This is a RPG forum, so most members' favorite genre are Role Playing Games, not?
But what is your favorite genre next to Role Playing Games?
Mine is the Platform genre. I really like games like Jak & Daxter and the first 2 Abe games.
I like my fighting games! Both 2-D and 3-D don't matter xD SNK Vs. Capcom ftw and DoA series <3
And the others, well... just about everything, FPS, Platform, basically just about anything :P
I likes the fighting games, the classic Tekken series and Dead or Alive for me!
There’s nothing more fun than gathering with your friends and taking turns at Tekken! :P

Action/Adventure for me, to me that genre stands for games like Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Broken Sword, Monkey Island and any game related to Adventure.
Fighting, First-Person Shooter and Real-Time Strategy games are my favourites, along the SAME level as RPG's, well Fighting not so much but they're still pretty kickass and some of the series such as Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter are definately some of my all-time favourite series.
I play most genres, including the ones I mentioned, sports, racing, simulation (well a few), platform, action/adventure and yeah. I pretty much play any game as long as it's generally appealing and well overally a good game based on not the genre but other aspects eg. gameplay, graphics, features, other things, etc.
My second fave genre is either adventure/action or fighting games =) Sometimes fighting games bore quickly though, I find adventure/action games don't really as such.
Devil May Cry <3 As for fighting games I like DoA, Soul Calibur & Guilty Gear <3 Tekken's too slow for me..
I like fighting games pretty much more than RPG's (on some games like, Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur, Guilty Gear) but sometimes RPG's overpower fighting games like Altelier Iris, awesome game brings back the good feeling of the old RPG games that were a big hit <3.
i think i go for the adventure cause i feel more inside the game ya know, its kinda funny but its kool, i have lot more fun in them too :)
Survival horror games are my second favorite. resident evil, alone in the dark, silent hill, clock tower, fatal frame.

shooters like Counterstrike and Soldier Of Fortune and Strategy games Like Red Alert and Horror Like Resident Evil 4 and Silent hill
Fighting games, and Action/Adventure games, they tend to be alot of fun xD but I also like most strategy games like Kessen II, or Fire Emblem =P When I start on those I get hooked xD Shooters are not really my thing but Halo, thats one helluva game :P The only shooter I like xD
So yeh those :P
I would go for strategy games then such as Age of Empires and Red Alert.
However I also love platformers such as Jak and Daxter, and button bashing figting games.

Action/Adventure or Platform for me... i've chosen action adventure, since i think that's the one closest related to RPG too! ZELDA FTW!!!

My favorite genre next to RPG is either Adventure or Platform.
Fighting games rock! Both 2D and 3D fighting games rock! Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Tekken, and so much more. I couldn't imagine a console without fighting games.
Well, I really like fighting games especially the Soul Calibur series (my favorite characters are Yun-Seong and Kilik). But I like action-adventure games too.

It would have to be fighting games, aside from that it would be action/adventure (I played those before I played RPGs), so basically a good balance between the two would be perfect. But I really prefer Fighting games sometimes before action/adventure because I out grew some of them a little bit.
But can someone answer me this.. What is the Platform genre? I have never heard of it.

Platforming? Sorta like jumping from floor to floor to finish a level, probably my least favorite type of genre in the game industry, if you have ever played the game Icy Tower, that is the perfect example of a "platforming" game or "platform" game.

Oh wow. I think out of my entire life, I never picked up a platform game up before. It sounds quite repetitive.. Although P3 sounds a little like it during Tartarus.
Other than that, it sounds really old school :p

Yeah, they can get a bit repetitive. Other examples would be Mario Brothers, Ghosts 'n Goblins etc. I like them myself, but yeah, they do get kind of boring after awhile. I like being able to roam around a bit and not set on a linear path.

Mario Brothers.. Oh my.. That stirs up memories.. I use to love those games!! One of the very first video games I played hehe. But yeah.. If you enjoy exploring and such, you should definitely play the Zelda series.. Ohhh I miss playing them :( But sadly time is running out for me !!

Time running out? Never! Age has no effect on the enjoyment of video games. At least, that's how I see it. I plan to be gaming all through my life. Maybe nowhere near as much as I do now, but it's nothing I'm giving up anytime soon. xD
And yeah, Zelda was great. It's funny, my mom was the first person in my family to beat that game when it came out, followed by my grandma... lol. Seems little old Japanese ladies like video games as well, she played more than I did at the time!

Wow! Now that I look at it that way, that sounds like a terrible expression to say XD
But what I meant is soon I will barely have any time to game.. I am so sad :( but I will find some time somewhere. Yeah I am sure I'll be a gamer forever, I hope to be anyway hehe!!
I want Japanese people in my family, that is NOT fair!! :(
Yeaaah I haven't really beaten them either - I am getting around to it though!! I always either get stuck in a Dungeon or just simply do other things in the game hehe..
What were the zelda games you played?
*Fly High to the Sky*
~AngelicWings~
The only Zelda games I've played and beaten are the first three, Ocarina of Time, and the one for Gameboy Color; Links Awakening DX.
Loved them games so much, really need to go play those again, the memories! lol

Ohhh lucky you!! Yeaah I wish I could commit myself to it rofl. Yeaah we are so out topic aren't we but we are keeping the thread active, that counts right? :p
I should hook up my GC again (Game Cube).. Ohh and I find the ones on the Game boy Colour are soo hard, I have the Link's Awakening as well and I think its Seasons, or the Time one.. I cannot remember.. Pretty sure is Seasons.. Well I remember the girl has red hair..

~AngelicWings~
I say we're on topic, we're discussing games of the genre in which it's a part of! Yeah, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. *nods*
I've only played Links Awakening on the Gameboy Color, none of the others so I have no clue what they were like xD. Also, I did play the one for Wii, was fun, not as good as Ocarina of Time in my opinion, though. xD

Oh yes, do you mean Twilight Princess? I have that one on Gamecube, I really enjoy it. But Ocarina of Time is definitely on the top for me, but I still consider Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess on the top of my list as well because I enjoyed them thoroughly. But Ocarina of Time was my first Zelda game I've played and I get all these little touchy special memories feeling from playing it.
Also I found Twilight Princess to be a little darker than the rest of them, I can't decide if thats a good thing or not (dark can be appropriate).
Have you played Windwaker on the Game Cube, the one with the cartoonish graphics?
*Fly High to the Sky*
~AngelicWings~
That I haven't, aside from Ocarina of Time and Links Awakening for GBC I've not played any of the series outside of NES and SNES. =( As I've never owned any of those consoles... lol I really have been thinking of picking up a used Gamecube to get that Zelda bundle, would be fun to play them all in one package like that. =D

For me it's a tie between action-adventure and FPS... I voted action-adventure, though. Played Twilight Princess and loved it, even though it was really the only Zelda game I've had the pleasure to experience in its entirety. The Halo series is a real winner FPS-wise.
