Event:
OMEN1 organized by OMEN, a new dutch LARP organisation www.omen-larp.nl (http://www.omen-larp.nl) (dutch)

Setting:
Low-Fantasy Medival World before the invention of gunpowder and book-printing

History:The white area on the map of Laoghairnon has been an area where for a long time no ruler has been interested in.
Explorers who were brave enough to travel to the area have never seen back, and conquerers didn't saw any reason to send there armies to the area.

This all changed four years ago.
A huge earthquake shocked the whole western part of the world.

After this quake some part of the area has been charted by different kind of expeditions.

Dwarves searched for ore in the rumbled ground on the quake, wood-elves wanted to explore and understand the secrets and western border of the Weylin Woods and also humans searched the wilds for new ways to fame and wealth.

The first one who was successfull was the dwarvenprince Thrandensen.
His mines in the far north-east of Northwatch established a new traderoute from Esgard to the north.

Traders who traveled the areas did feel anything but safety.
Sleeping alongside the road they were an easy pray for robbery and all kind of things that manfested in the forests

Not long ago a clever buisnessman decided to start an inn along this road.
It looks like that this inn will be the center of a flourishing community.
The last messages from the north draw a less flourishing image.

More rumors arrive of traders who get raided by goblins, a plague that all western people tought to be released of centuries ago.
High-elves and other mages talk with respect about the powerfull magic wave from an unknown source in the area.
even more, the wood-elves say the natures can be called disturbed or even rebellious.

Reasons enough for a growing flow of adveturers from all over the world of the known world, by their own initiative or order of their emperor.
They also flock together at this inn, the only civilized spot western of Northwatch.(translated from dutch)

Map (http://www.omen-larp.nl/Images/kaartje.jpg) of the area. (world)

Point of View:
Cornelis van Zeveren (translated: Corneil Drivel)

Background:
A devensive palladin of driscol (the god of information) from torquil, who has parents in the lower-class, but managed to work itself to the upper-class trough devotion to his god and services done for the upper-class.

Storyline:
We're now already traveling for several weeks, tired and goblins have made several attepts to raid the group that has grown while more people joined in from different directions, however, the closer we come to the inn, the more fierce and bold the goblins are.

Time In:
Evening, Day 1 (Arrival at the Inn)
Walking to the inn with a large group and a cart isn't a big problem, hoewever, when we're close to the inn, our scouts spots goblins around the inn, and our cart is requested to stop. (it makes terrible noise since it's terrible loaded and a gnome also has a space in it.) while the archers and warriors secure the way, I stay with the cart, protecting the healers, women and gnomes. (they can't run fast.)

After the road is secured we continue toward the inn, only to discover that the inn is surrounded by a couple of goblins, the cart is requested to stop again so the attackers can make a suprise attack from the back. i decide to keep the cart safe and protect it.

after some goblins have been defeated and the others have retreated (lesson one goblin tactics: retreat when you are in the lesser number.) we decide it's safe to enter the area.
But you're wrong if you tought that would be easy.

right as we move closer, the cart breaks (((OC: it really breaks, OC and IC!))) so we can't move any further. after some talking it we decide to carry it the last part. i offer to carry the tent, while others carry the other stuff that was in the cart and the cart itself.

After arriving at the inn, all tents get build up outside the inn creating a camp, and meanwhile i'll try to help wherever i can. At the same time two other groups appear from different directions, they seem to be friendly so we allow them to setup their tents arounf the inn (we can always use some friends in the battle against those nasty goblins.)

While some tents are already build and some aren't yet, goblins attack the camp. I take one hite while trying to protect a upper-class-lady (she's a healer) which i can ignore since i've casted shield (negate 1 phisical damage.) on me.

Our warriors manage to withstand the atack by killing a couple of goblins and the rest of them retreated. the armour of our warriors get's a little damaged but is still pretty usable (((OC: 2/3)))

after this attack the building the tents get's finished and different groups come together, talking about the day and getting to know eachother.

i decide to visit the inn, and talk to the other people who are there.

after a while an unknown scout enters the inn and tells us that a trader is coming tomorrow, after asking why he's here already, he tells that he was followed by a monster with big red eyes.

after this the normal conversation in the bar continues and i decide to go around the other tents trying to get some more information.
Time out (Night)

Time In:
Morning, Day 2 (The High-Elven Changer)
After a good meal in the inn to start the day, one of the seers in the camp get's a vision of a man having terrible pain, and she tells us that she can feel the pain grow as she comes closer.

A number of people including me decide to go and find out where this vision is coming from, (hey, i'm a palladin, don't you forget that!) and after a walk trough the forest we see a high-elf standing and a man lying on the ground.

This high-elf is doing a magical ritual to create a race of people that can banish all evil from this world, he's on the final stages of his research, only a sigle step away from his final target.

We see how the man (who seems to be a murderer according to the high-elf) is suffering already and decide this can't continue for longer. 1 men is bold enough to step into the magical circle, only to be blown away.

After we determine that we can't get close to him, one of our archers tries take a shot. this shot is successfull and damages the high-elf but also has a nasy side-effect, all of our seers get's that damage too! (not good!) our healers heal the seers, only to discover that the high-elf get's healed too.

After more talking about his intentions to banish all evil from this world, and why he is using forbidden magic himself to reach that goal, one of the seers has enough of it and decides to take the measures in their own hands. She cut's her own throat, creating a fatal wound on herself and the high-elf, but not on the other seers, who only feel the pain of the wound.

finally we can enter the magic circle and try to remove the orb from his hands, this seems impossible, so we decide to move the high-elf out of the magic circle, beforehand binding his hands, and go patch-up the seer afterwards. (so the high-elf doesn't heal too!)

We succeed in this approach, so our seer survives, and the high-elf dies, so our healers can finally heal the seer... but... right after the death of the high elf, the orb in his hands starts to glow, one of our high-elves tries to remove the orb but still doesn't succeed. the orb glows even more and we'll decide the best approach is to run away. while running away the orb explodes, creating a shockwave that trows all of us on the ground.

After the explosion we see that the body has vanished, and decide that peace has come back to this place and decide to go back to the camp after our healers have healed the seer.

When we arrive at the camp we get informed that goblins have been searching trough the camp but have retreated right after they were noticed and didn't take any stuff with them. we reuquest our seers to find out what they were actually doing in the camp.

Afternoon, Day 2 (The Spirit of the Swamp)
While the seer is meditating, an unknown man walks into our camp, we all draw our swords, however, since the man does speak our language and refers someone as his son, we do not attack, but stay vigilante. They want to talk in private, and decide that we don't need to hear what they are talking about and leave them alone...

this also becase a trader has arrived and your lovely palladin (((OC:LOL))) needs to ensure that the customers don't get ripped-off by the trader or get backstabbed by those annoying goblins.

in the meanwhile, our seer is having a nightmare, where she sees someone using forbidden magic, and the camp that is burned down. we decide to take direct action, and almost the whole camp agrees and comes with us (((OC: the biggest group of the whole event.)))

after another walk trough the forest we arrive at a creepy pond (swamp) (((OC: dirty, very dirty water!))) with some undead and a spirit in it.(((OC: RESPECT!)))

Talking to the spirit seems to be the best choice here, since he doesn't seem hostile, however, he gets pretty annoyed by the fact that we didn't bring an offer for him and the undead are beginning to move. right on the moment that the undead set foot on land, they get slaughtered by the offensive palladins in our group.

This makes the swamp-spirit even more mad and he moves closer to the edge of the pond, only to get hits from one of our warriors who actually enter the water to drive it back. after more misses we decide that we can't beat a spirit (ofcource not!) and decide to go back to the camp.

When we arrive at our camp we discover that the camp has been robbed by goblins and that they have been digging in our camp for something.

We again request our one of our seers to find out what happened, she get's a strange dream, that no-one can explain, even the ones who can understand dreams.

In the meanwhile our alchemists are trying to mis different sorts of weed and trying to make potions of it, but they fail miserable, creating a big explosion right in their tent, (stupid!) which creates some heavy damaged gnomes and a tent in ashes.

Evening, Day 2 (The Three Totems)
Finally we find someone who knows a lot about legends and is able to explain the dream our seer has had.

The goblins are searching for a totem that has been buried in the same soil as where our camp is standing on. The goblins beieve that the clan who obtains all three totems (luck, wisdom, strenght) has gained the upper hand in these attributes when they come together and are melted into one.

Since the goblins haven't obtained the totem yet, we decide that it's safe to talk about the things that happened that day, and about what we're gonna do about the continueous plague of goblins who seem to attack the camp in the evening and the so called red eyes seen the evening before.

Suddenly we see a bright flash and flames coming from one of the tents, and when we check it out we notice that the tent is on fire! must be goblins who did this! and yes... we catch a goblin in the act of stealing from one of the tents and he get's tortured by some of our warriors.

The goblin reveals that they have got the totem they were looking for, and gives them a fainted map. This map only shares it secrets when all elements are working together. Then one of the warriors decide it enough and kills the goblin.

in the meanwhile everybody has checked the camp, and the healers discover that they have been raided and all weeds are lost, however, since they had all of their finished potions with them, they still have those.

soon we're all sitting in the inn singing songs, and talking about solutions for the map, and the totems, reports from people who dare to move outside when the sun has set speak again about red eyed beasts.

goblins are sneaking around in the camp, however, we don't notice them since we're too busy in the inn.

Time Out (Night)

Time In:
Morning, Day 3 (The Wedding Present)
After a good breakfast and a quick gathering in the inn, the mages of the different elements come toghether to study the map, the more elements are present, the more clear the map get's until on one moment, where all elements are aroud the map the map shows it's true self. altrough the map is now complete, no-one understands it.

At that moment a group of high-elves appear in our camp with a letter for one of their friends. I, being a palladin, bring them to the person they need (continuously speaking in high-elves) and then they start talking about the things that happened... when other people approach the group, they get denied access, (because they come with a stupid readon.) however, since i'm already withing the area they're talking and no-one is denying me to listen what they're talking about, i can follow the talk completely.

After the group of high-elves have left the camp, a group of dwarves enters the village... but what is that... they bring a chained goblin with them. It appears to be a wedding present for a wedding they're going to. the dwarves enter the inn, and give the goblin to one of us to ensure it'll survive. well, okay... for this one time we keep the goblin alive... but that doesn't mean we're not allowed to tease the goblin...after some playfull (sure...) teasing of the goblin, the goblin tries to bite one of us... ok, now it's a dead goblin... that also means problems when the dwarves come back from the inn... the dwarves are not that mad, however, they want a new wedding present, to be more accurate, they want a new goblin. and preferably within the hour!

No way we're going to get a new goblin for them! How dare they to bring a goblin within our camp. After 30 minutes have past, they think we've had enough time so they're trying to kill the one who killed their wedding present... But that's not happening! Instead of one person dead, we accidentially kill the whole dwarven group while protecting our people.(whoops) Since it wasn't intended to happen this way, we give them a correct funeral. (or at least the best we can make...)

Afternoon, Day 3 (The Goblins Attack)

Suddenly someone rushes into the village and freezes one of our fighters to hide behind... but that ain't happening! one who attacks one of us is agains us! So we declare her a witch and kill her. somehow not everybody agrees, however, everybody does understand eachothers point of view, so there is luckily no battle about it. the fighter get's unfrozen and we're all ready for the next thing that comes to us!

And that's good too because suddenly 2 big groups of goblins attack from both sides! we're defending our camp, however we can't battle all at the same time, so damage get's dealed to some persons, (including me.) we notice that they've got the totems with them, so we decide to get these too. we manage to kill a load of goblins, get the totems and after we killed most of the goblins the last few retreat.

But it wasn't without a great cost. loads of our people are wounded, so our healers have a work to do, and some of them are so badly wounded that when the healers arrive at them they're already dead... after all the work they did, they also deserver a good funeral, so we give them that what they deserve. but mistakes can be made, some people stand too close to the fire and get burned... more work for our healers :( after those are healed we're still having one problem.

altrough we're now having all three of the totems we still don't know what the effects are, also we still have that map we can't understand... sinece we now have all three of the totems, we can be sure those goblins will come for them certainly, and that's not a nice thing! Suddenly someone comes with an idea about the totems: give one totem to each of the races!

(((OC: it went exactly like this!)))
"One for the elven under the sky,"
"One for the dwarven in their halls of stone,"
"One for the men doomed to die."
(((OC: someone watched/read LotR too much...)))

Time Out (End of Event)

so the questions for the following live are at least the following:
what to do with the totems and what doest the map mean.

My mate LARPs and I was thinking of starting but decided not to, but he does tell me stories of the adventures. mI'll admit they are mainly the funny ones where the party gets raped by a horde of goblins or something. A lot of funny thing seem to happen when LARP is invloved ...

Anyway, it all sounds cool and I hope to see some pictures soon!
