View Full Version : Virus Removers, Blockers, etc
Yeah my computer has been getting alot more crap recently and has probably been for awhile lol. I've really only got like one decent program which is only for spyware so if anyone could post up links (or names atleast so I can google them) for any virus, trojan, etc removers and blockers. Preferably free if you can ; ) I'm guessing the best way to remove all this crap (since I probably have craploads of viruses and god knows what on my comp lol) is just to reformat but atm I can't yet (gotta copy all my important crap to + actually get the XP cd =P lol). But yeah, anything would be helpful thanks ><
-Spybot Search & Destroy (get this. just get it, it's awesome, it finds spyware even my McAfee or other firewalls couldn't find)
-Lavasoft Ad-Aware
-Avast!
All free.
Hm, the best one that I've had (which ive been using the past few years now) is avast. Its completly free so thats quite handy. Give it a try :)
Alright thanks you two ^^
And damn that Spybot Search & Destory one is pretty good. Got a crap load of stuff I couldn't really get rid of with other programs i've tried (that were pretty crappy to begin with but anyways xP).

If you have a legal version of Windows XP you should also download Windows Defender. It's a good anti-spyware program that also scans in realtime.

Hm... I tried windows defender a while ago and I was quite disappointed with it.... it may have one or two 'novelty' features but IMO it still doesn't come close to spybot and avast :P
Yeah Spybot is pretty good. Never heard of Windows Defender though. I'm guessing I shouldn't bother with it? lol.

Well i am using Norton 2006 enterprise edition.
It works fine for me havent seen a virus in weeks so i guess it works.
Maybe i should install spybot search & destroy again and check.
It always happened to me in my Compaq PC (I switched to an ASUS notebook now because of it). Back then, when these things happened to me, I just saved all my files and programs in one or more rewritable CD(s). Then, I'd format my PC and start all over without the virus.
