I hope they aren't going to continue recycling the whole FFVII thing, it's really milking the cash cow completely, just for the sake of more publicity. I say let the game die, it has had its fame and time, let it die, and focus on making better games in the future. I'm sure they can do it, they made so many epic games before(Xenogears, FFIV >> FFX, Chrono Cross & Trigger, etc), I'm sure they can do it without the whole FFVII logo slapped on every game cover they make, featuring "zomfg cloud and sephiroth, for the 10th time guyz lols!!". Please, give us something new and refreshing. Let the damn game die already. >.>

As long as people buy it, they will keep making FF7 rehashes.
As much as I'm tired of seeing FFVII again and again (I liked the original, but seeing sequels/spin-offs about it everywhere now put me off it) I doubt they'll stop producing them as people love the stuff.
I agree with Tsuji, less rehashes, more new good games!
If they insist on rehashing stuff though, instead of another FFVII spin-off I'd love a remake of Xenogears disc 2! Or even an EU release of Chrono Cross, and let's say, Chrono Trigger for GBA.

For starters....FFVII is argued to be the best game ever to be released in the gaming industry so I absolutely doubt the fans will just let the game die. Second, no other game in history was able to sell as many copies as FFVII sold....only games coming close to it was Super Mario and Metal Gear Solid. Third, FFVII for most ppl was their first RP Game and anyone that has beaten the game I would say fell in love with the characters and the storyline.

You really cant name a game to me at this point in time that can inspire ppl this greatly compared to that of FFVII.

Oh yeh, the fans won't let the game die because the second they see the FFVII logo slapped on a game cover, they'll buy it, so, smart move on SE's part eh? :P XD Really though man, to the point, I just want to keep it clear to you that what I stated was my opinion on the matter, as I'm not going to elaborate why my opinion is the way it is. It's gonna stay like that. My view: FFVII is a good game, but mighty over-rated, and being recycled in as many profitable ways as possible.
I never doubted for a second it was one of the most bought games in gaming history, that's why it's so famous in the first place. And that's also in my view, why it's being rehashed in as many directions as possible, which is, not to sound like an annoying kinda guy of course, a seriously smart move by SE, because they KNOW the fans will buy it. The fans don't mind FFVII rehashes and neither does SE, so why not? Just that I won't be running after each FFVII product that SE makes, like most other more hard-core FFVII fans will. That's just my view.
I hope I was a bit more clear in making my statement this time :)

Actually, that is incorrect. :p

Final Fantasy VII is the second-best selling video game on just the Playstation console, coming right behind Gran Turismo which sold .2 million more copies. As for Metal Gear Solid, it only sold 6.6 million copies.

The accomplishment FF7 did have in sales, however, is they sold out of both of their initial shipments on the original day the game came out, forcing them to ship out another million copies before they wanted to. o.o;

Well I'f the fans get their way there will most likely bee a sequel to FFVII:AC, FFVII the origional will be re-made for the PS3...maybe even with online attributes...they may make a FFVVII game for the DS..possibly something to do with Chocobo's and the Gold Saucer...and many other ideas that I'm to lazy to think of right now! XD
As long as there are wallets willing to be opened they will keep making FFVII games~ there may even be a Dirge of Cerberus 2....AND perhaps we will get the elusive FFVII novel translated~

Oh and I also heard a rumour that FFVII will soon be release in a translated manga format~

So the selling-out of the FFVII plot will continue, however whether that is a good thing or not, I will leave THAT to your discretion and your opinion~

ah dont get me wrong, I have no intention of putting down your opinion. I accept the fact that ppl dont think that FFVII isnt that great and wont force my own views on others. However you cant ignore the poplace of ppl who adore the game. After all....this Forum seems to be centered around FFVII whether ppl know it or not. :)

Ah right, that's cool, I don't mind elaborating and discussing my opinion then with you so, I must have misunderstood your post then, my apologies on my part ^~^ Of course I cannot ignore people who adore the game to death literally, that's all cool. I agree that FFVII was definitely a good game, but I don't want to see it being expanded in so many ways is all. Thats why I won't be buying, let's say FFVII Crisis Core or Dirge of Cerberus, it's just enough for me, you know? xD

i think the problem is the squenix is taking advantage of the fan's love for FFVII and milking every dollar out of it. i think the game appearance would be much better if sqeunix just stopped now and made a full-fledged remake in a couple years, but i doubt that'll be good enough for them. plus, i'd much rather play a new enviroment/plot.

They will continue making Final Fantasy VII games for another 10 years. If I find the interview that was mentioned in again I will post it. There's a chance it was just a misunderstanding but the fact is that the brand sells. And its very very easy to recycle the same stuff over and over. The money it saves on development is huge and SE are making more and more compilations. Three new KH games announced at TGS, FNC, the continued compilation of FFVII (there will be a remake at LEAST and more likely alot more), and the Ivalice Alliance.

And keep an eye out for episodic content. Valve have really caught everyone's attention on that front with Half Life and SE know we'll all go out and buy it. I don't THINK they'll go that far but I wouldn't rule it out.

Final Fantasy VII has literally become a Trade Label...
Stick the workds "Final Fantasy VII" and add afew character images on a product and it will sell sell sell....
It's starting to appear that Final Fantasy VII is similar to Brand names such a Gucci and Dior....Stick Gucci on a pair of shoes, you'll make money....stick Final Fantasy VII on a pair of shoes...they'd still sell for probably just as much.

Like Luke said....they will be making them for a good 10 years still...and whether they'll be good or not won't matter....they'll still sell.........

Square have actually confirmed that the compilation of FF VII will run for another ten years. So I doubt it's over now, but as for games they could release, they have to make another sequel, due to Genesis coming back.

as for other games, I wouldn't mind a game showing the early years of AVALANCHE, before Barret joined.

I have to admit, FFVII is getting old, but I'm an active reader, and I always like to see/play/read another chunk of a story, I can't help it, it's like a habit. I HAVE to see what happens...or else I'll go crazy making up my own endings......why yes, I am crazy, thank you for asking. :P
