Hey, little news about the PS3 if you dont already know but the PS3 will function like a PSP in a way, the same menus will be used but the PS3 will obviously have more to choose from...
The Menus
Users: A Bit like a PC or MAC, everyone who uses your PS3 has their own User Profile, with unique security settings and preferences - plus a record of your online achievements and buddy settings.
Settings: Its all standard stuff for seasoned PSP users, but the Network Update options spells bad news for pirates - and good news for improved functionality as new web software evolves.
Photos: Uploaded via standard Sony memory stick or - we presume - direct via USB from digital camera, this works almost exactly like the PSP system, with the slideshows, zoom functions and so on...
Music: Click on the artist, then scroll across to look at the individual albums or songs. We didnt see any music videos playing but there's a swirly screensaver when you press "play". Online song downloades are certain too.
Movies: Once again, almost identical to the PSP system, but you can download movies online direct to your HDD. The quality was as crisp as you'd expect, running at slightly less impressive resolution than Blu-Ray.
Games: This barely merits explanation. Click on the icon to load up your game disk. We're not sure if games will load automatically like the PS2 or by selecting them manually like the Xbox360.
Browser: The finished machine will have a Sony branded browser, but you'll be able to run up to eight screens, neatly minimised. USB keyboard and mouse support seems certain.
Friends: Sony kept this option under wraps, but we're expecting an Xbox 360-style friends tracking list, which shows when they're online, with a list of all their recent gaming acheivements to foster stern competition.
The information above was taken from a PS2 magazine named PSM2.
From what Ive read so far about the menus and accessability of the PS3, it looks like a really awsome legendary console.
Discuss.
