I simply LOVE that anime. One of the first anime's I got into. I really the ideas and story in it. Guymelifs are just so freaking awesome with such good detail. I thought the love story was very good too.

I like it. The love story part was a little wacky, but ignoring that, the anime is great! I thought Van was pretty cool.

I watched it through once when it came on tv. But then for some reason the last episode wasn't aired, so alas I missed the end! :( I bought the anime a couple months ago and finally saw the end. I noticed one difference between them though, When I saw the anime on tv, (I think it was on Fox Kid's before it became the Fox Box, if anyone knows what I'm talking about) the intro and theme song of the anime was different from the intro and theme song of the one I bought. It was a really cool song and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Not that it really has anything to do with how the anime itself is great or anything, Just something I was thinking about.

I wish Escaflowne had ended differently. It also really started to confuse me when they got in depth with the whole grandma thing.

I watched it before I read it. The anime was okay but the last episode sucked a bit when it got sappy. The manga was good and I liked the ending. I haven't seen the movie.

The reason there's three different version is because the original creator passed away so other people did various versions of the story.

[EDIT] In the anime the people of Gaia were from Atlantis (Vaan's wings). In the manga they're just achient humans.

Escaflowne is one of the few anime movies i really really liked, i thought it was great and the plot was pretty solid aswell.
overall i recomend watching it if anyone had any doubts about doing so.

I've seen the movie which was decent. The fight sences were really cool (and very bloody). I know the series used to come on t.v. a long time ago but i never really had intrest in it. I might go look it up on Youtube or something.

Depends what we are actually talking about... I have yet to watch the actual Escaflowne movie, though from what I viewed of the first episode, I'll say the series looked quite impressive. It's defintely right up my alley where decent fantasy-based Anime is concerned, and the visuals were good enough to not make you want to tear your eyes out in disgust. I'll probably face disappointment if I watch the whole series and then the movie, so I suppose I'll try and reverse said order. Any opinions on whether that would be the best idea? I do surmise that a long series of a similar storyline would be much more efficient than a short movie, though.
