Ergo Proxy

THis is the latest anime series I'm watching at the moment. This is a pretty dark anime series which a heavy focus on plot. I guess it can be compared to Ghost in the Shell and Bubblegum Crisis in that there are robots that live among humans in a pretty grim world.
It's pretty good so far, I like it, though I notice quite a lot of influences from GitS and BGC (only seen the first 2 episodes so far though). Anyone else heard about it?
It's opening so far is one of the few anime openings that doesn't make me cringe (sometimes the voices are way too high pitched for my taste) >.>


In a world where humans and androids, known as autoreivs, live in relative peace, there exists a domed city named "Romdeau". Under the implementation of complete management control, it is a paradise where feelings are literally discarded, and the governing council dictates the way of life the citizens should live. But this utopian landscape is soon broken by a series of mystifying murders. Real Mayar, a female inspector from the Citizen Information Bureau, along with her autoreiv partner Iggy, are tasked to solve the murder cases. She is soon attacked by a creature drawn to her which is neither human nor android, and learns about the mysterious phenomena called "Awakening", an event which draws her further into the case...and to the world beyond the limits of Romdeau.

Hmm, I've never heard about this before, but it seems interesting. Is it on TV or onliiiiine somewhere? :P

If it's the latter, what site are yooooou using? I wanna check this out. =P

It's been a while since I've seen GITS. But if it uses that for inspiration, then I'll probably like this more, since I liked the concept of GITS but not the anime overall (movie, haven't seen the series).

Nah I never watch anime on TV (they only show the crappy ones over here, if any), currently watching anime on http://youtube.com. It lets you directly stream the videos which is nice, just click pause and let the thing load =D
Just do a search for Ergo proxy and then the number of the episode you want to see.

Kkkkkkiiiiiiiimmmmmmddddddddddooooo, I've finally got around to start watching this. I've only watched the first ep so far, and it's pretty good so far, nice effects and animation. But quesssstion... is this just in Japanese? I don't mind, but I'm curious if I wound up with the Japanese version, 'cause that's what I have. :P

I prefer the Japanese version over the English version of series usually, but I just want to be sure I won't wind up with mistranslated episodes or anything due to different people producing the episodes. =3

You mean if there's a dubbed version? Ergo Proxy is still a relatively new anime, so there's no dubs out anywhere yet. However there are fan translated subs, which is what I'm watching =o
