wii, ps2, xbox, gamecube, xbox 360, PS3
seriously, i think sony made a big mistake... €600 (60GB version) WTF is wrong with them! PS2 only costing €129... that's smart... wii, that's a revolution (pun intended ;))
For me it would have to be:
1) Wii (Interesting idea and a really decent price)
2) PS3 (I was Sony all the way, but the PS3 pricing just went to far)
There is no room for the Xbox 360 in my life. What a piece of expensive noisy bland looking crap!
Ive always thought PS3 > Xbox 360 > Wii, always preferred PS over everything else but I recently bought a 360 as it was mega cheap and I really really like it. Some of the games are stunning especially in HD and its got some really good exclusive to xbox RPG's. Can't really say if I prefer PS3 or xbox 360 untill I get a PS3.
but the wii and the 360 suck, i mean the ps3 is hd and its totally worth 600 dollars. you can do every thing you do with the psp with it and much more sony is always ahead. plus the memory is awsome and big deal with the glitches. im also sure dat ps3 title are going to be great. the starter games are eh but besides that......the game i know will be grate because i think that the problem is that video game makers dont no how to use the os3 withs it full potential....... i also think any one who likes the wii ass first is stupid cause clearly the ps3 is better with the technology and game play and wi has crappy titles. zelda is the only good game for it

I've been a PS fan since I got my Playstation in 1995, and I've always looked at the PS superior to the 64, and respectively the PS2 to the Xbox and Gamecube. But in this current next-gen war, I am going to admit, I am very displeased at the PS3 launch. However I'm aware that the PS2 debuted at $300, and had a crappy launch. But the PS3 is currently $600 for the good one, and it has a crappy launch still. There's lots of glitches, errors in the backwards compatibility...
Thus far, the only games I'm interested in for PS3 are Assassin's Creed (multi-platform as well), Devil May Cry 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, FFXIII, FFVXIII, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and a couple of others I can't remember atm. To me, that's not enough to justify a $650 purchase (after tax).
I've played plenty of the Wii, and the 360. The 360 just feels like an improved Xbox. The Wii feels revolutionary (pun intended too, Pas. XP). However, I still have my things to complain about for the Wii. The whole motion sensor thing can either be your best friend or worst enemy. It's always my worst enemy, but I've seen it in action when it's the player's best friend.

You get what you pay for.
PS3 = Pwn.
Sony did not make a big mistake. They lost out big on console sales, it costs alot more to make a sony PS2 than the price they are selling for.
Take it apart and look for yourself if you dare.
Roughly $850 per console, and they sold for $500-$600. Average of $200 per console. Times that by the people amount of people that will buy it. Some will even probably buy 2 or more.
$200 X by the millions that will buy it!
Xbox 360, Wii, PS3.
If I could afford, I would personally get all three since i'm not an ignorant fanboy (not saying any of you are *cough*). I mean all three have something to offer and great games that are out or going to be out =/ While there isn't anything special about the Xbox 360 (which like many said, is just an improved Xbox with some extra features), there's several games on there that I really want. The only thing that sucks (atleast in my case) is the price xP. If I couldn't get the Xbox 360 (which I don't atm) I would totally get the Wii, I mean it's just an awesome idea ;o As for the PS3, there's several games on there that look pretty good, but other than that there's nothing special about it IMO.

and don't forget this: while in the USA loads of people have a HDTV($1000) the rest of the world is still on SDTV($200) (one thing that influences this is the crappy NTSC in the USA while other parts of the world are using PAL)
oh... this post is made from my wii
okay, now just one thing to add to the discussion to think about:
anyone remember Betamax?
(and how about the physical quality of the actual product, i remember certain products with laser-lens problems ;))

Mine would be a ps3. Although i havent been on one i still think it will be better than the xbox 360. I cant really judge the nintendo wii since i havent been on that either although i do like the nunchuk controller and that zelda game.
i think that the ps3 is a little disapointing.i see no reason for the sixaxis modification and was a fan of the vibrator function because it made shooting games and games in general more exciting.maybe i guess the sixaxis can be good sometimes for games like warhawk and games where you can steer by moving the controller.other than that i also liked the boomerang because it was different but i was told it had problems so okay dual shock 3 is ok too
the launch was bad, resistence was good but everything else was mediocore.with all the other features of the ps3 i still think that right now 360 is better.isn't the disc inserting thing in the ps3 also disfunctional?i've heard so
lets see what happens in an year or so
just so you know the only consoles i have are psx and ps2

It's really like my brother said last night:
Xbox 360 started off as the best, but is now more the second best just like the original Xbox compared to the rest of its generation of gaming. However, where PS2 was the best of the last gen and the Gamecube the worst, it seems like quite the opposite for the companies behind the two systems.
The reasons the Wii is and will be very successful is that it is a great family console, you actually get a workout while playing it (I was sweating and sore after fishing in Twilight Princess for 15 minutes, and that was only the demo o_O) and it seems like this may be the first step to virtual reality.
The PS3 has let people down for reasons including the incredibly high price (which is twice as much as either the Wii or the 360), glitches in the system (though this is to be expected as it's the same thing that happened to the 360 last year. Nintendo already experienced and fixed their problem in the Wii remote's wrist straps) and the fact that there were indeed still games that were incompatible with the PS3.
I personally really prefer the Wii but I wouldn't mind either of the other two systems. 360 has games like Dead Rising and Gears of War (both more Third-Person Shooters, technically, and I'm often NOT a shooter fan @_@) and PS3 has Resistance: The Fall of Man, and I'm sure it's gonna get more good games (I'm looking at Assassin's Creed on this one) but Nintendo really does look most promising this time around.
i've heard that the wii is extremely fun.even with the fun factor i think wii is still going to be the third in terms of ps3 vs 360 vs wii but it looks like a major improvement over gamecube (i've heard graphics aren't all that good).
does Wii have online though?

The Wii does have online capabilities and even has built in Wi-Fi, and yet, in terms of features, games and prices, i would go for the Xbox 360 (which i will get in January!).
One reason over the Wii is that it has a built in hard drive, pre-established online multiplayer service and a good overall smattering of games with some exceptional FPS's. while the Wii may have these and more soon, it's only true advantage is the style of play. But that is a major deciding factor I guess.
It also has the same advantages over the PS3, is much less glitchy and is much cheaper. Although the PS3 does have a hard drive. But really, for all three systems, it's but a matter of opinion.
ps3 has a long way to go before beating 360.how much is the 360 in dollars?
Sephiroth912
29-12-2006, 00:10
300 for the core package and 400 for the premium one.
thats fair enough but you know sometime later on blue rays are going to give the ps3 the upperhand.but for now i'm just sitting back and waiting for 07.

yes, I agree. That's exactly the reason why the ps2 succeeded in Japan: it was expensive, but the cheapest source of DVD in the country at the time!

The PS3 looks way better than the PS2 and even better than the Xbox 360.
My favorite system would be the Wii since it's made by Nintendo and I plan on buying one once I have the cash for it, 1 game (The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess) and a 1.0 Gigabyte Memory Card.
Also my nephue is getting the Wii this month if Wal-Mart has them in where he lives of course.
Wii has recieved too much hype and needs to be shot, its different but its not great. A few of my friends couldnt wait for the release and they werent that impressed with it either, its pretty much just an arcade at home with different games. Nintendo could of done better, the remote control will become boring fast and thus they will return to consoles such as XBOX360 + PS3 for games that support their controllers, whereas you'll find that Wii willprobably just have mot games based on the remote.
i would have to say 360 hands down. There are just soo many different things you can do ln live and it just totally amazes me especially for the price of the system compared to ps3's $600. I want a Wii but i dont plann on buying one until i play one. I also have always liked Sony but as of right now i love my 360 too much. But if io do get around to it, i will probably purchase a ps3 in the future.

I´d rather buy a WII it´s funny, it´s kinda remake of Eyetoy, but there are controllers
It´s fun
thats actually a funny way of looking at it, i seriously loled but too bad the first set of controllers break and they now have to do a recall on them

I'll go for the PlayStation 3 all the way. The PlayStation and PlayStation 2 are really good consoles which lots of RPGs and I think the PlayStation 3 will do that too.
The Wii is just an improved GameCube with a remote. Ain't seeing me sweeping with it. And the Xbox 360 is crap. Too much shooters and racers and almost no good RPGs.
@Blaise: Do you mind if I'll add a poll?
all those out who hate 360 have you actually gave the console a chance all p3 has for it (on the next gen list)is a maybe kh3 and the ffXII series but thats all the system is pretty much a rip off since the cheapest hdtv is a 480 p and thats 1000 - 2000 dollars and the 1080p piece of shit 5000 dollars. and plus it' defect rate is 80% many Japanese returned their systems a and got 360's and purchased square enix's exclusive 360 game blue dragon and there is no source just the American news paper and gaming magazines which have long discarded that article from their database plus most of the good games are also gonna be on both systems so why spend 5700 (1080p hdtv and the rough price of a 60g ps3)dollars just for better graphics and omg six axis and 80 dollar bluray games and dvds. now don't get me wrong i like sony also but im going to wait for the price to go down since its shelf life is over 10 years so im saving up for something better instead of a ps3 (like a car maybe) and when the ps3 is only 300 or 200 bucks and hdtv prices go down then ill buy one.

... and got 360's and purchased square enix's exclusive 360 game blue dragon ...
It's not made by Square Enix, but by Mistwalker (which was founded by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the Final Fantasy series).
I already said in my previous post, the Xbox 360 has a lack of good RPGs. Only Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.
And I'm not buying the PlayStation 3 when its released here in March. I have plenty of games still to play on my PlayStation 2 (Final Fantasy XII next month). :)

I'll be buying the Nintendo Wii once I get the money for it.
My mom and dad will be giving me $100 from their tax returns plus $20 more since I let them borrow that much to buy food.
Not sure how much I'll get for my tax returns, but I hope that it's the same ammount that I got last year which was $254.

neither does ps3 this gaming period all i have seen was ff13 and kh3.but 360 did pull out a excellent shooter gears of war it's not like the others just run around and machine gun blast a guy right in his face till hi head explodes. it made a very realistic point and made cover useful with the use cover or get your ass kicked system and very intelligent ai.it actually made the game very fun and different except for the lack of a storyline but what other game has viscous and tactically incline enemies plus they can do every thing you can do also.
lol @ Sony fanboy/girl posts made in this thread.
I don't see how anyone could possible think the PS3 actually looks good as in it's actual appearance. It looks crap compared to the Wii (which is simple and plain) or the Xbox 360 (has a funky look to it lol). I mean it looks liek a frickin' scanner O.o the PS2 looked better in terms of appearance.
Wow just because it's gonna have Blu-ray doesn't mean it's going to be better than the others liek wtf. New shit doesn't always mean it's better. Liek seriously talk about ignorant fanboy/girls ;o Seriously they're all alright consoles tbh. Well appear to be (i've only played the 360, yet to play the Wii and obviously not hte PS3, but it looks nice) anyways.
Deadrising is an action rpg and guns are pretty rar and boring to use and only necessary for bosses so it's more like a one person brawler and gow is a strategical shooter and resistence fall of man is crap needless to say it basically wolfenstien with made up weapons and some different enemies but not as original as it is said.
alright
ps3 does not equal pwn since although there online is free the ****ing connection is expensive and faulty and very useless and worthless.has no added fun value like 360's achievement system adds more to the game instead of just running around to just actually beat the game. and ps3 is just a modified ps2 seriously all the same features except blu ray dvd's and a hardrive and 1000$ of equipment whch over heats extreamelly fast and breaks down after 4hours of nonstop gameplay seriously. and what the **** ps3 is size of the ****ing box it comes it to goddamn huge and so it does have better graphics and more processors and a gigantic size that can't fit in the are as my other systems. yes i have a ps3 i've been through 6 of them now and that is ridiculous and plus it's defect rate is just too high to bother so when this one breaks and i get my new one im selling it on the ebay's im mean come 80% percent and then the peoples ps3 that didn't work out of the box plus being money grubbing and only sending 400,000 on the release date and causing violence.
Here are my thoughts on each of the new consoles respectively:
Xbox 360: To have a year's head-start in the next-gen console war, Microsoft surely had a great advantage. Their gaming selection is quite good for the non-kiddy gamer, and if you like Online gameplay then Xbox Online is the pioneer of that department; hands down. Also, now that the developers have had a whole year to work with the console, that experience will really push games over the edge for 2007 on that system. That’s surely a great thing if you want some rather fancy games with awesome graphics and limitless gameplay. Fans of Halo 3 will flock to the Xbox 360 without question, but titles like Gears of War and Dead Rising have shown us all that the Xbox ain’t all about Halo. I’ll definitely be getting this console when the price comes down.
Nintendo Wii: Unfortunately, I’m a bloke in my mid-twenties who has no love for childish games and those that everyone deems ‘fun and innovative’; which means I think the Wii-mote is a bit of a wank, and the current lineup of games just doesn’t tickle my fancy. I don’t hate the Zelda games or anything, but I’ve yet to check out the earlier titles so I won’t be wanting to touch Twilight Princess for many years; so that’s not a positive factor for my buying a Wii. Aside from that, some naïve folk will quickly think “The Wii is the cheapest so I’ll get it hands-down!”. However, when you add the cost of a second controller (everyone needs one of them) and the memory card, you're looking at over a hundred extra dollars, bringing the price up to the level of the basic Xbox 360 package. (I'm talking AUS currency here; but you get the idea).
Playstation 3: Well, it’s not out in Australia yet, but that’s beside the point. I won’t be picking up one of these until it has had at least a year to reduce in price, and to have certain bugs and glitches fixed. Anyone with half a brain knows that initial console builds are quite shabby, so there’s nothing to motivate me to shell out $1000 for a PS3 when it is released. Indeed, some good RPGs will definitely grace the console with their presence; but I’ll wait until such a time that there are plenty of them, at an agreeable price.
All things considered, I’ll probably end up getting an Xbox 360 for my first next-gen console. Why? Well, I have no plans to do so for several months to come, but by then the price will be decent and a stable release of the console will be nicely perfected by then. I make it a habit of waiting at least a year or two before buying a new console, so in that case I don’t plan on owning a Wii or PS3 for some time; you do the math. I will however own all three of them by 2009. That’s an easy promise.
@ keiskay: Yeah people are saying the Xbox 360 is just an improved version of it's original (Which it is, but atleast it looks better and isn't as fat lol). Well same to the PS3, I mean it doesn't really have anything new about it except better graphics and whatnot. There is the new controller but it's nothing TOO special (personally I prefer the vibration, but that's just me). It's just got new technology that's all, but this time it's all stuffed into this fat ugly scanner-looking thing xP.

PS3 DUUUUH!
Wii = Quite fancy in multiplayer games. I do miss the good graphics and more story-mode related games though. I also think the fact that it uses regular DVD's is just a big let-down as when the Gamecube was announced to use the mini-DVD's. I could learn to love this console. Right now I just think of it as a waste of money.
360 = Not too many great games to offer. Gears of War changed that though, yet I think it's WAY overhyped. Their online service is great and the graphics as well. As sad as it makes me to say this as I've always hated Microsofts attempt to conquer all of the electronic world. I'd choose the 360 over the Wii any day.
PS3 = Won't get my hands on one of these before next Friday. After playing it for some days I'll edit this with my opinion about this console as well. At the mo I think the PS3 is the only one of these seventh-gen consoles that really could qualify as "next-gen". The Wii has slightly improved Gamcube graphics, an in my eyes silly controller system and silly games. Besides Zelda. And it's not even HDTV supportive. The 360 has HD graphics, but lacks quality games. So my reasoning brings me to belive that none of the opponents are near the PS3.
But that might change after I've tried it.

To be honest, I'm not all that bothered this time. I've kinda grown outta games. If anything before maybe the Xbox 360 was released I'd have wanted a Wii but as much as I like it and all that, I kinda not focus on buying a games console right now. Especially at the ridiculous price of £499 for a PS3. They better have a lot of hope for that, with that price. I'd rather spend that on clothes or something these days. I'd honestly regret buying a console for that amount of money.
Moral of the story is simply, if I did have the chance though and was motivated to buy one, I'd go for the Wii cause it's revolutionary and looks great fun.

When the 360 released, I thought it was doomed from the start, and that I should just wait for the PS3, but after about two months, its games were much more appealing to me. The Wii plays great, and is terrific fun, but graphics are a deal to me, and I think a next-generation system should look next-gen, but big kudos to Nintendo for switching the game up. /wink As for the PS3, I understand that it's got super-duper capabilities, and can do things that no system has done before, but lord, we're not made of money. Still waiting on that "price drop after the first months or so", btw. >.>;;
So, in order of which I'd rather own, it's the xbox360, with the Wii very close behind, and the PS3 dead last. o.o

The ps3's in the stores never work cuz the store clerk gets tired of having to reset it so much.
I dunno about you Alex but I still see some Wii's on the shelves at my local EB Games lol.
I've never seen a Wii in stock, anywhere, ever.... o.o I find PS3's everywhere though >.> lol
i just saw 360's bioshock exclusive lets just say this game proves that 360 pwns ps3 the game has hard and difficult choices that are both in morals and actually affect the game greatly while ps3 has lets see nothibng cept ff13 and thats well it therefore it has less good games than 360 360's next gen list is promising with amazing next gen games like too human and half life 3
My preferences are kind of balanced between the 360 and the PS3, but if I had to say one, I'd definitely say without hesistation that the PS3 holds a special place in my heart.
Now, as for why I've come to this decision. Several games have been released recently for the 360 which I'm interested in. The first being Command & Conquer 3. I think it might be fun to play a popular RTS on a console, and even on X-Box live with other people. Secondly, I've been quick to put down the Halo series without actually playing it much, so I might go for Halo 3 when it comes out, and if I like it enough, I'll get the other two Halo games.
As for the PS3, I'm excited for the release of Final Fantasy 13 and White Knight Story. Both of those promise to be really awesome games which an RPG fan wouldn't want to miss. White Knight Story is even said to be "the next generation of roleplaying games".
Everyone says PS3 hasn't sold much or flopped.. but really the numbers show the PS3 sold more consoles in 3 the first three months of being out then the 360 or wii.
The ps3 is by far the best console.. except I hate the high price.. so I'm not buying till it goes down.
yes but to what avail the ps3 is going to be overstocked till square makes a popular rpg for it or a game that everyone absolutely must have.so ps3 did flop in the long run and wii seems to be the most selling of 3 since i see more 360's and ps3 in stock than wiis so wii is the marketing selling monster right now. plus wii actually has a higher chance at the nextgen console award than either of the 3 systems one its much funner to play and family oriented systems sell better than single geeky male system.

Actually I'd have to disagree.. The wii only has less consoles on the shelves because it's their market deploy to make it look like it was in high demand (thus not shipping much out, making it look like shortages etc..)
If you look at actually sales, the PS3 has sold over 30,000 more consoles then the 360, and even more so over the Wii. The Wii is far behind in sales compared to the others. And the Wi''s main fault is that all their most popular titles are being made by Nintendo only really.. Super Smash Bros, Zelda, Mario, etc... Nintendo Wii doesn't have much of a third party market.. and thats why its failing.
I find it humorous, all the people continue to say the Wii is superior and the PS3 is a flop.. when if they'd simply look at sales the PS3 is by far the top dog.
Ummmm..... PS3 is behind everyone else in sales lol (obviously).
The reason for that is (again, obviously) because PS3 was released after everyone else.
Also, the price was pretty high and there was a lack of games at launch.
Liek seriously, what sales are you looking at? O_o
no moar fanboi plz, kay?

I'm looking at the console sales in the latest Game Informer Magazine showing the sales of the 3 consoles. And PS3 has sold more then both of them in a shorter amount of time. Obviously you haven't looked at the sales.. so you are just going off of your opinions.. Your the only fanboy I see Daniel. =P
Lol. You never said most sales in shortest amount in time. You just said sales so I assumed you meant overall sales which from when I last checked 360 was around 10 million, PS3 was at 3-4 million and Wii at 6-7 million.
And nothing in my previous post was an opinon lol. Except maybe the part where I said "the price was pretty high", but with most people it's pretty much true (the other being rich people xP lol).
I only said fanboi cause I know you're a (seemingly very supportive? =p) fan of Playstation/Sony. And the fact that you said, "I find it humorous, all the people continue to say the Wii is superior and the PS3 is a flop.. when if they'd simply look at sales the PS3 is by far the top dog."
Anyways, I don't see how sales really mean anything xP. Obviously the PS3 is going to beat the 360 and Wii in sales eventually, probably by next year. It'll pretty much be like that with the next-gen unless the make a really shitty system lol. Doesn't really mean it's the better system though because it's all personaly prefernce unless you mean something specific like better specs or more/better RPG's, etc
Actually I don't own any next-gen console.. and I won't for a while. But I'm really more interested in the Wii at the moment. However I do want a PS3 as well. I've always liked the PS' but that doesn't make me a fanboi. You won't see me getting a PSP, or DS either though. I'm not a fan of handhelds. =P

lemme repeat the latest numbers (dynamically updated)
http://nexgenwars.com/images/all_forum2.jpg (http://nexgenwars.com/)
if you calculated the delayed release in europe porperly, PS3 is 1.5 months behind on Wii and Xbox has about 1 year headstart
and koby, if i sell 1 mont perfect and then nothing or i sell 10 months very good, who is better ;)
xbox all the way or wii but not the ps3 do not I repat do not waist your money
I already got a PS3, a gift from my aunt in Canada. It has to be nice having to throw away your money like that.
you should trade it in and get a Xbox elite
Yeah, it's pretty boring since so far, every PS3 game I see in local stores are about Gundam. Well, not that I don't like Gundam but its battle system kinda gets too repetitive.
wow i havent been on here for a while anyways this year i was watching e3 and the ps3 is coming out with alot of cool new games! but most are for 2008

Yeah, I think I'll wait with buying a PlayStation 3 to next year. There are only a few games that I'm interested in. I still have enough games to finish luckily.

I have played the Wii and haven't played the 360 nor the PS3 so I will hold judgment till then. But I think that the PS3 will surly pwn all other consoles.
It may indeed. I will probably hold off on buying one until next year as well. Waiting for that "Title" to really get me psyched about buying one.

None of them, they are ALL a waste of money.
I own an Xbox360 and all I really use it for is to play DVDs. It barely has any RPGs on it and I get bored of the fighting games fast. It's nice graphics and all but it definitely lacks RPGs. Same goes for PS3 and WII. I only wanted a PS3 just to play FF13 but by then, thats when I'll consider buying a PS3. The only thing WII is good for is Zelda Twilight Princess, and maybe WII sports. I don't have to be spending my entire time swinging my hand all day when I could actually be playing the actual sport. I passed the age for most WII games. PS3 and Xbox are lacking RPGs, and I was expecting so. I don't know if it's just me that thinks this but I believe that in the future, they will extinct RPGs. All I am sorry is that they focus A LOT of graphics and gameplay. The storyline and the other rpg elements are lacking in department. Soon it will be fighting games, car games and sports games. Those type of gamers will be happy, I'm sure.
I'm sorry if I sound put down but I guess I am losing faith in some games. When I picked up the game, "Enchanted Arms" for the Xbox360, I didn't play it more than a day. It just didn't feel like a good rpg, I remember when I played FF7, FF8, FF9 and FF10, I felt so connected to those games. Same for Xenosaga, Grandia and Kingdom Hearts. I miss those games.. I wish they could do something like those games. Maybe, I am just expecting a lot from an RPG but idk.. It's like I can play an rpg in 2D graphics and still be happy with it.
Personally, I wasn't too pleased with the FFs after X. They didn't feel like FFs anymore.. I guess I am getting worried about it. Well, I'll have to admit, XII isn't so bad. I hate the story and Vaan isn't good enough to be the main lead. He basically hitchhikes with them and thats it, same for Penelo. But they have nice areas.
Anyhow.. We'll see in the future what will happen, right?

ps3
all right ps3 is finally starting to pick up and now they are releasing good games that aren't sports or racing related i actually want one now also 360's blue dragon is going to be awesome and ps3 and 360 graphics are now equal so forget your graphics debate.
PS3 for me but thats on future potential. My 360 is about to take the lead in terms of games with Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect. Blue Dragon is just...hmm. A sub-par Mistalker debut. LO is basically FFX with a new story though by the looks of the hands-on so that'll be excellent.
Wii is just...if you like playing the same game over and over (Zelda/Metroid) or platformers (Mario) then you're set. The Wii really doesn't have anything esle and the motion sensing waving thing is impractical in a students room. I have PS3s and 360s and music equipemnt to knock over.
I like the 360 the best. I would get a Wii but I don't really want to have to work by jumping around and stuff..plus my cousin's already broken lots of her things because of Wii.

I think Sony made a huge mistake by dropping the backwards compatibility of the PlayStation 3 (40 GB version). I want to play all my PSone and PS2 games on my PS3, since I don't know how long my PS2 will hold out. If that happens I also need to buy a PS2. :(
I hope they'll bring back backwards compatibility in the future.

They are starting to become boring and they are eating everyone's money. Sadly the rpg department is bing destroyed. Wii is cheap but I do not like the new style of controler and aiming. The ps3 has the most future potential but it will take years to develop games that meet the high standard set by it's predesesser. The Xbox 360 is the best so far by personal experience. I hate buying a system for only one game like ff13 Zelda twilight princess and Halo. I bought my Xbox originally just for Halo. I know that they are a last of time but they are still fun and useful for entertainment.
I think I would have to put the Wii at the top of my list just now. I've never played a PS3, but the price just puts me way off and I doubt I would ever have the chance to get one. Sure, it could be good value even though it's so much money, but it's the fact that you have to spend so much to get it in the first place. And there's the cheaper version, which I think has no backwards compatibility? That wouldn't be much use to me, because after spending so much on getting the console in the first place, I wouldn't have much money available to buy the actual PS3 games, I think. The 360... I've played it a little bit, but it didn't seem that much more groundbreaking than the Xbox. Plus, although I did enjoy the games, I didn't find it REALLY fun, but I'm not that much of a Halo fan. The Wii, on the other hand, though I've also not played it much, I really did find it a lot of fun. I like that it's more of a family console, and there are interesting multiplayer games on it. However, I suppose that it might be different if I owned it myself, and having to use the remote could get tiresome after a little while.

I personally like the PlayStation 3 and the Wii best because... well there awesome! I have a PS3 and it owns! :D i don't see what everyone thinks is so bad about it ;( everyone just wants a 360 for their HALO junk. I mean if I got a 360 sure Iw ould buy Halo 3 just to see how the story ends because I've played and beat the first 2 on my old Xbox which OWNED I would also get Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata because I've always wanted to play those game. And theres alot of good and awesome Wii games and the PlayStation 3 has almost all the 360 games coming, I hope that Blue Dragon comes to it. but oh... em... gee... I'm getting off topic anyways thats just my opinion PS3 > Wii > 360

I don't see how anyone could possible think the PS3 actually looks good as in it's actual appearance. It looks crap compared to the Wii (which is simple and plain) or the Xbox 360 (has a funky look to it lol).
Looks really nice next to my Black HDTV, actually. Fits nicely in the entertainment center, and isn't HUGE LIEK XBOX.
Blu-Ray players themselves cost more than the PS3. So yeah. Not only that, PS3 Blu-Ray Player is upgradeable, it was released with Blu-Ray 1.0, then patched through internet update to 1.1. It will also be upgraded to BD-Live 2.0, when it gets released, giving it a huge amount of additional features. If you bought a 1.0, or 1.1 Blu-Ray stand-alone player, then it won't be upgradeable. It's called future-proofing, and the PS3 is packed with it.
I've had mine for a while now, and while I'll admit it looks just okay with my SDTV, but when I got my new HDTV and plugged it in...just wow. It gives up to a 1080p signal, and my HDTV only supports 720p/1080i, but the picture is still incredible.
I was playing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare online the other day, and in one of the game lobbies a guy came in and said through his head-set: "Wow, this looks so much better than the 360 version." Says it all!
Edit: Forgot to mention PS3 prices are a lot better now, got mine for $415? Backward compatibility works fine for me so far, PSone and PS2 smoothing is a nifty feature. Whenever I'm bored I can go to the PS-store through my PS3, download a demo, or buy a PS3/PSP game on there and download it. I haven't even tried the Blu-Ray player yet, but I'm hoping to soon.
Well uh not to burst your bubble Manick, but xbox 360 has better online then PS3.
The PS3 at the moment sucks major ass, and yes I own both the PS3 and 360 and i'm more impressed with the 360 then I am with the PS3.
PS3 Graphics maybe better, but if you don't have HDTV they are kinda both the same anyway. I haven't noticed any difference between games made for 360 and ps3 graphic wise on my television.
Wii + 360 IMO are owning the PS3, I dont know about anywhere else but where I lived, the entire of kent had a shortage of Wii's and guess what? everyone wanted one for christmas lol and my mate who works in game said they hardly sold any PS3's (but then again, that's probs because sony are twats and took off the 60gb's).
PS3 need's some decent crap, playing the same games that 360 have just on PS3 for slightly better graphic's is meaningless. Graphic's on games on that bad anymore their unplayable so graphic's doesn't really effect gameplay and if it does, then your a bit of an idiot really lol.
PS3 isn't THAT much smaller then the 360 either anyway. And I'm not an xbox fangirl btw, I was rooting for PS3 till I got one...
I have to say i prefer the 360 over the ps3 over the WII( WII sucks plain and simple, its a kiddy pool compared to the PS# and 360), I still like the PS3 its just that the 360 has a graeter variety and its ceaper and it also has a kick (kick@$$) butt online system that beats the PS3's anyday. But the ps3 does have better graqhics for it uses blu-ray while the 360 uses HD-DVD

Well uh not to burst your bubble Manick, but xbox 360 has better online then PS3.
I never said PS3 had better online service than PS3? You pay for XboxLive, right? PS-Online is free, I can see why it isn't going to be better, especially if they're getting extra money via XboxLive subscription per month. I don't know about you, but I would rather not pay another fee (As I'm already paying for MMO's.). However if Xbox scrapped the fee for the 360, then this is moot. Also, Xbox has had a considerably longer time to improve on their online functions, whereas PSN is relatively new.
so graphic's doesn't really effect gameplay and if it does, then your a bit of an idiot really lol.
Have to disagree with this. If you play competitive online play on your console, then you'll understand why. While it's not an issue for online games that aren't cross-platform, but I know some are planned to be. PS3 players would have the advantage graphics-wise over Xbox 360, while PC players will still have the huge advantage over both of the consoles.
But I agree it isn't a huge point, especially if you don't play games that require you to be focusing on everything on the screen. But I also know first hand how frustrating it can be when people wipe the floor with you in online play because you can't see shit as clearly as the other people. (Battlefield 2 for PC...orz)
im a playstation girl all the way all the game series i like comes on them like final fantasy, metal gear solid's resident evil's
nintendo does't apeal me all the games are way to cartooney......it's like they only want to apeal to a younger audence.
there only so many times you can play mario and yoshi
and as for the wii ,i dont see the point in swinging your arm around just to move across the screan (when you can just press a button)
as for xbox i would use it as a door stopper or maybe keep my shelf up!
as for xbox i would use it as a door stopper or maybe keep my shelf up!
you do know that the 360 and ps3 are identical in almost every way other then ps3 uses blu-ray (more dpi) and their online system.....so i don't care which one i get as long as its not a Wii....unless it comes with brawl that is.
