When I came home this evening and I was watching the news I heard there's been a massive killing on a school in the US....

Some crazy guy killed 32 people and injured 29 people and then committed suicide at a dorm and a classroom building at Virginia Tech. This is the worst school attack in US history. President Bush said the nation was "shocked and saddened" by news of the tragedy.

Can't believe that some crazy guy can easily get a weapon...

Heh I saw this thread on another forum I go to liek yesterday.
Seriously that's some messed up sh*t. The shooter kills around 30 people then turns the gun on himself.
And yeah it's really not that hard (well if you tried a little and knew how) to get a weapon =/
I'm just wondering what were the shooter's motives. I guess he was just insane or something.

Oh wow X_X Geez, wouldn't you have to be so mentally scarred/retarded to do that sorta shit? I mean, why the hell would you even do any of that? He had to be mentally-not-well in the head.

Also I found out that the shooter was Asian (not that it means anything, just saying xP) and the reason was that he found out his girlfriend was cheating on me so yeah, he kinda went crazy there. But why would he need to kill other people aswell? =/

It's a sad thing to see on the news, bad enough each day seeing that our soldiers and servicemen and women are being killed in iraq and afghanistan but its even worse to hear of some idiot slaughtering innocent kids like that... It shows unfortunatly what a sad state this world is in now :(

EDIT - oh yeah I would also like to quote the Ctrl+Alt+Del newspost

"My thoughts are with the friends and families of the people killed in at Virginia Tech today.

I am aware that Jack Thompson is currently on the news blaming the whole thing on video games. The man is reprehensible. And that's all I'm going to say on the subject."

'nuff said really...

This is truely a sad thing.

It's a shame it is so easy for people to get guns in America, if it weren't some things like this may never have happened. Oh well my heart goes out for the families of those who died in this.

Guns...*sigh* I hate to admit it but at my house I have a few that my dad has stashed away...

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone that has been effected by this tragedy.

The shooter was a 23 years old South-Korean and he complained about rich children, debauchery and deceitful charlatans on the campus. Lately he was acting violent and erratic.

Shouldn't that have been an obvious warning sign? It's just like Columbine, where no one noticed said warnings.

I also read something about he was taking some meds and went for some therapy but for what and the outcome is unknown.

Lol, I'll laugh as well when some controversial musician gets blamed, too. Marilyn Manson got blamed for Columbine, though the kinds HATED his music. Wonder who's gonna get blamed this time. Maybe Slayer because of their new Christ Illusion? :P

Yeah I saw that on the news today. He was also a loner and was suggested to take therapy, not sure if he actually went though. But yeah, he left a note or something about how he hated (not sure if he hated, I forget) rich kids and some other people on the campus. The girlfriend thing was off another forum but I wasn't too sure if it was correct.

The thing i'm wonder is, why wasn't he taken down after the first shooting? And the fact that the second shooting was allowed to happen since there were two hours in between them.

Meh I reckon video games will be blamed. CS anyone? =/

Looks like Jack Thompson has found another staple for his cause. It's typical that the sad wee man is grasping onto this tragedy and trying to use it for his own cause, he should be ashamed.

Oh and the guy had 2 guns, apparantly, where does someone get 2 guns, really now.

Auron-X
18-04-2007, 12:04
He only use one I believe in the first shooting but in the second he used both. Apparently they found out where he bought them from and when. One he bought in February and another in March but from different shops, I think. It really isn't TOO hard to get guns in the States, legally or illegally O.o

What's wrong with people nowadays? As the years go by things like this become more common and frequent, it's sickening. I don't know what the hell was wrong with that guy to do something horrible like this, I can't imagine how painful it must be for the families of the victims...
Things like this make me not like the fact that everyone can have a gun in the states, there will always be sickos like this, and it's always these people that strike the ones without the ability to fight back, it's disgusting.

Jack Thompson has lost virtually all credability now. I hear he's even been stripped of his law-making abilities because of everything. All the stuff he caused over teh game Bully was ridiculous. Bet that game is gonna get the heat from this whole incident...

"Students at the university's online newspaper, planetblacksburg.com, today discovered a message on a website that seemed to announce the massacre.

Posted early yesterday morning on 4chan, a website that allows anonymous postings, the message warned: "hey /b/ I'm going to kill people at vtech today in the name of anonymous.""

/b/ is the name of their random board. It could easily be a coindence but come on, that's pretty freaky. The fact that if the shooter went to that site, that would also explain alot o_o Oh and I found out that apparently people in his dorm said he had an imaginary girlfriend lol (prob not true, but that guy was pretty disturbed and had some mental issues).

The police thought it was someone else that killed the first 2 people. But it wasn't.

Today I saw that the shooter mailed a package to NBC News with photographs and videos with himself after he killed the first 2 people. And he's really talking shit...

lol lol lol all you need is your parents there (like this kid ) and you can purchase pretty much anything in some states.plus he wasn't crazy he idolized erick harris and a vincent klebold two students at columbine highschool he even called them marytrs he also dressed like the popular trench coat mafia which again erick and vincent did.now lets all be lucky that he did not know how to build bombs like the two did.plus the video games lawyer asshole prick is wrong first of all video games do not have enough contact on how to in fact use a gun properly and aim accurately (especially gta 3). plus if this kid was bullied by students the anger and retribution or revenge mindset takes over and some thoughts were probably kill all those mother ****ers there shit anyways they diserve to die or something like that.

I am a regular surfer of 4chan and specifically, /a/, /b/, /h/, /s/, /gif/, /co/ and /mu/

and thats no coincidence
Someone posted that
for a joke

/b/ makes fun of anything

lol I never said it WAS him, just a possiblity =P And also some mod made up this other thead (e.g. change the time and everything) with some crap on it about the V-Tech shooting (just look for a thread called Virigina something, but prob not there anymore). I forget what, but there was a link to it on this other forum I go to where lots of members there go to 4chan >_<

There was also this photoshopped image too. Liek with this (the original msg) "hey /b/ I'm going to kill people at vtech today in the name of anonymous." Because I think the post got deleted pretty quickly afterwards or it wasn't even real =/

lol some of the 4chan memes are funny. I've only seen them cause there's a thread in this other forum I go to in their spam board where you can post epic wins ;o

Yesterday, apparently, there was also a hostage situation at the Johnson Space Center her in the USA as well, where a guy took two people hostage, shot one of them and killed himself. Now that this happened less than a week after VT, I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty more to come...

Yeah I heard about that, not as fatal as this however.
Heh and on 4chan, someone posted some crap how he's gonna kill 100\0 people in Arizona State in the name of /b/. lol obviously it's a joke because 1) it's the internet 2) it's 4chan 3) it's the /b/ board 4) 100 people? That's alot so I doubt it lol. I've also heard about people getting arrest because they've threatened other people (most were probably just joking or trying to get a laugh or something) about killing them at their school or whatever.

Actually, they did. I read in the news that the second round of shootings took place in 9 minutes. Took them 5 miutes to get on campus and 4 minutes to break through the chains on the doors, which obviously shows that the school was indeed closed during the whole incident.

those chians where placed on the doors of the building where the second series of shootings happened, and were placed there by the gunner.

two first two casualties were 2 hours before....

I knew about the other two shootings prior, I've been following this case very closely since I got home last monday. Didn't know that about the fact that HE put the chains on. Can't exactly see how he could put them on, cuz it sounds like they were on the outside :S

the school was set on lock down after he killed some people in the coed dorms.and was also closed to keep off campus students away.so they did close the school quickly and teachers did try to save there students as well such as the holocaust survivor and the other lady.

I remember when this event occurred. I was sitting in the library surfing the web when I encountered a website that said a school shooting occurred at Virginia Tech. Events like those really make you wonder about your safety in a place that should be your haven.

Yeah, my first thought about what would happen in the aftermath of the shooting was that Jack Thompson would have a field day with this incident. That guy, I swear...

"He had a copy of Lemmings sitting in his car! Videogames are a bad influence, and they caused this massacre!"

Very interesting thought here, and the possibility may even be higher due to the lack of friends, asian descent and interest in dark things (in other words, would show his possible interest in the material):

If any of you has read Deathnote, you should know that the "second Kira" had an idea to send her messages via videos to a TV broadcast station, notably during her killings. The VT killer did the same thing, sending videos of himself out to a TV station (and only one too, that in the end publicly showed the material the most, just like in Deathnote) in the middle of his killing spree.

Now, I could always just be looking too deeply into this, but it's an interesting thought, isn't it?

I doubt the two are related, though I bet a lot of people, if they see that similarity, will blame it on anime (just like they blame video games for violence). Not a very good publicity... ._.
I don't think they are related, Cho was just seriously screwed up in the head.
It's kind of scary that people with these disturbed minds walk among us.

I think that theory/idea has very little to do with how this person thought, if you ask me. He was either too mentally scarred or ill to think like he did, and I doubt that this guy was watching too much Death Note or something, highly doubt those two comparisons are related.
Just like Mirae said really :P
