Who here played (or still plays) Star Ocean games?
I only have Star Ocean: Till the End of Time and I really like the game and I really want to continue, but my controller broke down and the game requires a PS2 controller .
I'm at Moonbase, have to fight those stupid Proclaimers...

i loved this....possibly the best battle system ever, but the story was kinda bad.
i liked the proclaimers....with triple exp you get buckets full.
use sophia too, she rocks!
and albel!
and fayt!
albel rocks!!!

Yes....now!!!!
tis a brilliant masterpiece of a game....
but the voices suck
so mute the voices, then it kicks-ze-ass of many other games

I actually have just started play Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, and I love it. I am not that far in it but oh well. I am helping Nel with the war or something.

Dale Anthony
03-08-2005, 22:42
Whoa Lancer! Don't give it away dude lol........although....hmmmm.
I played the SNES Star Ocean a few months ago, I really enjoyed it, it was pretty cool only to discover Zidane from FF9 was based of those characters XD
..::AJ::..
04-08-2005, 11:11

A Game created by Square-Enix
it's called star ocean because it spans across space
it's a game worth buying
Yeah I am at this part now in the mine where I have to ride on these things and navigate them on the tracks... it is hard to me...
I Love Star Ocean: Until the end of time. It was a magnificent game. Alot of action and a good story. :D
Lancer, squaresoft actually created star ocean, you've gotta remember square-enix is a different company now
..::AJ::..
05-08-2005, 22:15
oh right....it's still square in some ways though
and the story was amazing....and the last boss was hard!
Yesterday I was on the verge of getting Star Ocean: Second Story for PS yesaterday. It's the first one for PS, and it's really hard to find. It was up at this store for 40 bucks... I should have got it lol

Actually, Enix created the Star Ocean series. :p
I love the series. "The Second Story" was the best of them all.
Till the End of Time was still good though, however it had a lot of holes in the voice acting, the script, and even in the plot. The first disc was awesome, but the game kind of fell apart on disc two. But, the battle system, side quests, invention system and the battle trophies will be more than enough to keep you playing until you beat it.
I'm going to play through again soon, and try to get every battle trophy.
yea, actualy I was going to say earlier that it was Enix, not square, lol

I've never played the original Star Ocean for the SNES, but I do own Star Ocean: 2nd Story for PS, and its one of my very favorite RPGs.
I've played Star Ocean III: Til the End of Time, and I thought it was just...terrible, in comparisson to Star Ocean 2. I don't really care for the game itself(and believe me, have played through more than half of it).
...But, being a collector, I'll probably buy it later on anyway...maybe give it another chance. *Shrugs*
Still, Star Ocean: 2nd Story is by far the best of the trilogy to my mind.
I've only played To The End Of time. I've nearly completed it and It is easily my fave RPG! ^_^

I've finnaly got passed Moonbase!:D
The enemies weren't too hard if you have the right skills equipped. Also from those crab like robots you get a lot of exp! Too bad I have to level Sophia and Pipitta now too from level 1. :S

I've beat it once already, I wasn't too fond of the last scenes, and then the ending.
Warning to Those who are close to the end:
The final boss is very hard! I was at level 110 or so with every character and it took a good run of constant curing and attacking just to keep up with him. I advise you use your two best physical attackers, and your best healer. Set your healer to cast healing magic by itself when you're not playing the healer, and the attackers to "Attack with all their might!", so when you're playing the healer they still attack. It's good to have around 16,000 HP with every character to make sure they can stay healthy for a few minutes.
Well, I've started over a new file, on the hardest difficulty, and I'm going to try to capture all the trophies I haven't got yet.

Wow! I got Star Ocean Till the End of time a while ago and havent been able to play it in the last couple of months due to school and whatnot. I did really enjoy the game and am already over half way thru the game which I really like. I am currently at the space station(yay space) and I am doin good. I hope to get back to playin it soon but not sure exactly when. I really love the graphics and the RPG system it uses althought the battle system is a bit different I still like it. I more prefer the hand to hand run into the monster and fight it right there type battle but I got used to this type of battle and its not bad.
Was VERY disappointed with the ending.
Those who havn't played yet read no further, although I don't think I'm actually gonna write any spoilers as such...still, stop reading just in case! :D
I felt cheated at the end, just like I did with FFX and X-2... Square Enix have gone sloppy with their ending sequences!!!!! FFVII had a massive ending FMV seqence, 8 mins long I think. FFVIII did as well, as well as some non-FMV for a bit before that. FFIX had 15 mins of cut-scene and a SHORT FMV, but at least we got our bit at the end. The last FFX, X-2 and Star Ocean TTEOT have been really tight with their endings, making them short and unrewarding. Not good methinks.
Perhaps they ran out of budget at the end... as they usually make the movies chronologically methinks... Ahhh... But they re-deemed themself with the FFVII:AC ending battle... although the bit after that is BORING! Tho perhaps cos its a movie, not a game, i don't count...
Yes, the X-2 end was a bit sloppy and short....

I've started playing Star Ocean 3 again today and I still like the game. Don't know why I haven't played a long time but okay. I'm now revisiting some worlds and leveling Pepitta and Selphia. After I'm done with that I have to go to the Sphere Company.
very very good great game i bought it and loved it then sold it because i needed to pay a cell phone bill lol:P but ill probably buy it again if not today

Does someone know what level is required to go into the Sphere Company? Since I entered it once, but on the 3rd Floor the enemies where too strong. Now I'm going to level my characters and Fayt is on level 45 now...
I beat Star Ocean: Till The End of Time in like 3 days o.o (Though I am a game maniac, I also beat FFX and StarWars: Knights of the old Republic in 3 days each...Not to mention a lot of other games.)
But yes, I did enjoy this game.. Though it does get confusing at times, just get around it =P
i am stuck in sphere and cannot beat the guy with the freaking gunsword peace crap weapon which only does mp damage which sucks. only problems with game is some of the voices like nels two freinds the one with the super high pitched voice annoyed me. tha and the god damn 2 hour movie scenes.

I just got out of Sphere, finally. The bosses there were hard indeed. Just do it over and over and you'll beat him.
I'm revisiting the Ruins of Kaddam, but I'm having trouble defeating the enemies there. I can't cause damage to some enemies...
Need to get the Sacred Orb there.
Number one tip would be to avoid those enemies where possible. THey're ridicluously difficult. Make sure you're spending your SP on improved HP, MP etc. First time I played it through I was at Aquios for the 1st time before I discovered the SP!!!!
Zidane007nl
04-05-2006, 00:48
Got the orb there. Now I need to go the Acient Ruins of Mosel. But I'm having a problem with defeating Chimera. It's kinda strong. Does someone know what level is required to defeat him? I'm at level 59 with Fayt now, Cliff too and Nel level 58. I don't really make the others stronger...
Depu Techiikue
04-05-2006, 19:11
Hmm, you should be at the right level, Zid. Try making Nel sit back and heal all the time, then have Fayt and Cliff head in and do all of the attacking. If you have any of the Support Magic items (I forgot what they're called :(), that let you equip various healing magic onto a character, put one on Fayt and Nel. That way when she's busy running off from the enemy and one other character is about to die, you can use Fayt to do some healing. Also, put Cliff on "Attack with all your might!" or whichever option it is. That should be able to take him down. If not, try levelling up two more levels or so.

Another one of my favourite series. I've played, and passed both Star ocean:The second Story(2), and Star ocean:Till the end of Time(3). I like part 2 the best though. The characters are more interesting on 2 than 3. I don't know, just something about 3's characters bores me...anyway, I was about level 100-110 when I beat the final boss on part 3. I've managed to also defeat Freya(optional boss), who's as hard as Diamond! I died so many times. Anyway, if you want any help in either games, just ask me and I'll try to help you with them.
wow thats funny lol. I was only level 70 when I bet luther the first time but the second time I was 115 and level 200 and something when I bet freya... Then I used the cheat disk... makes life so much easier lol

Finally I'm almost at the end of the game. I'm at the Sphere Tower atm. I'm at level 63 now with Fayt, Cliff is at level 62 and Nell at 61. Hope I can beat the enemies there, otherwise I have to go back and train again...

I'm been playing Star ocean for a couple of days and I currently am:
Fayt, LV71
Cliff, LV69
Albel, LV70
Right before the Final Boss.
Luckily, my Fayt takes off roughly about 20,000 HP with each hit because I've synthesised about 20 Orichalcums to his weapon. =P
Luther should die if I Cancel my physical attack by 300% and use Side Kick. :)

Luther is easy just keep using special attacks that do chain damage.. And right as hes about to do his big attack nail him.

^ Ok, thanks.
Could you tell what is good about Fayt's skill "Dimension Door"?
Because I've always used Air Raid and since Dimension door is his last skill I wonder what's good about it.
I've used it before but it only took off about 7000hp and I don't see what's good about it.

Dimension Door isn't really a good skill to use. It teleports Fayt to the nearest enemy and it does HP and MP damage and might cause Paralyses.
I mostly use Side Kick and Shotgun Blast.
I'm at the 2nd Floor currently of the Sphere Tower, with the crystals and mini-bosses.
question how the hell do you guy's get nel back.
game's easy, just need to know where and how to train, and a good chain combination, with that ya're done with the game, played all star ocean games, PS2 one i liked the most, and umm what else, just lvl 60 is enough to finish game, just as i said, a nice equip and a good chain combination and mobs are eaaaaaasy man

You can't get Nel back if you choosed Albel, Pepita and Roger. (correct me if I'm wrong).
I'm at the end of the game now. I only need to defeat Lurther. His first from is rather easy, but it's second form. His Insanity Prelude skill is really irritating. I'm at level 70 currently.

You can get nel back, as long as you didn't already chose a second optional character. I beleive you just got to go back to the queens place, haven't played the game in so long I am blury on the details, but I do know you can get her back. On my second file I did Albel's PTA (i beleive that's what they are called) so he would destroy the jammer and join me, but then i went back and got nel. So i know you can get her again.
well i got albel wtih out my choice he automatically joined my party after i went back to elicor2.

28-06-2006, 22:42
that means you must have done albel's pta thing without realizing that was it. Head back to the castle and see if nel is there, she should be. try looking online for a guide, it will probably tell you how to get nel again.

If you declined Peppita's request to join at Moonbase then go to Castle Aquaria and go to Nel's room (It's on the right side of the first floor) and when you talk to her make sure you say "I don't have time to talk."

I must say that I'm actually having e small problem enjoying this game.... Really.. At first I thought it was good and the story seemed to have potential.... But! When I realised that it was all about dungeons, dungeons and once again dungeons I just thought that I was repeating myself till the end of time:P..

Star Ocean 3: Till the end of Time reminded me of the Matrix with the story line but the battle system was awesome, very unique. Music was fantastic, even if it wasn't my hero, Nobuo Uematsu. Very short game for 2 DVD disks.
My favourite would naturally be the first of the series. Though the only way to enjoy the game is through certain emulation means (unless you read Japanese.) it's a fantastic game. I'm mildly biased here though, as the game is often known among veteran fans as the 'spiritual sequel' to another SNES game known as Tales of Phantasia, one of my most loved 'Tales' games. Star Ocean borrowed a lot from that game, much to my liking of course. The second Star Ocean is also mighty fine, and the third is the worst in the series in my opinion; though don't get me wrong I actually think it’s quite the fine game. I just follow this ratings guide for each game, with the first one being my favourite and so on...
1-2-3-Blue Sphere (no decent translation so it can't compete with the rest of its brethren.)
Great series nonetheless.
i love that game good game play good graphics tha battle system rocks its not as good as final fantasy or kingdom hearts but it is as equally fun i give it 5 thumbs up if i had 5 thumbs so i guess i'll stick with 2 thumbs up..........................i sound like a critic

I have the till the end of time and the second one
in the 3 i am at sphere211 the first time. I beat Azazer he was easy but are there any hints?
Well, my favorite Star Ocean is the third one, but all of them form a great storyline that is much better as a whole than if you just played on of the games. Especially if you include games that may be in the same universe (err... multiverse, but in the Eternal Sphere) like Valkyrie Profile.
As for hints... well you just beat Azazer... youll have a bit of a tougher fight next (if you havent played since you posted) with two bosses, but if you take them seriously (dont go "bah, theyre normal humans like those guards...") there shouldnt be any problem. If you need to train, fight in the hallways.
i liked starocean it was fun my favorite charactor was albel cause he just rocked

i got to chapter five of the game, my team consists of fayt, sophia, albel, nel, adray, mirage, cliff, maria
i went to the ancient ruins of mosel and beat the count at runic chess
now the problem starts
i used walkthroughs and stratagy guides to help me but nothing worked or they just took it for granted
i went back to were supposed there is the entrance to the firewall but the door won't open
pls tell me if i'm doing something wrong or i should go something or someplace before (i don't want to have to fight all those convictors or proclaimers for nothing!!)
solved everything! thanks i just didn't go to the gate room if anyone has the same problem

I finally finished Star Ocean: Till the End of Time for the first time. :D
I hadn't played the game for almost a year, because I couldn't beat Luther. But yesterday I continued with the game and leveled (from 75 to 83) and after a lot of tries I finally beat him! I used a lot of items, but I wasn't going to all the side quests anyways. Might happen next time I play it. :)

I have a friend that wants me to get a game from this series and Im going to get a copy of Star Ocean til the end of time this weekend. Until then I am going to find more information about this series.
I'm interested in the coming Star Ocean IV (see RPGamer) but am a little wary about the remakes of the first two titles... Star Ocean I was and always will be my favourite instalment in the series, so I hope they don't ruin it by changing things too much or with a damnable localisation. Hopefully the developers can redeem themselves for Till The End of Time; which albeit wasn't a horrible game, it just had nothing on the previous instalments.

I have beat this game like 3 times. I love it!!! But one thing I wasn't very satisfied was the music they played for the dungeons, it was just so repetitive.
Yes, I have noticed there was a little bit of a level jump (probably around when those weird monsters appeared when opening the gate), I had to level my characters around 70-100, was boring that part.
Also, I have been told that there were multiple endings, but I have no idea how it works? I have been getting like the same ending, over and over.
*Fly High to the Sky*
~AngelicWings~
@Sazerx21, Part three happens almost 400 years after part 2. Part 4 will happen over 300 years before part 1. Oh, and you forgot Blue Sphere, which happens 2 years (I think) after part 2.
@NeoShadow1288, where are you?
@AngelicWings, I loved the background music in Star Ocean 3. I play the OST all the time on my computer. To get different endings, you have to do certain things at certain points in the game with different characters. The endings you get are determined by how much each character likes you or dislikes you. There are guides on gamefaqs to get the different endings.
I cant wait for SO4. :D

I love Star Ocean 'Till The End Of Time to death, despite it's sudden odd plot twist.:) My favourite characters would have to be Albel, Peppita and Nel. I nearly finished the game, but the final boss keeps kicking my buttocks red every time.:D
XD, i found him easy once youve maxed out your weapons with orichalcum. Try to max out one of your character's weapons if you don't have enough money but it helps addinganother 500 attack points. Also make sure you characters are all around level 70-80. After that Luther will be a piece of cake.

I am absolutely horrible at blacksmithing.:P I doubt I have the money anyway. As for leveling to level 70-80, I can't remember what I was, but I'm sure it's lower. It's funny, because I can kill everything else with ease, including the final boss' first incarnation. It's just when he summons those fleshy spiky pillars and shooting lightning everwhere that my team just dies in very painful ways. ><
oh, that's why I hate him, when he does that get Nel (or any healer you have) quickly to the farthest corner of the arena. Doing that make the attack barely miss you and then resurrect at least one team member every time. As for blacksmithing it's not important. You need alchemy and that makes it hard. Try to get Misty Lear, Mackwell, and Sophia and look for a price range of around 5.1k. That is orichalcum. After making about 4 of that go to synthesize (any character is fine, but try to use Sophia, Mirage, and Maria.) And synthesize it to the weapon you want. I put it on Cliff at first but for the part you use try Albel. if you do that it adds him 2000 attack which is always very helpful.
When you beat it is interesting because this bunny (after the end credits and re loading_ tells you about the new bonus dungeons (be ready).
My favourite out of all would have to be Star Ocean: The Second Story. Possibly because it's the first one I really played. It was really magical and I loved the whole idea of recruiting the characters you wanted by doing side quests and stuff, it was a lot of fun. On a side note, Ashton and Leon ftw! :D
