A Little Bit of Star Wars

Does anybody else notice how Final Fantasy XII have a moderate amount of similarities to Star Wars? I mean, Balthier's like some sort of Han Solo and Fran's a womanized version of Chewbacca. Even Ashe has some similarities with Princess Leia. Judge Gabranth's like some sort of Darth Vader / Darth Maul fusion (with the heavy breathing and the suit of armor for Darth Vader and the double-edged blade for Darth Maul) What's more: the airship sky battle stuff and war... I guess that's what makes XII the awesome-est (is that even a word?) game ever.

Well it's not exactly uncommon for Final Fantasy to borrow things from popular cultures, including Star Wars. After all Biggs/Wedge, the Red Wings, and Nanaki (Red XIII), are all from Star Wars.

Anyway, with an oppressive empire storyline going on, it's not surprising to see similarities between one of the most famous oppressive empire storylines, Star Wars. Oh well.

yes there are similarities to star wars with this game, but i think you have the character assumptions slightly off, it would spoil the story for the others, but there is a controling figure over the main evil character,a princess rebelling against the empire that has a stangle hold over her nation etc, if anything vaan is more like chewbacca, cause he poses no purpose at all.

There are similarities between lots of different things. That and people will copy parts of things from one another. Or sometimes the general idea of something is common between certain things. But it doesn't really seem like FFXII purposely took things from Star Wars lol.
