did ya hear?, there's a rumor that they'll release a FFIX-2 and i think a VIII-2 too, but that dones't matters hehe, i prefer FFIX-2 also i heared that ya'll be able to use Vivi's little brother and Zidane's sun?...well i do not belive that, but it would be really kool if they release that game, i would play it as soon as posible, FFIX was so kool game, imagine the second part. its like Whoa!

Anything with the name "FF(insertRomanNumericalHere)-2" scares the crap out of me ever since FFX-2. FFX-2 was a piece of poop imo, a disgrace to the original >.>
I think FFIX & VIII are fine games on their own, they don't need a sequel imo...

well Mirae, then i think ya'll not play dirge of cerverus then, cause is the FVII-2 heheheh. i think that will too be kool, but i do expect FIX-2 to be real, ya know, its kinda the "how is done" from the game that i like. like the fusion between years and artifacts or things like that, so maybe the second aprt would be more kool :), well not as the first, but who knows, squaresoft is not knows for making the same mistake twice so...think 'bout it hehehe

Lol, you guessed that right :P I don't intend to play DOC, nor any of the other FFVII spin-offs, I'm fine with the movie as the FFVII ending did leave some question marks floating in your head, but any other FFVII games is just milking the game for all it's worth imo (let the game die already :/)...and I can bet none of them can even compare to the original (they never can).
ya know what, with that im totally with ya, im a FF fan ya know, i've played every FF that has been released here, thats why im willing to play the other "-2" parts, but i prefer to keep the ending secret if ya get what i mean, though its nice to think Vivi gots a family and that Zidane finally puted on the batteries with Garnet, hahahahah :P

FFIX and FFVIII basically ended and everything that was a concern in the story was wrapped up. The only reason for a sequel to either would be if Square was hungry for money. XD
no, the thing is that is more than a rumor, they've started everything...they ARE doing it at this moment, so more than a rumor is a proyect

Not entierly true... There are still a LOT of questions that still havn't been answered about VIII, although making a sequal about it wouldn't be able to answer the questions that are in my head..but oh well.

So, I went around to try to dig up some more info about this (I mean, come on. When the news about FFVII AC came out there was a big burst of info and screenshots)
I found nothing, so I went to Square-Enix.com and sent in a question and got to talk with someone.
This was my question:
Okay, I must first say that I am a huge Final Fantasy fan (as I am sure you hear a lot) I've boughten I, II, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, Tactics, Tactics Advanced, and IX thus far (And am getting III when it comes out on the DS and XII when it is released.) So, as a loyal fan, I was just wondering..I found this image on a forum after hearing a rumor. They were saying that you were thinking of making a Sequal to both VIII and IX. Which I thought to myself wasn't true..But I decided to look into it anyways. Then I came across a picture.

Now you don't have to look at the picture, but it's basically an image of a woman that looks simular to Rinoa in a skimpy piece of Armor.
I'm pretty sure this scan is a fake, but I just wanted to be sure, and to know if you have in fact released any information on any new Final Fantasy's coming out (Other than XIII) Which I am sure you havn't, just good to know. =)

If they are gonna make a FFVIII-2 I'm going to hate them forever ¬_¬ Leave the game alone! It was fine on its own gawd! Stop milking the cash cow! >< I just know they are going to ruin it... I hope that image is indeed fake and it won't happen. They also made Rinoa (one of my fave chars) 100x more slutty -_-;

It does - if an official representative says 'we have no plans of making this game', that's an official denial that there will be a game - it's the same as if square were to do a magazine interview and say in it 'At the moment, we're not going to make a game like this, nor do we intend to in the future'
I really dislike how people here are so negative to sequels like that.
And before you go and accusing me of liking FFX-2 just because I'm male, then let me inform you that X-2 is the only FF game I haven't completed. For any of you that know me well (read: Vix :p) you'll know that me not completing a FF game means something, as I'm a sucker for FF games.
Maybe they learned from X-2 and noticed that that's not what the fans wanted (read: the fans that aren't functionally retarded). If so, then why the hell are you so negative towards great sequels to great games? THEY might be doing it for the money, but *I* see it as a way to continue the story on some of the most fantastic games I have ever played - not a bad thing in MY opinion.
Then again maybe they didn't learn from X-2. I'd still buy the games, but they would most likely be like X-2, uncompleted. In which case, I wouldn't go on the Internet and post "OMFGZ VIII-2 SUX MENS PLESS I WNT MY MONEY N MY TIM BAK!!!!11". I would just not care and rather look at the next FF game to be out.
See where I'm going with this? Hating them doesn't make a licking difference, beyond possibly biasing you from purchasing other games of more stellar quality, thus reducing your enjoyment of said games. *I* wouldn't want to start playing a game thinking "god this is probably gonna suck gigantic donkey penis..."...
Although they did deny those sequels, my point still stands for DoC, FFVII PS3 Remake and the numerous XIII "side-games".

I'd play DoC because I thought that vincent was the dogs whatsits in the original game, although I'm greatly put off by Gackt now.
We still don't know if there's even going to BE a ps3 remake of 7, so I'm withholding my judgement at the moment.
I wouldn't touch the hundreds of assorted XIII games with the standard-issue 10ft pole.
Two things about those scanned pics. First of all, in scan one, lets assume thats Rinoa. It does look like her except...oh waitm she has the wrong colour hair! As for the second one, and impressive fake, but even if SE WERE secretly devloping a FFVIII-2, chances are it'd be a PS3 title, and that character model was blatently PS2 quality.
I don't think they'll make an VIII-2. With VII they could get away with milkinging it, as so many people class it as the greatest of all time. But seeing as a suprising number of people thoight VIII was pretty naff, I doubt they'd see it as a giant seller if they did remake it.
I reckon they'll leave THAT classic allone, as well as IX, nut I do think there'll be an FFVII remake. After the PS3 tech demo everyones just gonna keep nagging them until they give in and do it!
Well, it's obviously at some point SE is going to remake all the classics, not the real classic's so far, just got the most recent classics left and its so blantly we are getting a FF7 remake we are just gonna have to wait a while, but they will do it.
well, still, I insist, its just a project, it may crash down in any moment, or anything like that, and well, personally i prefer this new rinoa, though it looks much like "-2" Yuna hahaha :P

If Square is really gonna remake those Final Fantasy games too, I'll hate them too. Just let those Final Fantasy games rest a piece. They did great. They should come up with other titles (and releasing some un-released games here in Europe as well...).
III is the only game that deserves a remake, since it was never released on US soil...
But yeah, just in case if you guys didn't hear me, there is no project, there is nothing. The scans started the rumors, and the rumors got around... But the scans are fake. And I'm pretty sure a Square-Enix representitive wouldn't lie to me about such a thing, especialy if the information is already out.

Both of those Rinoa pics are fake, the image where it says FFVIII-2 is fake, it's been stated before.
And the computerized Rinoa one was created in a computer program in 2003.
It was on GameFAQS a while ago and was confirmed fake by Square-ENIX.
EDIT: Square themselfs have also said that no remakes of FFVII, FFVIII or FFIX in development, although there are sequels to FFVII there are none in the making for FFVIII or FFIX.
argh, look, those pics are fake, yeah, bad fakes though '¬¬ but listen well, and LISTEN, there IS a project, the thing is that they can't give info cause its just a project, cant release info if it may not work, its all business friends, xD

Well, information over the web is all nothing.
Unless you have some device that is recording everything that the head of Square-Enix says, and then you translate it and came up with that, then no..Square-Enix isn't making a FFIX-2, nor a FFVIII-2.
There's no possible way for you to get info, because there is none...Or else it's a rumor, which is understandable.
Other then that, in my eyes, unless if a representitive from Square-Enix says that they are doing the project, people can say as much as they want..because it's all rumors.

Its a rumour and most probably not true in the slightest although IF Square do actually go ahead and make the FFVII Remake then they MIGHT consider making remakes of FFVIII & IX but I think what ive just said is next to impossible for them to do.

A Final Fantasy IX-2 would be good. Since it's my favorite in the series. However, I don't see Square making it anytime soon. For if they did, people will complain at them for not remaking Final Fantasy VII.

FFIX was also not made by the person who made FFI-FFVIII, so that'd mean all the producers would have to work for two different developers.
I hate to say this but nothing more in FFIX could come up as an interesting subject and be made as a storyline, well, unless it becomes another FFX-2.

Square should leave sequels FFX-2 was not a great game(not awful but not great) but it ruined FFX for me, i like stories to end and having a game purposly not end just so they can make a sequel and try to rake in more money really annoys me. also while im at it the fact that they made FFXI an online game and completely different format but keeping the FF(numeral) theme also annoys me. why can game company not just make an honest series of games anymore without trying to cash in and jump onh band wagons..... anyhow ill calm down now... umm i think square should leave sequels and just stick to what they good at origional individual storyline set in unique universes.
lol rumours like that are generally false anyway. Although I would be interested to see a second IX or VIII, just out of interest. Hopefully they wouldn't be X-2 clones with characters playing dress-ups.
