"Depressed Soldier"

He stands on the frontline, ready for battle
Looking across the war lines, at his enemies
Seeing every person he's ever cared about
Wishing he foresaw he wouldn't get any peace

They pulled out his past, their best offense
He looks deep into his soul, his only comrade
Fire in the eyes of his enemies, itching to kill
It was too late to stop it, they've all gone mad

He closed his eyes, dropped his arms to his sides
His former loved ones all began to run towards him
No longer feeding off his anger, he awaits death
Trying to let go of his memories like he was bored of em

They tore him to shreds, left his blood to dry
It was a bright night, as the moons were full
Outcast by everyone, everyone hated him
Not even his own spirit went to his funeral

Wow dude, I'd yet to read over any of your poetry. Damn, a good writer who can also make awesome graphics...usually it's one or the other (in my case, and plenty of others I know.) You and Nik truly are two of a kind. ;) I don't work too frequently in the 'poetry' department, though I've recently begun to 'open up' to the whole scene, mostly because I've read many of fine poems nestled within certain Dragonlance novels.

Your piece has great symbolism within it, and a good level of ‘cross interpretations’ surrounds it. Definitely a powerful poem, which I think you did a great job with. It was obvious that there would be no 'happy ending' from the beginning. Nice one.

Wooo, I didn't think I'd get any feedback on this. =p

Thanks for the kind words and complements! =D

Yeaaaaah I wanted to write it on a level that kind of started off sad and spiraled down into depressing.

=o You're starting to open up to poetry? You written any you wanna share yet? =p

Sorry for the double post, but I have to share this with everyone!

This poem will be published (yaaaay), in a book entitled Immortal Verses, which will be released next month (December 2006). So if anyone is into buying books of poetry, you can find it in this book. :p However, unfortunately... The book is running for $80 at retail price. >_<

It will have it's own page. Oddly enough, this poem has also made it into a nation-wide contest for $10,000. It is a semi-finalist thus far, I'll be discovering how far it makes as the contest progresses.

Wooo!

wow, this one is awesome Kryt, you have a way with words. I have had two of my poems published that i have written two years ago. I just stopped writing though. But after reading this poem, you have inspired me to pick up my best weapon: the pad and pen.

Thank you again Kryt.

100/10

i usually just write when I am depressed. and this poem has put me in a state of depression ( a good one...don't worry, its a good poem) that makes me wanna write again.

I just stopped writing cuz I didn't have any good critiquers, and reading yours, i know that i should just start putting my poetry on here.
