Shoutbox disabled...

I've disabled the shoutbox until further notice. vbShout is using too many server resources which causes a high load due to the automatic refresh its doing. Today the script had 116355 hits, which is way too much. I already got 6 (automatic) warnings from my host. :(

I don't know if the shoutbox will return. I'll search for an other, less server intensive shoutbox. Hope there are any.

Shoutbox rulez, but yeah, shit happens.
We'll just have to do without Shoutbox for some while and start PMing.
Maybe a Bravenet Chatroom would do?

Haha yeah the shoutbox was pwnt.
Just go on HHN and when you've got nothing to post on you can use the shoutbox to say random crap and talk to the other people haha xP. Oh well lol. Guess we'll just have to live until (if) we get another, better one lol. By the way, what does it mean by hits exactly? As in how many people shout or what? Or is liek how many people visit the site which also affects the shoutox?

No, hits is how many times the page has been accessed. And it was just too many because of the automatic refreshing (using AJAX).

But I might have find an alternative shoutbox, a simple one though.

Is there a shoutbox which has a button which allows you to refresh? Instead of automatic refreshing.

I bet alot of them hits come from crawler bots, search spiders and other random crap. Aswell as guests and other people just afk.

Guests (and bots etc.) can't view the shoutbox...
