Sonic vs Mario

Which one is your favorite mascote? Sonic from Sega or Mario from Nintendo? And please tell us why.

Mine is Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog was the first game I've played back on the Sega Master System and I really like it, the speed, the nice looking levels and he looks better than Mario.

It'd have to be Sonic now. Use to stalk Mario when I was littler, but not so much now. I still play Super Mario Bros. 3 somethings, though. :D

I like Sonic better, more edge to him. Mario is an icon, don't get me wrong. But it comes down to who would I rather be stranded with, and dammit, Mario is too "Mama Mia" for my taste, if you know what i mean lol.

I like sonic better, the first game I ever played was sonic the hedgehog.I think the sonic games were better then the mario games and sonic is alot better looking then mario. lol

Thats what happen in the at the start of the console war thats why sonic was made more success ful than super mario

Sonic is my fav. Mario can only jump and shoot fire while sonic can use emeralds, run, jump blow up tv's, etc.. plus, he's blue, and thats what is important.

I was brought up as a Nintendo kid. When discussing anything games-related, I pride myself on that. I wouldn't base who you prefer on what abilities each character has but rather their motives and I love the fact Mario spends his time saving a Princess. It's like a classic fairytale and that's what makes Nintendo special to me.

I´ve played Mario Land as I was a little child, I found it really funny to hit some flying stones above me and it was just cool for me
But after the time the story gets lame, the graphics are lame, the songs and sounds are lame, if you could call any of them a "song"
Mario looks stupid, sounds stupid, and is stupid. So...
Sonic is fast and cute, he is looking much better then Mario and Jason Griffin is a great speaker. The storyline is really interesting in each game, and if it´s not different from older Sonic-Games.

Sonic ftw. Mario has good games, true, but the character has tried squeezing himself into virtually every gaming genre ever made and has gotten pretty repetitive in recent years. Sonic, however, has stuck to the same genre, the one he's best at, for the most part (minus one puzzle and one boarding game) and I say he's only been getting bad in recent platformer games (he's still real good on the handheld systems, though). However, I still really enjoy Suuper Mario World, Super Mario 64, Paper Mario and Yoshi's Story

I've played Mario games since I was 3 and that was the frist game I played then I played Sonic on the game gear.

So I can't really pick who I like more right now, but maybe when I get the Wii and the new Mario game comes out for it then maybe I'll vote for Mario.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles, srsly. I'm actually considering doing a speed run of it here on my computer with Knuckles and have actually been timing myself as I play it.

D-Pad, Jump, Double-Jump=insta-shield, flight, gliding or transformation. Mario I don't really remember at all >_>

Out of all of these? Sonic 1-3. Haven't played a Mario game in some time, methinks (apart from Smash Bros Melee, that is.

im stuck between mario and sonic because the sonic storyline was vague and had no intro movie scenes or whatever they were called on the nintendo and snes. sonic did have better gameplay and funner levels but was very frustrating and annoying and the bosses were repetitive i mean just mister egghead over and over with just different machines each time. mario had various kupa kids and things sonic had the same enemies in every level no variety.but character wise sonic is cooler because i hate mario but i think luigi is the shiz. and yoshi awesome also.

I played mario on a windows 3.1 machine when i was 14 or so but never made it futher then 2 levels. While i finished sonic with all 4 caracters :)

I like Sonic more because

-...of the Story! It's always the same with Mario: Princess kidnapped, going to save princess, juming on Mushrooms....At least SEGA varies the stories a little, so that they're not as boring.
-....of the soundtracks! SEGA (Sonic Team) always creates great and individual soundtracks for the Games.
-...Sonic's Style is pretty cool!
-...the characters in Sonic games are cute^^ (Shadow~~~)

Super sonic would beat super mario with or without a star. Sonic looks cooler has a better feel and the game play is smooth, quick and there are tons of characters to choose from so sonic.
