Dark Cloud is a RPG with Simulation elements made by Level 5 and released by Sony. There are two games in the series: Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicle (in the US also known as Dark Cloud 2). In the games you have to rebuild villages that have been wiped out by getting Atlamillia. You get them in the dungeons you have to complete.
Have anyone here played a Dark Cloud game?
I've played both games, but haven't finished them yet. With Dark Cloud I can't beat the final boss and in Dark Chronicle I'm at the final area, but I have to do many dungeon levels still...
I like Dark Chronicle more then Dark Cloud, because of the more features in the game, like Spheda and the improved battle system.

I have Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicle(aka Dark Cloud 2 in US and JPN). I enjoyed playing Dark Chronicle the most as it had a much better story and generally better gameplay to Dark Cloud, I really enjoyed the idea of making your own town, village and whatever else. A 10/10 Game series.

I have Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicle(aka Dark Cloud 2 in US and JPN).
It's also Dark Chronicle in Japan. :P See here: www.level5.co.jp/products/release/chronicle/ (http://www.level5.co.jp/products/release/chronicle/).
I've finished Dark Cloud yesterday. Making this thread make me think of trying the final boss again. And with success! :D
I also have both and have not yet beat them =P . I guess just kind of got bored and went to my mmorpg's I mean why pay for them if I'm not gonna play em?
I really enjoyed playing the Dark Cloud titles. The first one in the series was one of the first titles I picked up when I originally purchased a PS2 so many years ago, and Dark Chronicle had some nice new developments to improve an already decent format. I'm still holding out for a third Dark Cloud game, though there has been no news on the subject over at RPGamer for some time, in fact I remember seeing the name disappear from the lineup some time ago... Whether it has been updated or not, I don't know.
Anyhow, you may need to have an 'acquired taste' to enjoy these games, but if you are a true RPGer who holds no bias for flashy graphics and such, then you could seriously get stuck into the Dark Cloud series. You'll most likely either really like it; or thoroughly deplore them. They're probably worth nothing at game stores though if you could find them. :)

I use to own Dark Cloud but sold it... I regret doing that. I really enjoyed that game but never picked up the second installment. I should remedy that. >.>

Yeah, you should try and get the time. Its really better than Dark Cloud. Nice cel-shaded graphics and the golf mini-game Spheda is really a challenge. I have to finish it myself though...

Wel, I've finished the game this morning after a long time not playing it. The final dungeon just was too big in my opinion and gets boring. First I forgot a lot of chests so I was kinda weak before the final boss, but after some exploring I boosted my stats. The final boss wasn't really hard.
I don't think I'll do the optional dungeon. I've looked at how many levels there are and its too much...
