurrection in which you come back to life so if some one takes a bullet to the head they are not going to get back and go i was reincarnated that would be resurrection.
Well I don't really know since I haven't actually seen for myself. So to be honest I'm not exactly 100% sure with anything but I guess i'd be leaning more to the side where when you die. You simply die. You're gone and that's it =/ There's no such thing as spirits or anything liek that. And well I guess this opinon of mine is simply cause of logic but of course there's no way to tell it's true. Recarnation (sp?) sounds liek a nice idea - to come back again as something else but yeah, how will we know xP.
I dont think that ppl come back as something else when they die,i just think that when u die theres a Hell and a Heaven, but thats because i believe in God but thats what i think...i really dont have to much else to say.
Because of everything that's currently happening to me, I really don't know what to believe anymore. I can't even feel like God is real or Hell is really... hell. I can't understand Religion anymore.

Nope. I'm a firm believer in Realism and Scientology, mostly Realism because Scientology has some BS in it. I believe what i see and Science directly supports that belief. I don't know what will happen when i die, but I have a great feeling i'll just end up as worm food. If there is such thing as Jehova then i'll go to Hell or whatever.

My interpretation of Death is this..
its the start of the a new life.. you're going to be somewhere else and god only knows where because we are the ones who are living, reading this.
But Rebirth is a different thing
Our soul is who we are, Your soul will live for an eternity and when you die, you are reborn as a different person, but with that same soul you had in other life forms.. Its pretty creepy but thats how I view life
Right how do we know that the bible is telling the truth on life after death the bible could be the biggest lie in human history (sorry if i offender anyone.)
If its true then don't you think that the world would be over populator.
It would mean that i would have die 1000 times before i made this post.
If your soul would be reborn into another body then why can't we remember dieing in the first place.

Ive always thought of that as well. Why cant we remember dying in the first place?
I think our soul remembers death, but we will only know once we die in this life.. Our next life will not know anything about our previous life. Its all such a confusing subject.

Well the idea of an afterlife is many religions and began in ancient Egyptian religions, but rebirth, reincarnation, is Hinduism. Keep that in mind
