Just wondering if you guys have the setting that makes topics with new posts in them marked as 'read' via the Database setting rather than Inactivity/Cookie Based as a preference. I've noticed that lots of forum areas that haven't had any new posts in them for a fair amount of time are still considered as 'Unread'. If you don't know what I'm talking about it's in here:

vBulletin Options --> General Settings: Thread/Forum Read Marking Type

(X) Inactivity/Cookie Based (the optimum setting).
( ) Database (no automatic forum marking)
( ) Database (automatic forum marking)

Typically, just about every forum will automatically mark each topic as read after you leave your current session (either by logging out or just going away.) Indeed, if this annoyed anyone they could just click the 'Mark Forums Read' button, but you don't have to do that when the markings are Cookie based. So unless you guys prefer it the way it is, I think it'd be an improvement to implement the standard fare. Nothing vastly important, but it is helpful.

The marking type of cookies is currently set on Database (automatic forum marking). I don't know when this has been set, maybe it was default when we upgraded to vB 3.5.x. The option is processor intensive, so I'll change it too Inactivity/Cookie Based.

Indeed, when I set someone else's site up to the newer vBulletin version they were having the same problem and a few members were complaining as to why this was so. It would have to be a default setting that the guys at vB made part of the 3.6 branch; which seems a little weird to me. I guess it's just their preference... Thanks for the quick response.
