Resident Evil or Silent Hill

I personally think the Resident Evil series is much better but Silent Hill is a lot more terrifying, Resident Evil has a great storyline although some of the gameplay can be a bit jerky with the exception of Resident Evil 4 and it does have really good sounds that fits each location perfectly and I think its a generally great series of games, dont get me wrong I really enjoy playing Silent Hill too but Resident Evil beats it. How about you?

I'd say Resident Evil, I've only played Silent hill 1 but from what I played it was terrible, the graphics, controls and the sounds were all terrible. Resident Evil's camera problems have also been fixed as they are now using Resident Evil 4's camera and shooting system in the new Resi's. :)

Resident Evil for me, I didnt like Silent Hill compared to Resident Evil it's shit, Resident Evil scares me so much more,plus Resident Evil 3:Nemesis, ugh..I hated that game not knowing when he was gonna come out or how llong he would chase you for, seriously once I was running around racoon city for 30minutes+ just trying to escape him, he left though luckily

silent actually was scarier than re in my opinoin i mean how many times can zombies birds and dogs hopping throw windows stay scarier after the first game. i like silent hill because it's more artistic in its horror and easy to play once you fix the controls,it's not filled with cheap thrills as much also. i jumped in silent hill two when i was walkig down a hall and there's a guy on the other side (pyramid head) is standing there also when you get your flash light the manaquin comes alive and attacks you,and the puzzels were also harder and more confusing.

I've never really played Silent Hill, looks like a sick game to me really :P I only played the first R.E., wasn't the most scary thing like but it was pretty okay o.o (I wont cast my vote on poll yet, since I never really played Silent Hill, ever :P) So, so far I'll have to go with R.E. til' I play Silent Hill, looks rather sick though. :P

I agree with no one here but Keiskay.. RE 1 and 2 were pretty fun but I'm pretty tired of cheap thrills that doesn't even WORK! There were some scary moments in the first two games but in the rest of the games tehre were pretty much.... none? probably Nemesis in the third one but I think that RE is just lame compared to Silent Hill. Though I must say that RE4 was pretty fun to play even though it must be one of the most stupid games ever xD.. That game really filled my livingroom with laughter when me and my friends played it! Funny!:D

Silent Hill got this great atmosphere that really chills down to the bones and deep, involving storylines (especially the 2nd one... GREAT story! Feel sorry for you who haven't played the game or just simply don't understand the story).

The Characters in Silent Hill.. You learn to both like, feel sorry for and hate them.. And to mention one.. James Sunderland in SH2.. That's one character that you first feel sorry for and then... You who've finished the game knows what I'm talking about..

Silent Hill also got some of the greatest OST ever! They really add to the mysterious, dark, macabre and Surreal atmosphere and story..

Well, the Silent Hill series is certainly more 'terrifying' (though not in the sense that you would have nightmares...unless you are 'that sort of person') and was always good to play around midnight when you are by yourself, with the sound pumped up. You'd get a lot of good scares, in the sense that you'd be jumping out of your seat from time to time. I just love the chilling atmosphere of the games, and just the out-right disturbing-ness of it all.

Resident Evil seemed to focus a lot more on the action side of things, but I wasn't too impressed with the 'trapped' feeling of the first two titles. Being stuck inside a boring building most of the game just doesn't really do it for me. Perhaps it was a lack of effort, but the atmosphere and environments of Silent Hill were just very creative and always evolving. There are a lot more Resident Evil games then Silent Hill titles, but I won't factor that in to determine my opinion.

I love both series', but I'll have to throw my money behind Silent Hill for the win.

Soo lol im a EXTREME GAMER so i would no i must agree with you RESIDENT EVIL IS MUCH BETTER THAN SILENT HILL game and movie but game better it's more interactive u can do way more thingz than in silent hill it gets kinda boring!

I prefer SH to RE (although RE4 was a hell of a lot of fun)
Zombie games don't 'do' it for me much any more, they're usually now just a string of cheap shocks. I love the way that SH takes everyday things and twists them into something really disturbing (shop mannequins that try to eat you? Brilliant :D) - that kind of thing screams at your mind, 'THIS IS WRONG! THIS SHOULDN'T BE LIKE THIS!' and I find that far more chilling than 'rar, another zombie!'

Having said that, the first time you run into the head parasite things and the regenerators in RE4 is really damned freaky.

hahaha the resident evil movie was barely better than the ****ing house of the dead movie which was extremely terrible and re movie had nothing to do with the re storyline except umbrella t-virus and zombies. while the silent hill movie followed the storyline of the first one except it's a girl as the main character and not a guy,and overall better characters and monsters.and resident evil is a fun game but only challenging because a police station for some reason has very low amounts of ammunition and weird shaped keys that work for certain doors(re2) and plus puzzles the average 3rd grader can do. while sh puzzels take a very hard time to complete and have you searching around forever till you find out how to do it.

for me...i think that the story line of resident evil is s0o0o0o0o much better. But Silent hill is a much better game to play if you love horror...but i didnt enjoy the story line...thought it was SHiTz. so...RESIDENT EVIL RULEZ!

i don't like Silent hill controls are wierd but reisdent evil 4 controls weren't it was fun
