View Full Version : Computer Crashing Problem
My computer keeps crashing. But the weird thing is, it usually happens when i'm playing Warcraft III (could apply to other games but this is the only game i'm really playing atm lol). Like it just closes my computer - usually when i'm in a game or about to start one (as in over Bnet), or even during the loading screen. It's really starting to get annoying now so anyone know how to fix it? ><
I've tried using my spyware removers and virus cleaners (my virus program is just some free thingo so lol and Norton didn't really solve the problem). I even reinstalled Warcraft which helped for a bit but then they just started happening again :S

The same thing happened to my friend, but it was for a different game, and then progressed to happen for every game. The reason it happened for him was because his video card was defective, and somehow that forced the computer into a state where it had to shut down because the video card couldn't function properly and put out the amount of pixels it was supposed to.
How old is your video card? :p
Do you know how to run diagnostics on the card? If not I can walk you through it.

Very old and no lol.
Well that would be helpful, so thanks.
It also happens on my sisters computer, which has WC on it aswell lol.
is it a copy?
It must be a defective file or a defective piece of hardware, when a certain thing happens in the game, either graphically the card is incapable of doing something like pixel shading or advanced lighting the computer will shutdown and restart automatically due to defective drivers
update your drivers for the cards
I solved the problem. Don't play Warcraft III! xD.
Well if my sister's computer can handle WoW I don't see why it can't handle Warcraft III?
Or is there on aspect of the graphics that isn't required as much in WoW then WC3? O.o
And uhhh no it's not copy. Infact years ago when I used to play WC3 they were all burnt CD's or .iso files.
And now it's not, but this time it's screwing up ;(
Yes update my drivers..... *cough* How do you do that? ;P
you need to know the make of the card, and the model, and go to the manufacturers website and download them then install them
and WoW and WC3 are different kinds of games, running on very different engines, so it's not impossible to think that some kind of problem is coming from WC3 and not WoW
My cxomputer can rn Half Life 2 fine, but sometimes when playing an older game (RTCW specifically, both are FPS) if i set a graphical setting in RTCW my card doesn't support, poof, i try to play it, system can't load the data, and it shuts down to protect my computer
Alright thanks. I know how to get that information and already know some of that anyways.
Well my knowledge about computers, more importantly game/graphic (whatever ><) engines isn't too high lol. So yeah I just assumed stuff since WoW looks more pretty than WC3 ;P Haha.
I haven't really played WC3 much (partially because of the crashing problem yes, but still xD) anyways since I started playing WoW again anyways, but thanks.

Your computer is developing AI. It's realized that you are playing a game from the Warcraft series and decided to end it's life than to continue. It will only grow, and affect other Warcraft games and Microsoft programs.
Current solutions to this problem are:
1. Destroy all copies of Warcraft series on your computer and around the household.
2. Throw away any Microsoft created consoles and hardware.
3. Go watch more gay pr0n.
The above solutions were specifically designed and for use for the creator of this thread, and should not be attempted by any other unless they are -entirely sure- of what they are doing.

I know right, picture editors do wonders today.
Lol I didn't edit it. The only form of editing I did was cropping the screenshot lol.
I'm serious. Someone edited you're shout. Cause at first I saw "Auron" and I was about to go say something in response but then all of a sudden I saw it change to "I" lol, haha. There were a few mods and an admin on at that time if I remember correctly *coughAeyzeandVixcough*

Probably one of them.
My money is on Vix, if mods can edit shoutbox comments.
Trying to make people think I'm gay because she can't have me
LoL Ok,
1. I dont want you Manick xP
2. Im not joking about it
3. Please remember the topic is "Computer Crashing Problem" not "Manick is Gay" or "Who edited the shoutbox" (which I did do, lol, but we all know Manick isnt gay xP unless...his wife..is...a...man?)
4. So yeah, this is getting a bit spammy, so unless your helping fix the problem don't post
5. Yes, I know, Grae did not help the situation /slap

1. No comment.
2. No comment.
3. Manick's bisexual (sp?) obv.
4. Yes he did, he fixed MY situation =D Atleast I think so. I played Warcraft 3 for liek 30 minutes today and it didn't crash or anything. Usually it happens sooner than that, but it was worse on my sister's computer which I haven't tried yet but I think it's alright.
Obv. lock thread.
Sorry for double post but actually no.
I was playing WC3 again on my comp and it crashed.
The other time I was playing multiplayer over Bnet.
But this time I was just playing teh campaign so lol.
EDIT: Okay my computer turned off when I wasn't even playing WC3, not had I for the whole day. I did leave the computer on for several hours though since I went out and I left it to download some stuff but i've done that before and it hasn't crashed - Iono if this has anything to do wit hit crashing though.
Oh and it happened when I was testing it on my sister's comp. I was downloading the latest WC3 patch and when I pressed on the "Restart" button to Restart WC3 to load/install/whatever the new patch, it just crashed =/ So ehhh....
I'm guessing just don't play WC3 ><

A friend of mine had the same problem the disk turned out to be faulty. It could be the same with yours
first of all like otheres have said before update your graphics card it should fix the problem. if that doesn't work upgrade your hard drive its possible and cheap to buy the kit. or just dump everything off your comp (yes everything including windows) then reinstall all wanted programs and applications. easiest solution save up money and buy a new comp with the latest soft ware (or with windows xp). or defragment your compy some reason this works but i donts know why.
