After quitting Guild Wars (the game was great, but over time is just got boring really. The only reason I continued to stay after the first two campaigns was because of GVG/PVP) and returning to WoW (having not played it for over a year), I decided to check up on how GW was doing (on the site and some popular fansite forums) as my guild was thinking about returning to GW (some were still playing it) and getting our guild back up for some GVG's.

Anyways when I read about the upcoming campaign and more importantly Guild Wars 2, I was liek wtf awesome xD. Eye of the North, which is the next campaign (it's an expansion rather than a stand-alone game and you can have any one of the 3 campaigns to play) is going to link the current Guild Wars storyline to Guild Wars 2 which will be around 100 years into the future and there will be several playable races (including Charr! =O) besides human, so far four have already been named. Some aspects of a normal MMORPG will be implemented into Guild Wars such as the existance of a Z-axis. Meaning you'll be able to jump over objects and the such. Oh and swimming =P

Oh and the next campaign, Eye of the North takes you to the far north of the Northern Shiverpeaks (the Far Shiverpeaks) where you have to aid the dwarves whom dwell within the Depths of Tyria against a "fiery destroyer" (a network of caves that run under and between the three continents of the world of Tyria). You'll also get to see the Charr's homeland and you'll see two other playable races for GW2 in the game (but you'll be helping them). The end boss is some guy called the Great Destoryer. Oh yes very scary ; )

As for GW2, the level 20 cap is going to be raised. But it could be 100 or infinity. Nothing has been confirmed at this point.
The exact implementation has not been finalized, and possibilities include: (1) that each level will take approximately one fifth of the time it takes to go up a Guild Wars 1 level, (2) higher levels do not affect health/attribute points, and only give an extra skill point each (meaning the difference is purely cosmetic), or (3) if development curve does continue, the power curve will be flattened, with diminishing returns for higher levels (as stated in a recent interview). Either way, ANet seems intent to stay close to its philosophy of keeping players on a levelled playing field (or approximately so).

The professions are being designed so that they are all viable for both solo and group play.
Another difference is that there's gonna be servers/worlds not instead of what it was like before, but you can transfer between them I believe?

Also the armour isn't going to be as restricted for an armor set per class only. I'm assuming special armour sets (much like many other MMORPG's however) will be avaliable only to certain class, but in general you can wear any piece of armour =/
The aspect that appeal to me most however is the introduction of World PVP. Rather than the "Structured PVP" (which they will continue to have in GW2) they will also have World PVP much liek WoW and such, but I do believe it's instanced and has it's differences.

Yeah sounds great so far. But it'll be awhile before release for GW2. Beta is out next mid-year and there's a probable release date for 2009-2010. But as for the exansion, it's coming out late this year I think lol. Damn this a long post XD.

You read all that?
Hell even after posting that I was like "Wtf long post" xD.
But anyways, yeah GW2 definitely sounds alot better than the current GW.
To be honest the PVE aspect of original GW gets a little boring once you hit Nightfall.
But i'll pick up the next campaign when it comes out, mainly for the story and my hope that it'll be different xD.
