Unfortunately Tsuji's no that quick ;) yet

When he does get good we're forming a band! A power metal band, we're gonna kick ass!

Also if you can play bass but not normal guitar you suck! :P No offense but bass is for dummies.

Chris
21-07-2005, 22:13
Thanks........

I'll remember that when I'm playing slap bass, using my fingers instead of a plectrum, and I bet NO guitarist has ever been told to keep his fingers away from people's daughters because I have :p

Wth. Bass ain't THAT easy. The fret's are bigger on bass so it takes longer fingers.

Plus if you heard me play my bass you wouldn't say I suck, everyone that's heard me play has said the total opposite.

Right you are, Im not that good yet XD And I cant play any form or shape of guitar so...that makes me a bigger dummie at it =P Since I know nothing of bass or guitar, I'll stay out of this one o=o

When you hit both the pedals you can make it sound like a machine gun... And it's just awesome.

Mine aint like a machine gun yet, mine is more like the Battle Rifle in Halo 2 Lol! XD Its not like a rattling gun just yet, gotta give me a bit more time =P

Tell me that when you hear me build up a floor-shaking wall of sound, then follow it up with some modified guitar solos on the bass, throw in a few effects, and THEN start slapping.

Plectrums are for pansies who don't like to get their fingers dirty.

24-07-2005, 13:02
the guitarist in Hender's and my band has a Warlock :) He just ordered a new Ibanez, but when it arrived he peeled the protective plastic off the scratchplate... and the paint peeled off! So he had to send it back... he not happy...

I've decided my next bass shalt be a 5 string Yamaha RBX775 :D or mebbes I'll save even longer and get the JM2... mmm 6 string bass...

He's quite good alright, but you have far more amazing drummers as far as I know, like David Mackintosh from DragonForce, wanna hear machine gun action? Try him out :p And I know you dont like Slipknot but, I have a video of Joey Jordison doing a drum solo, again machine gun action to the max =P If you want I can try to send you the video but I dont know where to upload it XD

there's one of joey jordison from slipknot, doing a drum solo, vertically...i'll try and find that.

but back on topic, i own an Ibanez Jem 555, an Ibanez RG 550, and a marshall stack, whcih took ages to save up for. something like 7 months wages, plus pocket money

I play the piano, I'm not as good as I used to be due to lack of practice but I can still belt out about 80% of Cannon. and I know the crocidile rock too. I can read music but I am really bad at it (That is to say I could sit and figure it out but I can't read it fast enought to play it, :P)

No no! Plectrums are for articulate and accurate players, the reason we don't slap our guitars is because if we did we wouldn't get a good sound out of themo. Bass is made easy because you can just slap it around and it'll sound good no matter what you do, I mean how easy is that! So primitive.

Chris
27-07-2005, 16:36
I'm just gonna shut up about this endless bass vs guitar argument because there will be no clear winner, and I'll just let people who've seen me play judge me on whether bass is an easy instrument to play or not.

Mebbes we can comprimise, and all agree that the Kazoo whups every single instrument in the world.

Brindley
27-07-2005, 16:38
I got bought one of those for my 17th birthday, I was dead chuffed! I broke it within the day though :(

You can always buy a kit which has a hi-hat, a 20" ride cymbal, one tomtom, a base drum(Ofcourse), a snare drum and one floor tom =P
But if you want a sort of a starter set, try going for a Forum FX, which looks like this:
http://messe.harmony-central.com/Musikmesse05/Content/Pearl/PR/FX25DHC_44_2-sm.jpg

That's the kind of set I got, only in dark green =p Mind you there is as 16" crash on that, and a starter FX set starts with a 14" hi hat and a 20" ride ussually, something like this:
http://www.instrumentpro.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/FX725HC.jpg

And the kind of brand is up to you :p I got a Pearl, but Yamaha and Pintech are also quite good =P (Yamaha is better than pintech though IMO) But its up to you on that one, yepperty yep =D

Chris
30-07-2005, 13:53
I was thinking more like Arbiter Flats, cause then we can have band pracs anywhere :)

And I've played on Pearl and Yamaha, both are great... the Pearl was better but that's cause it was a much better kit (Cost was... a lot)... the yamaha was good apart from the cymbals, they were pure shite.

I've heard about that actually, try to buy your cymbals from a good music shop or on the internet from the official sites and whatnot, thats what I do to get my cymbals and all that =P Paiste is what I ussually go for, the types I have currently are 302's, Brass 101's and thats it :p But yeah, try buy your cymbals seperately if you want good ones from your own choice like, thats what I do =P Reminds me to buy a Power Crash and a China cymbal sometime...o.o
But yeah, both Pearl and Yamaha are great =P Its good to start with the kind of drum I showed before because you can change it to your liking, such as cutting the base drum's skin to put in cloths and everything to make it more of a thumping sound instead of something like "bawwwmmm" (Because that is really what it sounds like when you don't fill it up :p)
But an Arbiter Flat looks really really neat, and handy thing is you can play it where you want, because its easily portable =P If you can afford one, deffinetly go for one, because its quite thesame as the kit I have, only then, FAR more easily portable n' stuff =P So if you can get one of those, it's all good :D

XD I never heard it mind you, all I know is that its meant to sound really loud and stuff =P I'll go for a power crash first though, because the sound on that is supposed to be short, like "PSSH!" and thats it =P No more like XD So I'd find that handy to have for sure =P China I'll get as well, but only after I listened to when you should use it as such n' stuff, ya know :p

Another drummer who I think is great is Dom Howard of Muse, not just for his drumming skill but also 'cause he's completely mental.

Didier Almouzni was the drummer for DragonForce in their early days of Valley of The Damned, you should listen to an MP3 sometime =P Dave Mackintosh is their current drummer, who done the drumming in their latest album Sonic Firestorm =P Go to their official site, as they have this player that plays the music for you without downloading it =P
I never listened to much Muse, I'll have a look around for that guy, see what he does :p

www.muse.mu will have it in their player, but the site's a bit gay so you'll have to go on Media or something like that in the gay menu and so on.

needless to say I also want a 1x15" cab for my amp... and more effects (and to those that have seen my effects, yes.. I want more)

Dale Anthony
31-07-2005, 12:57
You also want to invent the largest amp in the World so you can be heard playing in your house all the way down in Melbourne :D. Ain't that right Chris?

Thats not a bad idea actually Dale m'lad...

Try 250% Plus a Labour Markup. Most everything that is sold retail is sold at a 250% markup, so that 25¢ pack of gum you bought should cost 1.5 pennis, USD, because it costs about 1 penny to make. However gum is a food product, and many food products like that get a much steeper markup, take for instance your gum. it's at a 2500% Markup!!! And that bottle of cock? That ENTIRE BOTTLE, is worth about 5¢. You pay about a 2000% Markup, and if you're at an amusement park it's more arounf 6-7000%!!! Is that not outrageous? It seems like a good deal cuz a buck fifty isn't that much money, but when you think of the actuall worth of the product, even with labour and cost of production, it's sick how much the price of things is amped up.

..::AJ::..
01-08-2005, 11:26
well, i'm taking about guitars, and only guitars...but you're quite knowlegable.

Ah nice collection Bizzaro.

I guess I've got a Yamaha Guitar of some kind, another Guitar, kinda a Fender-Model. I usually play around with my Dad's acoustic alot. Erm...I've got a Bass, of some foreign unknown company, but it's left-handed (Cause I'm left-handed you see) so I'll let them off...and eh...a Yamaha Keyboard. Hoping to get a Left-Handed guitar for Christmas and quite possibly sometime in my life a Piano.

Sorry...lol. Actually Kazoo is...OH...nevermind ahem...

A Kazoo would be an interesting instrument for a three-piece band...i.e. Muse.

What's a 3 piece band?

Bizzaro
05-08-2005, 21:06
A band where the lead singer plays either guitar or bass.... then you have either a guitarist ir a bassist depending on the lead singer.... and a drummer!

Sixthcrusifix

I wan't a band with 2 guitars, a vioilin and 3 drummers

Chris

Sounds like Arcade Fire ... 2 guitarists, violin, 2 drummers, keyboard, bass...

Dale Anthony
06-08-2005, 16:04
Would be fascinating to smash together two of each. Two bassists, two violinists, two guitarists, two vocalists and two drummers. The noise...I don't really think anything with two bassists would work but then again, I've heard nothing with two bassists in it, so I could be wrong.

Well yeah I said i'm learning the guitar, been around 6 - 9 months I think and yeah still learning with a teacher and all =/ Though i'd like to also learn the Bass, Drums, Saxophone and Trumpet, cause like they're cool instruments, too. Especially the SAXAMAPHONE! xD.

Grace Saunders
17-09-2005, 11:11
Speaking of musical instruments, I wanted to learn how to play the keyboards like Mick Talbot, Ian Stanley, Nick Rhodes or Mike Lindup, but my damn advisor just gets sarcastic and mean and she tells me to get hunting for applications for jobs.

Sixthcrusifix
21-09-2005, 01:12
Well technically I play the piano but I'm seriously out of practice. And I don't actually know how to read music (I do know how but I can't do it and play cuz it takes me 3 years to send what I see to why my hands are doing, loll) SO all of the songs that I do know I've had to just learn by ear. I also labeled my keys with a permanent marker so I'd know which was A,B,C,D,E,F,G. I used to be so good I could hear a tone and tell you what note it was. I probably could still take a shot at that, but I let my nails grow out and it's really hard to play the piano that way.

IC an play:

Cannon (But not some of the cords)
Crocodile Rock
My Heart Goes Bang (DoA pop-rock song)
The "Halloween" theme.
The Death March
Greensleeves (I can actually play this song on a Guitar, Flute, Ocorina and Harpsicord)
Sweet Dreams are made of this (Manson version)

I like to play popular songs on piano (Sounds better with a keyboard)

Grace Saunders

rofl, that sounded so sarcastic (probably was). So true Chris, I mean what other way is there? Cause like the only way to like music is well... to actually listen to it... and i'm sure when you were a toddler you watched young childrens shows which had their fair share of songs, lol.

Davidonsnake
25-09-2005, 14:44
Well Dan I've been playing since May.Thats when I got it and I haven't got a tutor. My friend, who has been playing for two years is pretty good and told me not to get a tutor. He's taught me a couple of stuff...and he gave me a really cool Nirvana song book!

Just keep playing the stupid thing wrong and your head will get accustomed to noticing the right thing and it's just chemistry from there on.

Well, I play a lot of drums. In fact, I've been playing since I think... I was only seven. My brother, Darren, persisted that I played the drums, since he already played the guitar. Maybe it's because he wanted to form a band, something like that.

I play an instrument, drums =o My kit is a double base drum, 4 tom toms, 8 cymbals... I could go into the details but I can't be too bothered :P I'm in this school band thing but its sorta inactive now because of the final year studies D:

Details please!

I'm a huge drum fan!

Kit/sizes/cymbals etc?

Tsuji
03-04-2007, 23:00
Oh jeez okay XD *ahem*

It's a 8 piece drumkit, which goes as follows: 1 snare drum 14", Tom tom's are 10" > 12" > 13" > 14", Floor tom is 16", base drums are 22" in height/skin size.
Cymbals: 14" Hi Hat 302 Paiste(Hoping to get another hi hat hopefully, one on each side is good variation), 2x16" Crash Cymbal Paiste 302 and 101, 1x 12" Splash Paiste 101, 1x 18" Crash Paiste 101, and 1x 22" Ride Cymbal 302 Paiste, and finally, 1x 18" China Paiste PST3. My cymbals aren't too bad but I'm hoping to upgrade to 2002 and PST5.

The colour on my entire drumset is Wine red, basicly like this: http://www.woodbrass.com/images/woodbrass/PEX-805B-91-B.JPG
And the skins I'm using are Remo Weatherking Ambassador's, clear skins for the resonant side and coated ones for the batter side. That's about it :P

EDIT: Oh and the drumsticks, the types I use are Performance Percussion, Vater and Vic Firth. 7A is pwnage. =3

I've been playing drums since I was only nine because my brother was planning to form a band with me. My first song was "Fight for Ourselves" by Spandau Ballet. I really love the band and their drummer, John Keeble: he's awesome!

Well, now I only play songs from certain animes like "luvly,merry-go-round" or "Rewrite". My current favorite song to play is Dragon Blade by Kozo Nakamura.

I do what I call "crashing the piano". It means I am really good at it, but half the time I play stuff that's more to do with going awesomely nuts with rhythm and chords.

Grade 8, for those who do the AMEB programme. Electrics don't quite cut it for me, but I accept it cuz you can actually carry the things around.

WHAT SORT OF FOOL ATTEMPTS TO PUT A PIANO IN A CARRYCASE AND HAUL IT UP THE STEPS TO A CONCERT PERFORMANCE? XD QED.

I hate being a slave to sheet music though. :(

Haha.,I'll tell ya who! There's a guy at our local parish who's already having back problems because he'd always carry his gigantic piano (or is it an organ?? I'm confused) around.

mangusbrother

lolz i find that the best way to play the piano well is to continually practice. After a while, your hands will have minds of their own and you won't even have to think about playing them - your hands will magically find the notes!!! YA RLY!!!! ^_^

Instruments arent always about playing the fastses songs, the most difficult tunes, or doing the highest grade exams.

Instruments are about creating music, and enjoying it. You can play the most complicated piano song in the world, blindfold, with one hand tied behind your back, but if you dont enjoy doing it, the music will never truly be beautiful.

I on the other hand, back on topic play
Piano (keyboard): badly XD
Bass: badly :P

but i sing, and i sing different things, and i love it.....so technically i play my voice :O

I used to play the clarinet in band, but then it broke. That was for two years, I think. I then switched to French Horn for 4 or 5 years, but I quit because band was no longer enjoyable for me. Also, as a typical Asian, I used to play piano as well, but quit a while ago.

I now play drums, and I kind of picked up guitar. But I mainly play drums.

I used to play the piano, but I'm sorely tempted to go back to it (in keyboard form so I can play metal, not classical - I HATED classical, but it was all they'd let me play)
May dig out my old keyboard and selfteach at some point. I need to dig out some guitarpro tabs for sonata arctica... awesome keyboards there.

I have been trying to learn any instrument. I can't play drums, (I have Three bands I'm friends with and no one teaches me anything!) no one wants me to play base guitar. No one will teach me key board or pioano.
