The night ran on and on that night the Hurricane passed mearly 3 miles from where they were sitting in a small roadside Inn their transport from Naskini a nearby town to Edo had managed to break down on them so the tables of the otherwise quiet inn became slightly full as the five samurai sat around them.
----Note that the language spoken is japanese but english is fine---
"News from Edo tonight as the Hurricane tears through the capital city of the Rising empire. No lives have been reported lost and thanks to advanced tracking Techniques employed by meteorologists. however as you can see the northwards entrance bridge to Edo has been destroyed the army is moving in to make sure that it is repaired with minimal loss of time."
The bartender standing next to a serving girl whistled "well thats a big storm" he looked around at the samurai and then the girl started laughing as he said something quietly.
The man wearing the heavy looking turtle shell and wearing the kimono yawned "aww man this is seriously putting a dent in my scheduel man" he stretched "and heres me talking to myself" he smirked standing up and walking over to another table "Yo stranger you traveling to Edo too?" he asked Jin Smiling still holding his iced beer.

Jin looked at the small bottle of sake warming in front of him, then poured a small cup.
'Wherever my path takes me' he said, sipping from the cup.
'Rare, to find good sake these days. But they say that the time of day, the season, and the weather, all influence the taste. It must be the storm. I should remember this.'
"Kejoshu is my name fellow swordsman. And that is why i switched to beer." he smirked "Keeps you ready to enjoy any sake that you slam past your lips" he smiled eyes closed "so perchance are you heading to the freelance swordsmanship trials? as i am?"
Tharrick
20-07-2005, 23:56
'I may have heard a thing or two of swordsmanship trials, but I have little interest in such matters.'
Brindley
21-07-2005, 00:01
Kiyoyuki glanced up from the corner. The weather had certainly forced him to take shelter. Something big must really have upset one of the Gods! he thought. Listening around the room, he heard much talk of the storm, but one conversation from a table close by caught his attention.
'Excuse me, I heard you talking. How far from here is Edo?'
Kejoshu shrugged "not my bother just another swordsman who wont be in my path" he smiled and laid his head on the table looking at the chopsticks in the middle "Strange how the storm chooses to get in my way. Maybe its a omen"
He blinked at the question and glanced up at the television hanging from above the bar "about thirty more miles"

''Just another swordsman'?' Jin said, quirking an eyebrow. 'I take offence at that. Will you apologise, or will we decide this with honour?'
His hand strayed towards the hilt of his katana.
Kejoshu stood up blinking holding out his hands "no no no its not what i meant guh i meant to say you wont be... darn.."
Tharrick
21-07-2005, 00:08
Jin also stood up, his hand resting now on his sword-hilt.
'Then apologise. Apologise, or face my sword as payment for the insult you have dealt me.'
Brindley
21-07-2005, 00:08
'Would you two mind saving this until after the storm has passed? I'd rather not be stuck in this bar while you two bore arms at each other. Why don't you settle your differences over another drink?'
Tharrick
21-07-2005, 00:09
'This is not your concern. I have been insulted, and this will be settled, one way or the other'
Kejoshu bowed "Sorry sorry I did not mean to insult you lets not draw steel here please I seek not violence".
Tharrick
21-07-2005, 00:14
'Very well' Jin said, lowering his hand. He turned back to his sake, and tossed back another cup.
Kejoshu sighed and looked around at most of the other quiet faces "well that put about as much luster into the room as a bomb would" he sighed looking over at the waitress "yoo ill have some squid noodles please!" he smiled and winked which she returned with a sigh and walking off into the kitchen.
Brindley
21-07-2005, 00:19
Kiyoyuki turned to Kejoshu. 'So tell me of Edo. I have never been there, and long to see what I have heard described as the Gem of this nation.'
Kejoshu smirked "well its a really big city, unlike some of the small cities though it towers with huge skyscrapers that in some places at certian times block out the sun it has the largest military force in the country stationed there and it has a great overground train system and various other technical marvels."
Brindley
21-07-2005, 00:30
'Such things I would be glad to see, but some things are best left unseen. Buildings that touch the sky, blocking out the sun? Surely a marvel to behold but a nuisance to those wishing to bask in the sun's rays. It will be an experience, seeing Edo. Although it will probably have to wait until tomorrow, judging from this weather.' Kiyoyuki glances out of the window, seeing the rain hammering down on the ground outside.
'Tell me, what are you travelling to Edo for?'
Tharrick
21-07-2005, 00:39
Jin placed his empty cup next to the empty sake bottle, stood, and walked over to the door. He opened it, and looked out at the storm.
'The farmers will have a difficult time' he said to nobody in particular, looking at the beginnings of a flood.
Brindley
21-07-2005, 00:42
Hearing the rain get louder and a draft pick up through the bar, Kiyoyuki turns around to look towards the door. 'Hey, some of us don't want to be catching a cold from this storm'
Tharrick
21-07-2005, 00:51
Jin closed the door again, and turned back to the bar.
'Sake' he said, and the bartender produced another ceramic bottle, placing it in the shallow bowl of water to warm again. Jin tossed a few coins onto the bar, enough yen to cover the sake.
'Have you never drunk warm sake in a cold room?' he asked, looking at Kiyoyuki. 'The flavour becomes most distinct, and the feel of the warmth of both the alcohol and the physical warmth of the drink becomes exquisite.'
Brindley
21-07-2005, 00:58
'Maybe, but that doesn't stop the fact that my ankles are now cold.' Kiyuyoki sighed, 'I apologise, I am not usually so grouchy. The weather is just affecting my mood for the worse.'
Tharrick
21-07-2005, 01:00
'My apologies' Jin said. He picked up another cup from the bar, filled it with sake, and slid it across to Kiyuyoki.
'Here, try it.'
Brindley
21-07-2005, 01:07
Kiyuyoki takes the offered cup, and sips it gently. Molten pleasure flows slowly down his throat as he swallows the pleasent alcohol.
'I see what you mean, this surely is the way sake was meant to be enjoyed?!'
Tharrick
21-07-2005, 01:13
'The flavour is quite different depending on the time of year, of the day, and a multitude of other factors. To drink sake under the falling cherry blossoms, or to drink it in midsummer in the mountains, the flavour is different each time.'
Brindley
21-07-2005, 01:17
'Certainly a delicate drink. One I shall try to enjoy more often. Back when I was growing up, the village sake was reserved for special occasions. Forgive me, I have not yet introduced myself, my name is Kiyuyoki.'
Tharrick
21-07-2005, 01:19
Jin stood and bowed.
'I am Jin Hitsurugi.'
Brindley
21-07-2005, 01:21
Kiyoyuki stands and returns the bow, 'Jin, it is an honour. So tell me, what business of yours has this storm interrupted? Were you, like I, travelling to Edo?'
Tharrick
21-07-2005, 01:29
'Edo lay at the end of the path that I was walking, but my path may well have changed before I arrived'
Brindley
21-07-2005, 01:31
'So you are a wanderer then? It almost seems to me that Edo draws a great many wanderers looking for answers. I myself am travelling there, to experience new experiences, taste new tastes, and smell new smells.'
Tharrick
21-07-2005, 01:40
'I travel to avoid past experiences, past tastes and past smells'
Brindley
21-07-2005, 01:41
'Painful memories? I will not question further if you so desire.'
Kejoshu turned and glanced at the Television the picture now slightly fuzzy - News just in the southern bridge has collapsed and it has been attributed to possible terrorist acts by unknown groups. Im going to repeat this "The Bridges into The capital have been destroyed in a suspected terrorist attack. it has been reported that bombs destroyed the bridges during the hurricane."
we have also gotten a report that the group is taking responsibilty for the attack though the army has yet to release any information. they however have released this statement "We are at this time in the belief that a terrorist attack has been launched upon us in retaliation for the capture of war criminal mishimasu shori. It is believed that the terrorist group and former army of the shadow continent is behind the attack however we are currently investigating. we urge civilians to be calm and aide the army if they can."
.. we take you live.. zZZzzt the screen went static and the bartender hit the suspended television "damn satalite" he sighed. Kejoshu blinked "well thats something" he gulped quietly. "what kind of man does that?" he then asked out loud.
Tharrick
21-07-2005, 11:30
'One with no honour' Jin responded simply.
Brindley
21-07-2005, 11:37
'Does that mean we won't be able to get into Edo?' Kiyoyuki looked crestfallen.
Tharrick
21-07-2005, 12:18
'The bridges are not the only way into Edo, but it is possible that the military will close the city gates and prevent all entry'
Brindley
21-07-2005, 12:49
Kiyoyuki sighed. 'Such a shame, that in our world there is such violence without honour. I would truly like to see Edo, although I am in no rush to visit. Perhaps they will not close the city gates for too long.'
"Well its still a good two days travel they cant keep the gates closed indefinitely" he yawned a little still looking at the fuzzy tv reception returning the reporter becomming a multi coloured blur "When you arrive good chances are they will be open"

Name-Nishogosa Urusai(Nisho for short)
Age-20
Bio-Nishogosa Urusaiwas born in the massive metropolis of Edo City, into a wealthy family. His mother is an actress and his father was the late Nyonousa Urusai, the richest man in Edo. Tired of his luxurious lifestyle, he left home to live an average life as a soldier.
Weakness-Nisho left his home only 3 years ago, and has not become fully accustomed to life as a soldier. His fighting style is nowhere near perfected, and his stubborness is only surpassed by his lust for battle.
Strength-Nisho's greatest strength is his first-class katana, brought by his mother before his departure. The blade is composed of adamant-alloy, the strongest known synthetic metal.
Description-A young samurai warrior, who's hand almost never leaves the hilt of his decorated blade. He bears light plate armor under his hooded cloak.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Suddenly the loud conversations of the pub were abruptly stopped by the simultaneous clap of thunder and slam of the front door swinging open. Beneath the doorway stood a medium-sized man with broad shoulders. He stepped inside the bar, gallons of water dripping from his drenched cloak. He spoke, and his deep-sounding voice filled the room,
"The gates of Edo have been closed."

Jin quirked an eyebrow at the newcomer
'You don't say' he said

Nishogosa kept on as he sat down next to the bartender.
"They were closed immediately after the bombing of the Talo Bridge. To prevent any incidents from occuring within the city. No one is allowed to enter or depart. Great Edo, the city built like a safe." He spoke his final sentence with a slight chuckle and motioned a drink to the bartender.

'Thank you very much for repeating what we've all been watching on the television for the past hour. Care to tell us anything new?'

Nisho turned his head towards the stranger with a angry disposition.
"You know, if you were more grateful toward others, then maybe you'd be more than just a raggedy barbarian."
Tharrick
20-08-2005, 10:18
Jin stood, his katana spinning from its sheathe and driving into the bar, splitting Nisho's bottle of sake in two.
'A raggedy barbarian? I am the inheritor of the Bouryokuzata Kenjutsu style of swordsmanship. In my travels as shugyosha, I have trained the sons of many daimyo, and follow the footsteps of Musashi, from whom my style originated.
'You have dealt me a deathly insult, traveller. Will you apologise, or must I cut you down?'
TriggerHappi:D
20-08-2005, 10:42
Nisho met Jin's deadly gaze with a charismic look of his own.
"Bah, your pathetic hero decorations mean nothing to me. I am Nish..." And before finishing his sentence, Nisho sat back down.
"I apologize, stranger. I did not mean offense, I can see that you are obviously much more than a barbarian. Please, have a drink with me." He called for two jugs of sake and passed one to the man.
Tharrick
20-08-2005, 11:50
Jin sheathed his katana again and sat back down, taking one of the bottles and placing it in the pan of hot water to warm.

"So I assume you are headed to Edo?" Nisho spoke, attempting to make conversation.
