After the Civil War, the Superhuman Registration Act came into full power. Suddenly, superhuman vigilantes were outlawed on pain of permanent depowering and imprisonment. But all was not lost - the US government created the '50 States Initiative'. Under the guidance of the Avengers and Henry Gyrich, the newly appointed Secretary of the Superhuman Armed Forces, boot camps were created across America to train superhumans in the use of their powers, with the eventual aim of placing a superhero team in every state. This game will follow the trials of one such group going through an Initiative camp in Illinois. Will they graduate, and become a superhero team worthy of defending the entire state of Illinois? Or will they wash out, and be sent home in disgrace, their powers stripped from them?

-------------------------

Game's nice and easy. Same rules apply as every other RP, with a few things to note:

Firstly, this game is set in the Marvel Universe. While using established archetypes is fine (tsuji is being a character based ever so slightly on Thor, for example), using established characters or carbon-copies of them is NOT. Keep power sets reasonable - no super-strong, completely invulnerable, psychically-inert people who can fire beams that will cut through adamantium from their crotch, OK? ;) And I want to see a half-decent reason for why you have the powers that you do (mutation's fine - while there are 198 KNOWN mutants left after Decimation, it's a canon fact that there are quite a few out there who aren't known. Just so long as everyone in this game isn't a mutant :P)

Lilium clutched her bacg tight, as it held all of her worldy posessions. Her underwear, spare clothes, what little money she had left, her diary and afew light snacks. She began to fiddle nervously with the necklace that hang low on her neck.
"Come on come on...." She began to jog up and down, her breath becoming misty in the cold air.
"It's FREEZING out here...amn why did I wear a skrit?...Gah you're so stupid...."
At that moment two lone headlights appeared just past the Cafe where Lilium worked, and a small bus pulled up where she stood.
"About time" she muttered to herself as the doors creaked open.
"Lilium Thorne" she snapped as she strolled past the driver, who nodded as she passed. She took her seat at the far back end of the bus ignoring anyone else who may be around. She took out her diary and began to write.

Not much longer after Lilium entered the bus, another female figure entered into the bus. She was wearing a training uniform, one she weekly wore when going to her gym classes, with a relatively large backpack onto her shoulders, containing all of her personal belongings, clothes, books, etc. She introduced herself to the designated bus driver, while handing over the money for the ride. "Gina Adams." She spoke with a rather straightforward and neutral tone. She carefully observed the other people who were already in the bus earlier than herself. "They don't really look like nice people...", she thought.
But, she came to a halt when she saw a girl in the back, wearing black, gothic clothing. She appeared to be writing in some sort of book, possibly a diary. The neutral expression on Gina's face softened to a more normal, open look, as she proceeded to the back of the bus to sit beside the girl.
As she approached the girl, she posed her a question.
"Hello. Would this seat be taken?" She pointed to the seat beside Lilium. "Would you mind if I sat beside you?" Her voice carried a genuine tone.

Lilium, without tilting her head, looked up rather shocked at the girls standing before her. She glanced at the spot the girl was pointing at and through a mouthfull of pens said
"umr...smur...whaevmur"......
Lilium closed up her diary not wanting the pictures or writings to be seen by anyone, and threw the res of her pens in her bag along with the book.
Nervously she sat, avoiding eye contact, she stared out of the small misty window at the now barren scenery. They were out of the city now, and she wondered where exactly this place was.

As the coach continued down the road, it pulled up alongside a military APC parked at the side of the road. The driver climbed out, and could be seen through the windows opening the luggage compartment. Four soldiers staggered out of the APC carrying a long wooden case, wrapped in heavy chains and locked steel bands, and manhandled it into the compartment. One of them quickly walked back and then returned with a large suitcase, which he threw into the compartment before slamming the door down. The driver quickly climbed back onto the bus, and started the engine again.

Gina did little effort to start a conversation with the girl beside her during the ride to the camp, as she was personally wondering about what was going to happen in the camp, how she was going to have her powers to be tested. She also paid little attention to what the bus driver and the military APC were rummaging at in the luggage department.
Finally, after they started moving again, she decided to try and open a conversation with the person beside her.
"Sorry there...since we will both be in this military-thing or whatever, I was wondering, what is your name if I may inquire? My name is Gina, Gina Adams." she said with a smile.

Lilium stared out of the window at the soldiers rummaging outside the bus, curious at to what was in the box and lost in her thoughs she almost didn't hear the question posed by the girl sat next to her.
She turned slowly and sat back, not looking at this "Gina" she spoke in a emotionless tone "Gina huh?....well What do you think is in that then?"

She sat on one of the seats, motionless, eyes half-closed in a detached slumber. The large iron trunk sat next to her on a slant (upright, it would have hardly gotten through the door). Her mind was wandering somewhere else, although it was unfathomable where.

Kaleida Constantine was not one to talk easily, but when she felt like it, she could. She'd always wanted to make many more friends within the United States, and occasionally when she delved into her own mind (rather than other's minds), she realised that the loneliness was getting to her.
She listened to the various conversations, logged them into her head, and remembered names, and contemplated the sketchy details that she'd been given on the Initiative. Perhaps she'd get to know some people. Kaleida, despite being a cold monster-killing drug-pumped woman, wasn't thinking of dying that way.

After another half-hour, the bus pulled up outside a small fenced compound - barely ten metres across. The driver turned and said 'Get your kit and get off. This is it.'

From the small hut in the compound emerged a half-dozen men, three dressed as soldiers, the others in superhero costumes. They watched the recruits move around on the bus with obvious disdain.
'Another batch of kids we're supposed to turn into soldiers?' one of the supers sneered.

"What is what..." Gina responded to Lilium, while moving herself to take a look out the window. She stared at the object which she later identified as a coffin.
"...What was a coffin doing on board of the bus?"
Not later, the bus arrived with a screeching halt at its final destination at last, the Illinois Initiative Camp. People started to collect their bags to get off of the bus. Gina did the same, as she reached for her backpack on the rack, and shuffled in line to get out of the bus.
As she stepped out, she could feel the cold air on her cheeks again as her cheeks flushed. People stood unorganized outside of the bus, some chatting to others, some not. But she couldn't help but notice the other men who emerged from within the compound, but decided to ignore them for now. She started to jog up and down to warm herself up, but stopped when she saw Lilium get out of the bus, soon after her.
She approached Lilium once more, inquiring her name. "So, I didn't catch your name by the way, what is your name?"

Lilium emerged off the bus clutching her bag tightly, she wandered to one side, making sure she avoided the crowd, and ignoring Gina as she questioned her. She didn't really ~do~ talking to people all that well. As she passed the luggage compartment she glanced across ans the large chained container was heaved off and dumped on the ground. She walked up to where it lay and stared trying to figure out what its contents were. Unknowinly to her she began to fiddle with the pendant that is always around her neck, as she was enticed by the box. She soon became aware of what she was doing and feeling slightly embarassed stoped suddenly. She was then aware of the six men standing in wait for the bus and its travellers.

One of the soldiers suddenly stepped forwards. 'Initiative cadets.. TEEEEEN-HUT!'
He watched their attempts to stand in line with an amused sneer, before speaking again.

'Do you know why you're here? You're here because a disaster caused by untrained fools resulted in the death of over 600 men, women and children, and we have been tasked by the President and the Avengers to stop this from ever happening again. You all come from different backgrounds, have different powers, and different levels of training. We're here to turn you all into just one thing - superheroes that America can be proud of! And to do that, we have to turn you into soldiers first!'

He stopped to look at the cadets again, then did a double-take.
'Wait... there are supposed to be only three of you!'
The other two soldiers immediately shouldered their rifles and aimed at the fourth in the line - a young, well-dressed man who yawned and stretched languidly.

'Identify yourself!' one of the two soldiers barked.
'I hope you don't mind - it was getting cramped in the box.' replied the stranger, with an insolent smirk.

Lilium was standing a little away from the rest of the line, but still roughly in line. She couldn't help but stare at the strange man that had emerged from the box.
"Who was he? Why was he in a box?" she thought to herself as her grip losened on her back. She didn't pay much attention to the soldiers and their rifles, due to the fact that she was enticed by this guy.

The soldier who had been drilling the cadets walked over and looked at the box, which was still chained and sealed. He produced a large key and began to unlock the chains.
'What do you mean, 'in the box'? Identify yourself!' another of the soldiers barked.

The stranger immediately straightened, standing perfectly to attention.
'Cadet LaMorte reporting for duty, SAH!' he snapped, producing a perfect salute. The soldier who was opening the box lifted the lid off, and nodded to the three superheroes.

One of the supers stepped forwards, looking LaMorte up and down. 'Cadet LaMorte. My name is Skyshatter. Pull a stunt like that again, and not only will I wash you out of this program, I will also personally kick your ass from one side of Illinois to the other before seeing you depowered. Understand?'

He then turned to the others.
'We will begin with the greatest defence any of you have against the world. You will all be issued with a mask when you draw uniform. Anybody caught demonstrating powers off-site without their mask - instant washout. ON-site, you use your codename. You only EVER use your real name off-site, unmasked. Your Uncle Sam does not have the resources to defend each and every one of your grannies from the likes of Dr Doom, so the only way you're going to keep them safe is to keep your damned mouths shut.'

Kaleida stood at attention, mildly enjoying the light verbal abuse the drill instructor was hurling at them. However, she was getting a little bored with the precedings, although the arrival of the man who called himself "LaMorte" was interesting.

She could see, from the various experiences she'd had in the past thirty to forty years, that the man was clearly not as human as the rest, in the biological sense. She didn't like the look of him one bit, but she decided just to watch him, rather than pull out a gun and try and blow his head off.

This mask business was strange. Proper, but strange. She saw the sense in it, but the throught had never occurred to her before. She mentally shrugged and continued to stand at attention, simply staring straight ahead like she always did whenever she let half her brain wander off somewhere.

[Outside a Bus Station Some Where in Illinois]

A small spatial collapse begins to form just south of the bus station as near by trash and debris begins to levitate and burn. A black bolt of lighting cracks from this depression opening a spiraling temporal portal. A dark boot emerges from the spiraling and for the first time sets foot on 21st century soil. A body slowly emerges as a finely carved walking stick followed by another boot emerges from the spiraling vortex. The hooded figure stands there as a crowd of people simply stare at him. Illinois was filled with strange things here lately so when this cloaked figure didn’t attack they simply go about their business. Reno shakes his head as he waves his hand closing the temporal gate behind him. Reno slowly begins to move wading amongst the people going into the station. He looks around and spots an man dressed in military garb. He casually walks toward the guard his walking stick making a soft tap with every other step. “Excuse me Sir, would this be where I sign up for the Initiative?” The guard turns to the cloaked stranger and looks over the man before answering. “Yes this is where you sign up. Please make your way though the door behind me and start the registration process.”

Reno walks passes the guard and enters the room there he is met by several more MPs stationed at different booths. First up was finger printing and other information like name, age, etc. 20 minutes slowly passed as Reno slowly completed the registration process. The last table was held by a female MP who asked him to sit. “Okay Sir your registration is almost complete all I need is a few more details and you’ll be ready to head to our training facility. Firstly it says here you have a tattoo, may I see it so we may log it into the system.” Reno complies by parting his cloak and pulls down the neckline of his shirt revealing the snake tattoo on his chest. With a flash the MP takes a picture and uploads it to her data on him. “Okay Sir one final thing do you want to give yourself a code name or have one assigned?” Reno softly utters “Serpentarius” the smile slightly falls from the MP “Umm, I hate to ask this but could you spell that?” “Yes, s-e-r-p-e-n-t-a-r-i-u-s” “Thank you Sir” the MP replies with a smile and soon she is typing away. A few minutes later she prints some papers out and ask Reno to sign them. “Okay Sir, your information has been forwarded. Please make you exit and ask the guard on how to get to the transport.” Reno exit’s the room and the guard points toward a door, “It leaves in about 5 minutes please board quickly.” Reno slightly bows as he make his way toward the door. He exits it and sees the vehicle that will transport him to his destiny. He climbs aboard and is asked to take his seat. Soon the vehicle rumbles to life and departs the station.

Lilium didn't really enjoy being told what to do, and so didn't really stand to attention. She watched as the others stood straight and was amused but this "LaMorte" character. Watching him respond made her smile a little.
One of the soldiers walked up to her, obviously he had taken notice of her lack of attention and obedience. Lilium just continued to stare at LaMorte, smiling only a little.
"Stand to Attention!" the soldier yelled at Lilium, who jumped a lottle and then became aware of what she had been doing. Ebarassed and annoyed at herself she shuffled a little to make herstelf stand straighter, and kept her eyes cast downwards.
"Sorry" She mumbled, knowing that she really wasnt on the soldiers good sides right now.

*on a dusty road near the bootcamp*

"Yes mother... I'll be sure to let you know... Yes... Uh-huh...yeah but I gotta g.... No.... Mother?!... No... Yes... The best... I'm sure you can both manage without me for a while... No... Ye... Look itll just be like when I was in the gulf.... yes a top position.... Said I could be a Major... Yes Mother, I know.... Look I gotta go I'm almost the...... YES MOTHER.... Ok... Tell dad I say hi..." And on that note, Euphilius snapped his cell phone shut.

"...stupid bitch" He muttered to himself... He glanced over at the hulking mass of human flesh opposite him, one of the bodyguards his father had entrusted to protect his 'precious' son. The bodyguard was sat at the opposite end of the limo, "Hey buddy... shift it I can't see the tv" Euphilius insolently yelled irritated that the mountains head was blocking the tv. He reached for the remote...

"*intro theme* The time is 9am, time for the morning news" The camera revealed a young however disheveled looking woman. She ruffled her papers and began to speak,

"Good morning and welcome. Oil prices continue to sore in the middle east after oil wells were set alight two weeks ago by terro.... *Euphilius changes channel*...ggHZGhgg....

"Hey Kids... ggHZGhgg...."

"How...ggHZGhgg..."

Euphilius threw the remote out of the window in contempt "...just ****ing great... My dad runs half this damn country, the greatest country in the world and I can't even get cable in my limo....."

The mountain appeared disgruntled, peering out of the limos blackened windows, "Looks like we're here sir" a smile breaking across his face, possibly from the relief he didn't have to spend any more time with Euphilius... His father was a good man, but his Euphilius? He was an arrogant little pimple on the ass of society as far as the mountain was concerned.

"Thank christ..." Euphilius yelled in a childish tone, "I couldn't stand another second in the god damn heap of junk" he followed up making no attempt to hide his resentment and contempt.

The limo slowed to a stop and the driver got out of the vehicle and held the back door open standing beside it at attention. The mountain got out first, checking the coast was clear and proceeded to remove luggage from the boot as Euphilius stepped out into the blistering Illinois sun. The Boot camp stood about 30 metres away, looking as imposing as it was possible for a complex to look. "Well this is where my story of adventure and glory begi..... HEY CAREFUL WITH THOSE!!!" he screamed at the mountain who was roughly throwing Euphilius' luggage out of the boot and into the dirt, "You're forgetting I've been offered an Officers position and I'll be making your yearly salary in a week so you better learn some respect!"

'Right, maggots. You're mine now!' shouted the third soldier. 'All without their own costume, follow Corporal Harris to stores, where you will draw Initiative uniform! Pants, fatigue, two pairs of! Shirt, logo, five! Boots, infantry, one pair of! Socks, five pairs of! Gloves, palm, one pair of! Finally, mask, one! Corporal Harris will then lead you to barracks section, where you will deposit all but one set of your uniform, and change. You will then join us at the combat simulator. We're going to put you through your paces, show you what you might be up against.
'Those of you who already own a costume, Sergeant Lenton and I shall escort you directly to barracks section, where you will change into it. We will then head directly to the combat simulator. You will draw training uniform tomorrow!
Cadets... fall in!'

He turned, then produced a radio set from his belt. 'Sergeant Varnes requesting access.'
Smiling over his shoulder at the cadets behind him, he winked and said 'You'll be impressed when you see this, my lads and lasses.'

A heatwave shimmer ran up through the air from the ground, and suddenly where nothing but miles of fields had lain stood a massive military compound. From their position just within the main gates, the cadets could see an assault course, several large barracks buildings, a gymnasium and many other structures, all surrounded by two layers of chainlink and barbed wire fence.

'Did I not say so?' Varnes grinned. 'Right, my maggots. MARCH!'
He proceeded further into the compound.

The coach rumbled down the road, Reno like always was lost deep in thought. Soon he would be joining an elite crew of individuals that will be tasked to protect the citizens of Illinois and eventually the world. But that will only last a few decades because a hero that was either already a part of the camp or joins the camp soon will throw an insurrection that will reverberate through the annals of history and result in many tragedies and loss of life. Reno slightly sighs, the texts that speak of this time is sketchy at best because of the mass destruction of the histories in the 2700’s. Only a few scripts survived of this turbulent time in the U.S. and they were almost damaged beyond reading. Reno’s attention snaps forward when the driver announces that they will be arriving at their destination shortly. Reno shifts in his seat as he readies himself for the road in front of him. The bus slows to a gentle stop as the double door is opened by the driver. “Okay Sir, please make your exit.” Reno stands as he snaps his walking stick under his arm as he walks to the front of the bus. With a bow of thanks to the driver Reno turns and walks down the stairs un-wedging his walking stick as he steps off the bus. With a tap of the wood Reno rounds the front of the bus and is confronted by the fence of the Military base. To his right a limo sets as a mountain of a man seemed to be handling some ones luggage rather poorly, the young man they seem to belong to looked outraged to say the least.

Reno reaches into his cloak and pulls out what appears to be a few pages of a book of some sort. A few moments pass as he shuffles though the ancient looking pages. With a shrug Reno says “Not the person I’m looking for….” Reno puts the text back into his cloak and walks forward. Passing the gate into the base Reno is only able to make a few steps before he is completely surrounded by armed Military Police their light machineguns shouldered and ready to fire. The ranking MP carefully walks forward as Reno raises his arms and speaks, weapon still in the ready position. “Who are you? We were only expecting a few recruits to arrive today, what is your business here?!” the guard angrily ask.

Lillium sighed as she followed the seoldiers into the facility, she'd never really used her powers before "This is going to be embarassing and tough" she thought to herself. "How the hell am I supposed to use my powers without oh I dunno....accidently killing someone....I can't...well then I won't" she continued to think.

Silently she stumbled along, she stopped ash she passed Gina, "Lilium...My name" she spoke clearly but quietly. She walked on trying to stay near this "LaMorte" wanting to try and figure him out, but not getting too close so that he would notice her.

Gina herself stood to attention and in line when she was prompted by one of the soldiers. She remained perfectly still, listening to what they had to say. When the third soldier shouted out the commands for the Initiative Uniforms, she knew she was one of the people to go and collect, so she followed Corporal Harris to the stores. As she did so, Lilium passed her name to her. She said quietly, with a smile on her face, "Pleased to meet you."
Once she entered the store, she decided to cut to the chase, and collect her uniforms as discretely as possible.
"Let's see, two pairs of pants...Infantry Boots, one pair..."
She thought out loud as she was collecting the items required for training.
"Shirt with logo, and socks, five...and one mask!" She said finally, after having collected all of the items. She placed them into her bag, and without bothering anyone else, walked out of the store.* She stood firm, awaiting the Corporal's orders once everyone else had finished their shopping for the uniforms.

Lilium gathered up the Uniform she needed from the store, like Gina did. She didn't have any money or her won costume, however she hoped her uniform was black. Lilium loved wearing black. She was silent whilst collecting her clothes, and kept her eyes cast downwards, she couldn't remember what she needed "was it two gloves or three?" she muttered to herself. Lilium spent a little while gathering her things, but didn't really pay much attention to the soldiers who were looking annoyed at her slow pace.

Lilium walked out of the store and looked around admiring all there was to see. "No way I can do that" she muttered again to herself as she stared awestruck at the assault course. Since she was last to gather her things she shuffled hurridly to catch up with the sergeants as they lead the group to the barracks to change.

Julian, meanwhile, had gone directly to the barracks, where he'd changed into a white shirt, leather trousers and long black duster. He clicked open a long case that had been part of his luggage, and withdrew a sword, wound in oilcloth. He quickly unwrapped it and began to inspect the length of the blade for flaws.

A throat was cleared behind him. 'Aren't you worried that you'll get those fancy clothes all sweaty?'
'Why no, Sergeant' he responded without turning around. 'I don't actually sweat, you see.'
He lifted out the bottom of the case, to reveal a hollow storage compartment. From this he took the sheath for the sword, a long length of stiff black leather with chains and straps, which he then attached to his leg and hip. Sheathing the sword, he twitched his coat over it, so that it was mostly hidden.

'Am I the only one with my own outfit then?' he asked. 'Well, while we're alone, I need to discuss accommodation with you.'
'I beg your pardon?' asked the astounded NCO.
'Accommodation. If I sleep in a room with other people, they're in danger. Seriously. My body 'defends' itself without my conscious control while I'm asleep. Whoever's in the bunk above or below me, and probably the people to either side as well, will wind up dead. I'm quite happy to sleep wherever it was you put my box - not that I actually need much sleep.'

'We're more than aware of your.. condition' came a voice from the doorway. Julian looked around to see Skyshatter leaning against the frame. 'Ordinarily we expect our recruits to adhere to a strict curfew while on base. Cadets whose power sets reduce sleeptime are usually exempt from this - within reason. Get caught by the guards at 3am in the gym, it won't be a problem. Get caught at 3am in the refectory, you're on a charge. Do I make myself clear?'

'Sir'

(*OOC: Sorry Tharrick, but do we have to pay for the Uniforms? >_> I am not sure xD)
No you don't. They get given to you. The cost will come out of your wages, which you won't get paid until you graduate - wash out, and you'll be expected to replace any damaged items at your own cost (but that'll be the least of your worries :P)

She raised an eyebrow at the base. Impressive. She looked over the uniforms laid out in the stores. She vaguely felt that she'd look like a total idiot with the mask, but she didn't really mind. She could definitely use the boots, gloves and socks.

Kaleida was taken to the barracks after taking a spare set or two of the training uniform, and opened the giant carry-case, propped up on the wall. Opening it itself was no easy task, as she had to cut through the tape on the case, and open the locks in their correct combinations, before undoing the clasps with two keys.

For her, she'd done it over and over again to do it fairly fast. Inside was lined with layers of felt and black foam, the foam holding up the massive 'Long Tom', huge silver revolver shining dimly in the light. Folded up next to it was her suit, and she changed into it. With surgical precision, she tied a tie around her collar and took a long silver needle out of the case, redoing the bun tied at the back of her head.

She walked out of the barracks, impossibly slinging the giant black metal case onto her back as if it were nothing but just a gun in a holster.
"Sergeant... sir... I can bring all of this in, right? It's basically what you'd term, ah, my weapons." After all, that was exactly what the entire case was - a giant bludgeoning box of cast-iron.

"You!" Euphilius snapped at the mountain, "Bring those cases and follow me" he commanded with complete arrogance gesturing towards the checkpoint which acted as the entrance to the base to which he began to stride holding his head high. The mountain lumbered after him, making the effort of carrying all Euphilius' luggage seem easy.

He stopped outside the small window, "On your feet soldier and let me in!" He snapped at the soldier in the checkpoint booth who was wearing the insignia of a corporal. The corporal merely glared at him not giving a response. "I'll give you one more chance since you dont know who I am!" Euphilius bellowed, "I am First Lieutenant Tresse! Now you let me in now!" He said throwing his army identification down in front of the corporal, "I demand you let me through this checkpoint and show me to my quarters!"

The corporal raised an eyebrow and smirked, "Of course sir, how rude of me" He said with a great deal of cynicism in his voice, "However I can't let you through, the Sergent himself is coming down to greet you I'll just tell him you're here" he said picking up the small radio on the table.

"Tell the sergeant our guest, a first lieutenant Tresse has arrived" he muttered, holding back the humor in his voice, into the radio.

"roger" Came the reply

"If you just wait here SIR" he said, "the sergeant will be down in just one moment to greet you and show you to your own private quarters" He said with a huge grin on his face.

"Its about damn time!" Euphilius barked with contempt, "I'll report your ignorance and insolence to your sergeant myself when he gets here. I'm sure he knows how to treat a senior officer!"

On the way to the training facility with Julian, Sergeant Varnes stopped and looked at his communicator, and sniggered. 'Right, cadet. Duty calls. First building on the left from here's the combat simulator. I have something to take care of.'

He turned, and strode away towards the main gate, quickly arriving in front of Euphilius. He saluted smartly. 'First Lieutenant Tresse, sir?'

The MPs worked like clockwork. As their commanding officer walked forward slightly lowering his weapon, the others all side stepped in perfect time as they came around front keeping their sights beaded on Reno’s torso. The lead MP reaches up and pulls back Reno’s hood, what he saw surprised him, by facial appearance Reno appeared no older then thirty-five at best, but the graying red hair told a different story. The only thing that didn’t seem foreboding about Reno’s battle hardened face is the feel of an almost brotherly love. The MP shakes his uneasy feeling and again asks Reno why he was here. “I’m here my good man to be part of this great cause, if you don’t believe me check the inner right pocket, my right, of my cloak and you’ll see my copy of my registration for this camp . The soldier carefully slides his hand into Reno’s inner cloak and indeed dose find papers, after looking them over he motions for one of his men to take Reno’s staff and another to cuff him. “Put him under lock and key ‘til I get this straightened out. A few minutes later the head MP had hunted his commanding officer down, approached him and saluted him, “Sergeant Sir, I hate to interrupt your briefing of Mr. LaMorte, but we caught an intruder that claims he has signed up for our camp. What are your orders.” As the soldier asked he hands his CO the papers he had retrieved from Reno.

"Finally!" Euphilius said sneering at the Coropal, "Someone around here has manners! At east Sergeant. Before I begin I would like to recommend that this soldier be placed on latrine duty until he learns how to talk to his senior officers. Lead the way Sergeant" He said gesturing to the sergeant to lead him to his quarters and give him the tour of the base.

"And you!" He said shooting a sharp look at the mountain, "Follow us"

'No.' Varnes said, simply. 'What you haven't noticed yet, maggot, is that your rank counts for shit on this base.'
He suddenly balled up a fist and drove it into Euphilius' stomach, winding him and knocking him to the ground. Before the man-mountain of a bodyguard could even drop the cases, Varnes had his sidearm out and aimed directly at the huge man's face. 'Stand down, civilian. This is a military matter. Cadet Maggot here has insulted an NCO, and that warrants punishment. Attempt to intervene, and you'll be shot down.'

He stooped and lifted Euphilius's head by his hair, bringing his face in close.
'You EVER try something like that again, boy, with any of my men.. and I swear I'll see you on latrine duty for the rest of your time here. Do I make myself clear?'

Euphilius hit the floor hard, his guts felt like the had been wrenched from inside him, kicked about the floor, had acid poured on, stuck in a dishwasher, then dryer, the nuclear reactor before being smushed back into his torso and his body sewn up.

"Jesus Christ" he bellowed in a half whine as the tears filled his eyes, as much as he tried to stop them they still fell onto the hot tarmac, steaming in the scorching Illinois sunlight.

He felt and heard to bodies approaching his, they picked him up and slung his arms over their shoulders as they began to drag his limp paralyzed body into the camp. His thoughts turned to anger and humiliation as he thought of his bodyguard that did nothing, "You'll regret this Hamilton" his warning geared towards the mountain who seemed to be quivering at the gun pointed at his face, "my dad pays you to take a bullet for me! Wait until he hears of this you'll never work again" He spluttered as he was led away.

His vision faded in and out of blurs and mystical shapes.... He was beginning to think he was going to be dragged forever, his good shoes would be ruined at the toe from all this.... someone was going to pay dearly for this insult.... and then he felt them let him go and he said hello to a cold hard floor..... they closed the door behind them.

"Welcome to your barracks......" They paused, "SIR" The sneered and laughed as they left him alone.

The Sgt looked at the papers then handed back to the MP. A few moments passed as he thought on what to do. Go find Varnes, I’ll let him handle this. With a click of his heels and a salute the MP was off. Meanwhile Reno was being escorted to prison barracks near the back of the Camp by three very annoyed MPs. When they finally reached the barracks on MP opened the door as another was unlocking the cuffs on Reno’s hands. As the cuffs fell off the third MP gave Reno a firm kick in the lower back making him stumble into the room with the door slamming behind him. One of them looked though a barred opening near the top of the door and shouted: “Better not think of doing anything stupid, you’ll be shot deader then a door nail.” as he motion for the other guard to stand position at the door to keep an eye on their new guest. Reno dusted himself off as pushed himself up to his knees. With a half sigh Reno turn and sat cross-legged as he raised his arms, now in full meditation Reno awaited the decision on his status. As Reno was making himself comfy the lead MP finally caught up with Varnes who seemed to be talking to a young man. Then without warn Varnes slams his clenched fist into the young mans stomach. The young man screams something that the MP couldn’t make out as he got closer. Two other MPs picked the young man up and began to drag him off as he himself salutes Varnes and says: “Sir, we have captured a man saying that he signed up to join our Initiative program, he had paper work but we’ve received no forward from any of the registration outlets. What will you have me do with him?” as he hands the papers he got off Reno to Varnes, then he stands at attention as he waited for his orders.

Lilium wandered to the barracks with her uniform and bag, she seemed to have so little in comparison to everyone else. Large cases, bodygurds helping carry various things. All she posessed was in her bag. Nothing more, nothing less, she sighed as she began to feel more and more alone. Again anopther place where she didn't belong, another life where the people who surround her will find her diffrerent. "I should be getting used to this" she thought and she stumbles along the dusty track towards the barracks.

As she got close she saw the commotion go on "Jeez...I know not to step out of line here then" she muttered as she saw a guy get punched. "Who are all these people?"
Lilium cast her eyes around the crowd trying to figure out who was who, she gasped as she saw LaMorte, "Wow....His uniform is amazing" She spoke to herself utterly amazed as LaMortes clothes. Even though Lilium lived in a city, she never really saw many people aside from at work, she didn't have a social life and spent most of her time alone at home painting or sketching. She had never seen anyone dressed as LaMorte was.

Lilium continued to walk in a daze towards the crowd of people.

Varnes glanced at the paperwork, then shrugged. 'If we haven't had anything through official channels, then he's trespassing. It's a case for the federal courts, but he's going to be in a lot of trouble. Leave him where he is for now, but notify the state police to come and pick him up.'

He turned and walked away, heading back towards the training facilities.

LaMorte stepped into the combat simulator, a large cubical room with hologram projectors studding the walls. As the door behind him closed, a hatch opened and disgorged three combat robots in powered-down states.
'It's a simple exercise' came a voice over the intercom system, and LaMorte looked up to see Varnes in an observation booth high above. 'These three robots are about to attack you. Kill them. They're in a low-power mode, so their weapons will hurt but not kill you, and they're programmed to stop before you get too badly hurt in CQ.'

Julian grinned up at the Sergeant. 'I'll try not to make it too quick - I want you to be able to see what's happening'

An ominous humming filled the room as the three robots powered up, standing and charging their weapons. A thick gloom seemed to spread out from LaMorte, filling the room with twilight which he seemed to wrap about himself, becoming distorted, as though he were underwater. Suddenly, one of the robots extended a long, thick blade from its forearm and darted forwards, far faster than its bulk would suggest possible, lashing downwards in an overhead cut that would have bisected Julian, who simply appeared to melt into the shadows on the floor, emerging from the ceiling with his sword drawn.
As he fell towards the robot, he brought the sword up above his head, then dropped it into a devastating cut that split the robot down the middle. He landed on the ground, one leg tucked under him and the other outstretched, one hand on the floor to balance himself.
'Stahlhelmhau' he breathed, then blurred into motion, skimming across the floor towards the two remaining robots, which promptly began to fire at him with plasma weapons.

Having followed the Corporal to the barracks which would house the female soldiers, in the barracks she changed into her uniform without delay. She stacked the other spare uniforms neatly away into her own, rather small closet.
Without further ado, she exited the barracks and followed the corporal, along with everyone else, as they made their way to the combat facilities.
When they arrived, they were made clear that they each had to wait their turn to fight in the combat simulator. Gina remained firm in her posture and facial expression, but she couldn't help but to think to herself how unexperienced she was in the field of battle. She was good at hiding her true feelings and what she was thinking to herself. She did not make any contact with anyone else who was then present, as instead she was watching a certain person who was battling simulation robots, on TV. "Wasn't he that guy...", she thought to herself, as quick flashbacks of her memory give her the imaginative images of the coffin which was back at the bus, where she saw it last when it was being opened, with LaMorte coming out of it. She watched in awe as she saw LaMorte morph himself into the pool of his own shadow, re-appearing above the robot and slicing it in half, as he continued to battle the other two robots. She wondered if she had to go through the same procedure that LaMorte was currently attending.

Following behind Gina and the others, Lilium was feeling really unsure of what to do...she'd never used her powers, not properly, and now she was expected to fight with them?....
She stared up at the screen watching LaMorte fight, "Wow....he's so....amazing" she muttered to herself. Feeling really uncomfortable as one of the sergents turned to the group of people.

"Who's next?" he grinned.

The MP saluted as he received his orders, Turning on his heel he turns and heads toward the main office on the base. A few minutes later he has reached his destination and turns the knob on the door and opens it. He walks though and heads toward the nearest phone. As he picks the phone up he is confronted by one of the MPs under him.
“Sir, we have conformation on our prisoner it just came in.” the MP hands his CO a few papers then continues. “Sir, he indeed is a new recruit, do you want me to go and release him?” The head MP looks at the documents as he slams the receiver of the phone back down. “Damn, I can’t believe this! Yes hurry and release him then bring him here. I hope he doesn’t hold this against us.”

“Don’t be absurd my good man, you were only dong your job.” The head MP quickly turns to where the voice came from as a light tap of a walking staff can be heard. Looking to see Reno before him his jaw slightly drops. “How did you get out of ours prison barracks?!” “ I’m afraid that would be telling, lets just say that it was a matter of mind over matter.” The MP almost goes into a fit as he begins to visibly shake “Your just lucky we already made a unfortunate mistake, or I would throw you back in jail, now go with Johns here and get your supplies from the store, now get outta my sight before I change my mind.” Reno bowed as he started to follow Johns out. Soon they were in front of the supply store where he got everything that he needed. Johns then escorts Reno to his barracks. “Okay, soldier get changed then I’ll escort you to the training facility.

Reno enters the barracks and chose an unoccupied bed and sat his staff on it, he then unties the chords on his cloak and places it on the bed. A few minutes later he is changed into the uniform and places his cloths in the trunk in front of his bed. Looking at the cloth mask he chose he shrugs and places it in his left pocket. Picking his cloak up and slipping it over his shoulders he reties the chords and pulls the hood over his head. Grabbing his staff he walks back out of the barracks where John is still waiting. He escorts Reno to the training facility where the other recruits were to gather then leaves. Reno walks in and sees that some one was already fighting in a simulation.

Kaleida watched the "LaMorte" man attack his foes with relative ease. The clothing (which she personally thought was 'tacky'), the coffin and his 'abilities', all of it confirmed what she had been suspicious of in the first place.

The man was hardly a mutant; rather, a monster. Kaleida wasn't surprised at this at all. She'd made a living out of killing monsters such as he for more than ten years of her childhood. She knew what one was when she saw one.
I don't like him being here at all, but I guess I don't have a say in it.

LaMorte flipped up between the two bursts of plasma, righting himself in mid-air and hurling his sword in a spinning arc that plunged it point-first into the chest of one of the robots with enough force to blast the machine backwards across the chamber. His leap landed him in front of the final machine, which he quickly put down by slamming his hand through it, tearing the processor from its chest.

'OK, Cadet. Out of the sim chamber. Who's next?'

Euphilius felt his vitality returning and he slowly picked himself up off the ground. He perched on the end of the nearest bunk. His mind was a blur of emotions and questions... He was told he was to be an officer.... they had messed him around..."Someone will pay for this insult" he said to himself angrily reflecting on his recent humiliation.

He turned quickly, hearing a noise, to see an MP stood at the door. "You're required in the simulator" He said in a monotonus dull voice, the kind of voice that would cause even the worlds sharpest knife to go blunt in a second. He grabbed Euphilius by the arm and led him out of the barracks. The simulation facility was only a matter of minutes away. When Euphilius arrived there were lots of other cadets already there, some of whom looked exhausted who had obviously already been through the simulation... it looked rigorous.

"Weaklings... itll be a walk in the park" Euphilius scoffed to himself.

"Well, in case you people aren't going..." Kaleida dusted herself off and picked up the man-high iron box on her back.

The door closed behind her, and she set the box on a particular side of the wall she felt... whatever she felt like good karma, karma at this point being nowhere in particular.
New robots powered up their weapons, but Kaleida was content to watch them circle. She closed her eyes, and decided to listen rather than watch the robots, their every movement a soft grinding of gears, the acrid smell of burning plastic faint in her nostrils.

Through her mind, she premeditated her movements. Not her attacks. If she'd covered enough situations beforehand, she would have no need to attack the robots... herself. All she had to do was to open the right situation.
Robots were mildly more predictable than humans or monsters.

The robot closest to her drew out a blade and charged as she twisted a single foot in a small inward angle...

---

Kaleida lightly leapt backwards away from the charging robot as it continually lunged, stabbing here and there, Kaleida dodging and weaving as the blade almost, but not quite, entirely missed her over and over again, usually centimetres away.

She ran out of room, the hard wall of the room getting closer fast. The robot made a calculated swing at it, and she simply sidestepped the robot, took it by the arm and plunged the arm deep into the wall.
The motors and gears in its feet whirred and clicked in futility.

The second robot which had been charging forward from the side lost sight of Kaleida as she flipped over the first robot's head, and the other robot instead impaled the first one through the shoulders, filling the room with the smell of burning metal again.

She casually walked up to the second robot and tore the cables out the back of its neck. the robot fizzled and dropped to the ground.
The third robot jumped out from practically nowhere, and Kaleida once again put on the dodging and weaving act, the robot firing charges of plasma as well. As she jumped over its head, she pulled an outstretched arm over the robots head, and with an almighty heave brought it crashing down on its back.

She pulled out the needle that tied up her hair, and plunged it, all the inches, into the head, where it short-circuited most of the components, and the robot lay still.
Her hair fell to the small of her back.

She turned around, and the doors to the chamber opened. She pulled the needle out of the still-smoking robot, tied her hair up into the bun again, and walked out of the room.

As Kaleida made her way out of the training room the officer in charge turned to the group of would be heroes and asks “ Which of you maggots are next?” Seeing no one making any movements Reno walks forward. The officer looks blankly at Reno before motioning for him to step through the doors. With every other step Reno took the light tap of his walking stick is heard. The doors close behind him as the simulation starts. Three mechanical monsters that looked just like the three Kaledia fought appeared before Reno. They whirled to life and start their pre calculated opening attacks. Reno ducks and dodges through their attacks like Kaleida before him. Reno catches an opening early and darts up the blade that the drone had slashed at him with. With a flipping twist Reno grabs the attacking arm and brings it up and over the robots head. With a quick thrusting kick Reno breaks the elbow joint on its arm and drives the beast’s own weapon into its head. Electrical sparks and smoke fill the room as the robot crumples to the floor. The eyes on the other two flash as they upload the data they had just gathered on Reno’s fighting abilities.

With a click and whirl the one on the left brings up his plasma rifle and begins to fire a volley of attacks on and around Reno. Watching the movement of the mechanical monster’s arm Reno carefully sides steps out of the way of the shots that would hit him. While Reno was preoccupied with the robot firing on him the second flips out a second blade and attacks Reno from the side, Surprised Reno almost has no time to dodge the attack. As result of the attack Reno hit’s the ground rolling a small trail of blood can be seen on the floor leading to where he came to a stop. The two robots converge on Reno at angles making Reno the tip of the pyramid of their attack. The robot with blades pulls his plasma rifle out as well as they begin to fire upon Reno again. Under the shadow of his hood a smile forms on Reno’s face as he darts forward through the rain of fire. When in close enough proximity to the two Reno leaps high into the air and spins. Targeting the robot to his left he throws his walking stick like a lance. It strikes the robot’s head and some how pierces it, an electrical buzz can be heard as smoke pours from the robots head. The last robot hones in on Reno but he is far to close to be fired on, it then make a futile attempt to flip out one of its blades. But Reno hits its chest with a drop kick, leaning forward Reno grabs its right shoulder with his left hand and pulls himself into a squat on its chest as it falls backward. Reno raises his right hand and yells “Snake Bite!” he then slams his right hand forward and wraps it around the droids faces, a loud crushing sound can be heard as the robots head crumples in on itself and explodes.

As the robot hit’s the ground Reno rolls back to the still standing malfunctioning robot he had thrown his walking stick through. Reno again uses his snake bite to tear a hole in its chest. He casually pulls his walking stick out of the robots head as a red and black smoke billows from the hole in its chest. The door opens as Reno make his way to it , again with every other step a light tap can be heard.

Gina watched in awe as the other heroes performed in the combat simulator, all of them with quite a lot of ease. She began to wonder to herself if she was up to the task of being a heroine at all. All of them seemed quite confident in their ability to fight.
This train of thought was interrupted when the Sergeant said with a loud, demanding voice to both Gina and Lilium, "Just the two of you, one of you go in! We don't have all day, MARCH!"
With that, Gina responded to the Sergeant, indicating she was next to go in. "Sir!"
She entered the combat simulation chamber as the steel door opened for her. She really didn't feel confident much, but she had to get past at least this obstacle which was to destroy the three robots present in the chamber. She clutched her golden-like necklace with one hand, and said "Ready...". She pulled the necklace, as each falling piece was engulfed by a sharp light, her body the same as her clothes were transformed into her heroine battle outfit. She held up her right hand as the necklace pieces gathered together to form and shape which was a large halberd, the ax and pike parts of the halberd being quite larger and more elaborate than what would be of a normal halberd.
She swung the large weapon behind her back using one arm, and got into her fighting stance. She looked more confident than when she entered, as if she had gone through a personality make-up.
Very soon after this, the first robot attacked, just like it attacked all the others, coming forwards to Gina swiftly, threatening to harm her with its large, thick blade. She knew this was coming, so as the robot came charging to her, she pulled the halberd back over her shoulder, slamming it straight down on top of the robot when it came close enough for Gina to hit it. The halberd, due to its weight and the force put behind it, sliced quite easily through the robots armour, penetrating it with a deep cut, damaging it enough to stop it from functioning.
She grabbed the halberd with her second hand, and with a heave she pulls it back up again, readying herself for the other two robots.
They began to fire at Gina using their plasma weapons, but since Gina saw how they fought on TV before she went in, she was mentally prepared for them already.
"Foolish...!" She dived out of the way, making the plasma shots miss her altogether. Using that opportunity, she ran across to the other side of the room where the Robots were, and swung her ax-like halberd at the robot which was closest to her, cleanly slicing its head off as it fell with a clatter onto the floor, rolling a little bit before coming to a full stop. "Foolish once again!", she said, with a very confident voice, feeling certain she had the entire fight under control. However, the robot did not stop functioning, as it aimlessly this time started firing in random directions, making the battlefield even more hectic than it already was. Gina then effortlessly landed herself on top of the third and final robot, held her halberd upside down, and stabbed through the robot's neck and torso, and forcefully pulled the halberd back out, as she landed on her feet elegantly.
With the headless robot still aimlessly trying to shoot in random, but fixed directions, Gina approached it from behind, and readied her halberd once more. She spoke with a merciless voice: "The enmity of the Valkyrie will consume all of the ignorant..."
With a mighty swing upwards, she brought the robot from its stance, flying into the air as it landed with a solid thud onto the ground. Very soon after, it finally ceased firing, having fully stopped functioning.
A metal door then opened at the end of the room for Gina to pass through. With her halberd by her side, she walked through the door, leaving the room.

Lilium was last to go in the training simulator, as she stepped forward to the same cry of "NEXT" from the sergant she stopped at the door of the simulator. Petrified she stood there, the door opened as she stared into the room, now slightly battered looking due to the prior fights, she took a deep breath. Her head was aching and her stomach felt like it was full of butterflies all wanting to escape at the same time. She clenched her fists trying to give herself the confidence that she had seen in the fights before her.

The sergant sighed due to his impatience and shoved Lilium into the room.

Lilium stumbled forward, trying to keep her balance and some dignity, she looked around the large cold room, and spotted one of the cameras above her. Knowing all to well that everyone was watching her she pulled her uniform straigh and tried her best to walk confidently into the middle of the room, embarassingly she stumbled a little and she began to blush.
Just as before three robots were awaiting her, as they began to power up the only thing rushing through Lilium's head was "Oh shi..."

The Robots targetted her almost instantly, not ever being in a situation such as this before and only ever having to deal with the odd drunkard at the cafe/bar where she worked, Lilium was completely out of her depth.
Two of the robots launched themselves at her with what Lilium could only describe as "bladed arms" petrified she tried to jump out of the way. They missed her by mere millimetres, tearing her trousers, as she landed she toppled over to find herself at point blank range to the third robot who shot at her with its arm-mounted plasma rifle. Rolling to one side she was missed again. However the two robots from earlier had whirled around behind her and both slashed at her back.

Lilium screamed in pain, the wounds weren't deep but they were enough to cause pain and a large amount of bleeding. She clutched her back feeling the dampness of the blood as she closed her eyes wanting it to just go away. As she did this the third robot fired again at her, like a sitting duck she was an easy target, but just before the plasma bolt hit Lilium a vast darkness erupted from her body. The plasma bolt was smothered, and it just disintegrated. The whole room was taken over by this darkness, like a small explosion it errupted and took over the whole building. It lasted no longer than a mere few seconds, but it was enough time for the whole training unit to be covered in darkness.

The lights flickered back on, as Lilium lay in a small heap in the middle of the training room floor, her top stained slightly with blood, her clothes torn all over, her hair a mess, and her locket helf firmly in her hand. The robots on the other hand remained perfectly still as if frozen in time, completely deactivated.

Soldiers and medical staff rushed into the room, and began to load Lilium onto a stretcher as technicians swarmed over the three disabled combat robots.
One of them prised off a protective plate, and reached into the robot's interior, then withdrew his hand with a sharp hiss. 'It's cold!' he exclaimed, peering at the ice-encrusted cabling and circuits inside.

LaMorte smiled to himself as he felt the aftereffects of the darkness fading from his body. A power strong enough to block the effects of daylight? It could be useful. Especially with some of the looks he'd seen coming his way from Constantine.

"Someone who can do what she just did doesn't need pity" he thought to himself. "Still" he thought, "They're all good but I do think I could show them how its done" he pondered as his confidence rose thinking that the training facilities were useless now so he wouldn't have to get in there with those damn piece of junk.

"Oh well" he said outloud grabbing the other recruits attention, "pity you guys can't see how a combat hardened expert would do it." he mocked, his ego expanding at the same rate as the universe.

Reno laughed to himself as the young man made his statement. Battle hardened eh. Well now the histories on this one is rather accurate. Well I’m curious now. The sorcerer thought to himself. Pulling his left hand back into his cloak, he began to chant a spell under his breath. As he nears the end of the incantation he places his left hand palm out on the small of his lower back. Reno then leans back on the wall as his palm flattens against it. A weak magical pulse emanates from the area he touched as the magical spell traveled down the wall toward the busted training facility. The circuitry return to normal as the spell took hold repairing the room to operational condition. The three droids that had been frozen in time circuits sizzle and smoke as they crumple over. The lead technician scratches his head over what had just occurred. It was unexplainable the facility had went from busted to usable all by itself. The technician users his team out of the room as he makes his way to the Sgt to make his report. Reno casually looks around, a smile again spreads across his hidden face. At the moment it seemed that no one noticed him casting the spell. Looking in no particular direction Reno speaks: "My, my young man it appears as though you can indeed show us how a battle hardened expert would do it.."

Lilium's now limp body was escorted to the medical rooms. Her tatto, formerly smothering the majority of her body in a large spiked-tribal pattern, was now merely a faded swirl around her eye and across her cheek.
She was taken to a small cold room with one bed pushed up against the wall and aftew odd machines dotted around the sides of the room. There was also a small cabinet where the majority of that room's supplies were kept.
Lilium was hooked up to a machine to monitor her health, and a drip was put in her arm to keep her fluids up. The medical staff left the room, but watched her through the glass in the door.

"What did she do?" the first asked.

After a mometary pause and stare at Lilium lying in the bed "F#ck knows" was his response.

Julian turned his grin on Euphilius, showing off two small, pointed fangs. 'Yes, oh powerful warrior. We've all been waiting for you to show us how it's done.' Euphilius strode confidently into the room, holding his head high. However his confidence quickly seemed to fade as the door slammed and locked behind him.
"Piece of piss" he said reassuring himself. Truth be told he hadn't used his skills intentionally that much. During his time in the army he had tried his best to keep them under wraps as there were mixed feelings amongst the GIs about those with powers.

Euphilius heard the whirring noise of the three fresh robots as they powered up. One was armed with a plasma rifle, the other two were equipped with bladed arms. The plasma rifle fired, Euphilius dodged the blast and rolled to his right as his adrenalin began to kick in. As the rifle began to recharge, the first of the bladed robots charged at Euphilius, its mechanical arms swinging both blades in unison.

"Ok... just like a million times before" Euphilius said to himself in his head as the robot continued its approach. He consentrated. He began to feel a tingling sensation, as if his body was slowly becoming numb, beginning in his fingers and toes and spreading up to his torso. The robot stopped in its tracks unable to target him as he faded in and became invisible in his surroundings.

Euphilius began to move quickly, trying to flank the robots however his hope was short lived as the plasma rifle robot followed his every movement as the rifle recharged, "Damn" he thought, "it must have a heat seeking device attatched to it" This thought was cut short as the rifle fired again causing Euphilius to take evasive action. He could see the jeering looks on the faces of those outside, "Time to get this party started" he said running towards the plasma rifle robot, he had only a few seconds. He quickly side stepped the robots line of sight and got round behind it and grabbed its mechanical arms, he pointed them in the direction of the bladed robot that had just attacked him, the rifle went off blowing a hole in the bladed robot and reducing it to scrap metal.

Euphilius adjusted the aim of the robot once more, he was beginning to tire as the robot was beginning to fight back, "hurry up" he thought waiting for the rifle to charge. Finally to this relief the rifle went off, however it only clipped its bladed arm, however the bladed robot powered down. Finally Euphilius crouched down behind the rifle robot and opened the back panel, "red wire or green wire?" he said to himself. "OH WHAT THE HELL" he declared as he shoved his fist in and grabbed a fist full of wires and yanked them out. The rifle robot powered down there and then.

Euphilius came out of his camouflaged state. He approached the viewing window and gestured to those outside, "See piece of cake!" However his confidence slowly drained as he heard a whirring noise behind him, he quickly turned to see the previously self deactivated blade robot charging at him swinging its one good arm maliciously. In his shock, Euphilius let out a high pitched girlish squeel and dived out the way, however he was too slow and the robot cut him on his right arm, blood gushed from the open wound.

Euphilius had no choice, it was either be left drained of energy or die right here. He summoned all his strength. The pile of rubble that was the first bladed robot began to tremble and then all at once one of the blades shot from the rubble and pointed towards his attacker shot straight into the torso of the second bladed robot. His attacked burst into a vat of flames.

Euphilius felt the wound on his arm close up. The simulator powered down but he remained on the floor, drained of his energy.

Lilium lay in the medical room alone, the two staff waited anxiously outside, monitoring her stats form a small screen next to the door.
As she lay there she bagan to dream, if you could call it dreaming. Lilium never really dreamt of anything, they were more commonly called nightmares.

(Liliums "Dream")
Lilium was sat at a square table alone in a room, she couldn't see the walls, and so could not judge the size of the room. This was because it was in complete darkness. A lone candle flickering gently was her only source of light. For a long time she just sat there staring into the dark wating for "it" to come for her. Soon enough a cold chill ran across her body, the candle went out and she was in darkness once again.
As "it" constricted her dream-body Lilium felt seering pain run across her face.

(Real World)
Whilst Lilium was dreaming she began to move about in her sleep. Her heart rate increased as her dream progressed.
"What the?" exclaimed one of the medical staff as he noted her heart rate, "I have no idea" said the other ans he witnessed her twitching becoming progressively more violent, "We have to sedate her she's gonna hurt herself!"
The medical staff rushed into the room and grabbed at Liliums flailing arms and legs.

(Liliums "Dream")
Lilium felt "it" grab at her arms and legs, she let out a scream but to no avail, "it" just clung tighter.

(Real World)
The lights in the medical room flickered on and off afew times before the whole room fell into utter darkness. The machines monitoring her health became illegible as ice began to form over the screen, the room's temperature dropped greatly as the two men tried to inject a sedative into Lilium's arm.
"Crap, what is going on? I can't see! Hurry up will you!"
"I can't see either and the seringe...it's frozen"
The two man were begining to feel the cold as their bodies began to shiver.
"The drip is a block of ice to"
"What do we do?"
"I have no idea..."

One of the medics managed to stagger over to the wall, and despite the pitch darkness, located the emergency alarm. He hammered his fist through the break-away glass slide, and hit the button inside before his breath caught in his lungs and he passed out.

Alarms began to blare throughout the facility, and Varnes abandoned the cadets in the training facility, rushing to the medical centre.

(Liliums "Dream")
Lilium felt the pressure around her arms and legs release, but this was no good, "it" began to tighten around her neck, she began to frantically relight the candle, but to no avail.
"L...l..lli..light....." she mumbled.

(Real World)
The dark void had now completely consumed the room, all heat had been sucked from it. The twoo medical staff lay on the floor collaped but still alive, just. The door had frozen shit as all the moisture in the air turned to ice.Varnes reached the Medical Facility in record time and peered into the window trying to see what the emergency was, due to the dark void inside he could see nothing at all. He reached for the handle but instantly pulled back in shock.
"Ice?"
He tried shoulder slamming the door open, but nothing was working.
"God damnit!"

Julian watched Varnes carefully from the shadows in the corridor. This wasn't a good situation - his weapon was in there, and if she died before he figured out how to make use of her... well, that wouldn't be any good now, would it?
He stepped backwards through the shadow, bringing himself into the un-natural darkness filling the medical facility. He could feel the power thrilling through his nerves, everything he would normally feel on the darkest of nights. This is definitely the right one he thought. Three heartbeats - one fast and steady, two faltering. Must be the medics. I can't get them out - I can't bring them through the shadow with me. I'll have to cut this off at the source

He walked over to Lilium, lying in her bed, and paused for a moment. She's asleep. And she must be deep, or she'd have woken up from the cold in here. Just as well I'm not worried about conserving body heat
He reached out, and placed a hand on her cheek, tracking his fingers up towards her eye. He carefully pulled her eye open, and focused his gaze into it, taking advantage of the dark's effects on his powers to force his way into her mind and forcibly rip her out of the dream. Just as quickly, he dampened her power, filling the ward with light again, the cessation of artificial night cutting the connection between the two.

Reno merely observed the chaos that erupted around him as the alarms rang loudly though-out the boot camp. Moments latter the training simulator doors slid open reveling Euphilius’ form lying on the ground. Reno lightly chuckled to himself as he slowly began to walk over the boastful young man. As he neared the simulator he saw Euphilius begin to pick himself from the floor. The light tapping of Reno’s walking staff caught no one attention in the chaos that had erupted around them, while he was walking Reno peered into the void looking to see what the reason for the alarms were. His focus was drawn to a medical facility where the young woman that was taken away on a stretcher was carried. The whole area was surrounded in darkness, and for a few moments it seemed as though she was fighting for her very life. He almost decided to act when he felt the presences of the vampire enter the room, watching he saw that Julian intended to help her, so there was no need to blow his cover as a mere “fighter” just yet. When he finally reached Euphilius Reno outstretched his right hand in help and jokingly said “My, my young man for a battle hardened warrior, you sure are wet behind the ears”

Euphilius glared with contempt at Reno. He looked at the outstretched hand before him. He felt insulted and humiliated, he broke his eye contact with Reno and helped himself up, even though he was unsteady on his legs he stood with arrogance, pride and contempt.

He gently walked out of the simulator room, brushing roughly against Reno's left shoulder as he went. As he got to the exit, he stopped still and spoke to Reno who was still in the simulator room, "We'll see how wet behind the ears I am once the real battle starts. If I were you, I would watch my back until then"

Lilium awoke with a start gasping for air
"w...what?" she mumbled as she placed her hand on her head, "ice cold?" she thought to hereself as she glanced around the now completely frozen room.
Noticing the now limp bodies of the two medical staff and LaMorte standing before her Lilium was more than confused, she was scared. She bagan to panick, as she pulled the neeled out of her arm and the various wires that monitored her heart off her chest they shattered. Lilium bagan to glance at everything in the room.
"what...." hear breath quickened "what happened here?...i..." she stared up at LaMorte "I don't remember..." her eyes were fixed om his. She soon became overwhelmed with emotion "WHY CAN'T I REMEMBER!" she screamed as she clutched her head tight, but her gaze remained on LaMorte.

Euphilius had followed the commotion towards the medical wing. He pushed his way through the small colony of personnel that had begun to gather. He saw Lilium and LaMorte through the viewing glass. Lilium was clutching her head and was in distress, seemingly sobbing and tearing at her own head.

Euphilius nudged the recruit next to him, "Bitch is ****ed up eh?"

LaMorte turned his head and fixed Euphilius with a glare through the one-way mirror. His eyes flashed crimson again with the promise of pain in the future.

Euphilius winced slightly, turning from the other recruit who was sniggering, as he felt a splint of pain tear through his forehead. He felt although all his positive feelings and emotions had been stripped from him. There was silence, Euphilius looked around all of those around. They him were stood frozen.

A horrible cold sensation crept up his spine as he slowly looked up. Lamorte was stood glaring at him through the screen... and Euphilius for the first time in his life felt like the prey...

Words formed in Euphilius' head, skipping his ears and wiring themselves directly into his hindbrain, searing past the fight or flight response and paralysing him like a rabbit in the headlights.
'You call yourself a soldier, snivelling brat? All you can do is stand there and mock the kind of people you're supposed to protect. No wonder they brought you back down to cadet -you're not worthy to be an officer. You're not even worthy of being here. Get out of my sight before I rip your throat out and bathe in the spray'
LaMorte was suddenly standing in front of Euphilius, having somehow moved through the glass in the blink of an eye. He casually reached out and struck Euphilius, knocking him from his feet.

The problem with time slowing down is that once it resumes again, it has to move extra fast to compensate.

Euphilius fell to his knees clutching the side of his face, he tasted blood, noise once again filled the room as life returned to the people around him. Euphilius looked up to see LaMorte still stood over Lilium. Anger tried to once again take over Euphilius' mind however it was blocked by a feeling of cold fear and confusion. What had just happened... had he dreamed it. He slowly picked himself up and quickly walked out of the medical wing.

Once outside he let out a deep sigh and reached into his pocket. From it he withdrew a small silver case with his families coat of arms engraved on it. He opened the case and pulled out a cigarette. Replacing the case inside his jacket he now took out a lighter, his hands trembled lots as he attempted to light the cigarette.

Varnes looked at where Euphilius was and back to the medical door, "I dont get paid enough for this sh!t" he mumbled. "YOU LOT MAKE ROOM!" he shouted at the now gathered crowd. "You two" he pointed at two soldiers standing nearby, "Get that door open NOW!"
"Sir" the soldiers saluted and both slammed at the door, fortunately for them the ice had weakened due to the fact that the dark void was no longer there. On the third slam the door swung open and the two soldiers fell to the floor in a heap.
"You just can;'t get the man power theese days" Varnes sighed "GET UP YOU PUSSIES!" the soldiers stumbled to their feet slipping on the ice.

Lilium looked up and jumped a little in shock as the door was opened, out of confusion and fear she clung to the nearest thing to her, LaMorte's right arm.

"GET IN HERE NOW" Varnes yelled as more medical staff rushed into the room to take the collapsed medical staff out of the room. "You! what on earth is going on!" Varnes fixed his glare onto Lilium "what the HELL happened here young lady!" he began to stamp over to her, trying to keep his stance on the icy floor.
"I...i..uh" Lilium bagan
"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO!" Varnes screamed not giving Lilium a chance to speak.
Out of sheer fear Lilium buried her head in LaMorte's arm and fell silent.

(Please note that since I was absent from the RP for a while, I will work my post up to where you guys are currently at now.)

Gina had made no contact with any of the other fellow people who were also training to be heroes like herself, after she left the combat sim. She was greeted by two soldiers who were waiting at the exit for her, and commanded that she had to revert back into her old form, else she could not proceed and return to the others. Gina did not hesitate for a second, and was covered once again with a shining light which covered her, and her weapon reformed with the light into the necklace once again, which formed around her neck. The light dimmed away, and Gina was in her uniform once again.
"Alright, soldier, MARCH!", said one of the two soldiers to indicate her leave.
Gina responded "SIR!" and walked back to where the others went.
When she arrived, she remained quiet to herself, just slightly alarmed at after what she has just gone through in the combat simulator. It was simple, but it still alarmed her slightly, nonetheless.
After Lilium had taken her turn in the combat simulator, she was brought to the medical centre. Gina herself did not follow until many of the others followed after. She was quite curious herself though, as it was not much later that finally after some time, she decided to go to the medical centre herself, not able to contain her curiosity concerning Lilium.
When she arrived, she saw Euphilius in the hallway attempting to light a cigarette. She couldn't help but wonder why someone would be allowed to smoke in a medical centre in the first place, but she decided to leave him alone. At that moment, she heard someone yell. "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO!"
She decided to look through the glass, wondering what the commotion was about, when she found the room was quite covered with ice. "What happened here?" she said, indirectly addressing Euphilius.

Reno took a couple of steps back as Euphilius roughly bumped past him. The smile faded from Reno’s hidden face as he watched the young recruit blow past the training facilities doors. Reno pulled his hand back into his cloak before he began to make his way out. Every other step he took a light tap accented his walk. Reno followed the chaos as he exited the door of the and started to head toward the medical wing where Lilium was being treated. So far everything that was happening was going in accordance with the history he had learned growing up in Babylon City. When he reached the medical facility there was a dark presence about it and Reno couldn’t help but to laugh to himself it almost felt like home back at the Limitless Fortress. He softly turned the knob on the door and entered the building once inside he sees Euphilius and Gina, the latter of which was peering into a medical room though its window. Reno silently propped himself up on the opposite wall. Soon Gina was asking a question to Euphilius whom seemed to be visibly shaken. He made an attempt to stutter out an answer but to little avail.

Reno thought for a second before he broke the silence that Euphilius had left. “Well, the answer young lady is simple. Lilium is just now learning to use her powers. Thus she has limited control over them, as seen with that sudden outburst that wrecked the training facility and another similar yet different outburst that happened here.” Reno’s attention then turns to Euphilius “As for you young man, you truly are spoiled. First you shrug off a helping hand like it hurt you pride, and secondly you’re left whimpering when some one shows greater power then your used too. Now I also know your gifted with the powers of telekinesis, and have a lot of room for growth. But you won’t get anywhere before you get around that foolish pride and ego of yours.”

The sound of a throat being cleared behind him caused Euphilius to pause.
'If they're freaks' Skyshatter said, scowling, 'then so are you. So are all of us. But there's an option, if you want to be different from us. You just keep on acting the way you are now. Because you're just one step from being washed out of this program, and do you know what that means? It means that we SPIN you. Power-inhibiting nanites injected into your bloodstream. Instant depowering. Permanent depowering. And a permanent black mark on your military record - black enough that you could never again work in the military in any capacity, for the rest of your life. All these things will come about if you keep trying my patience, you brat!'
By the end of his rant, Skyshatter's voice had risen to a shout, and a cobweb of cracks had appeared across the walls, floor and ceiling of the corridor. With a visible effort, he mastered himself again, then turned to Varnes.
'Sergeant. Cadet Parasyte is on punishment duties. I recommend marching drill starting from now until 2200 hours. Such a veteran soldier shouldn't find that a problem.'
The sarcasm dripping from his words was almost tangible.

As he spoke, two MPs appeared from behind the sergeant and flanked Euphilius at both sides. “Come with us recruit” one of them uttered as they linked arms with Euphilius and led him away out of the medical facility and to the barracks.

As they entered the barracks, one of the MPs stood at the door to bar any hopes of escape that Euphilius had. The second marched Euphilius over to his bunk and pointed at the neatly laid out uniform on it, “Change into your recruit uniform at once!” he barked. Euphilius paused and looked at the uniform and then slowly to the MP, “eeerm…. In front of you guys?” he questioned a sense of cockiness coming back to him now that skyshatter was out of the way, “What, you gonna like rape me or something?” he said a smirk growing on his face quickly turning to laughter. The MP laughed as well, laughing along with Euphilius and then he suddenly brought the back of his hand down hard across Euphilius face. Euphilius flinched at the blow.

“Don’t you ever question an order from me recruit, now you change into that uniform in the next ten seconds or I’ll make sure that you’re drinking soup through a straw for the rest of your natural born life!” Euphilius had no comeback; he simply began to remove his clothing and slipped into the recruit uniform. Once he had his boots on he picked himself up and headed for the exit, however the second MP wouldn’t budge.
The first called after him, “forgetting something aren’t we?” Euphilius turned to see the MP holding a military Bergen, “Catch” he said and hurled the Bergen through the air, as Euphilius caught him the weight caught him off guard and he lost his balance, stumbling backwards into the MP blocking the door. “Careful pretty boy” the MP said, “That is 35Kg of Uncle Sam’s Finest military equipment. You break anything in there and we’ll break you recruit!” Euphilius reluctantly placed the Bergen on both shoulders. He had forgotten how heavy they were, it had been a long time since he last wore one. He could feel himself going backwards with the weight but he was able to stop himself by mustering all his strength.

“Is that all…” Euphilius paused and swallowed hard, “…sir” he added turning bright red. “Not quite recruit, now we have my favourite” the MP said leaving the barracks. The other MP retained his position, remaining silent choosing only to glare at Euphilius as if he was looking right through him. The MP returned after a ten minute absence holding a rifle, “My favourite part” he resumed, “The M16A2 standard issue, air cooled, gas charged, magazine fed, automatic and semi automatic rifle… Don’t break it.” He said before again, like he did the Bergen, throwing the rifle at Euphilius who this time caught the rifle with both hands with ease. “Now follow me recruit” he beckoned. Euphilius left the barracks in full gear, the two MPs again flanking his side. They escorted him to the drill square. As they approached Euphilius could spot a familiar figure greeting him.

"LaMorte.....wha...what did I do?" she looked up from her bed and back into LaMorte's eyes as she wiped away her tears..."what did.....you do?" her tone of voice was quiet and confused.

Reno silently watched as Euphilius was escorted off by the MP, in a similar fashion that he was earlier that day. Reno could only shake his head in disgust; How can one so young be so self centered he thought. Reno pulled himself from the wall and stared at his feet for a few moments Well, this is a more primitive time, I have a lot to learn about people of the 21st century Reno rolled these thoughts across his mind as he walked forward. This time he carries his walking stick instead of allowing it to accent his steps with a light tap. He stops beside Gina and peers into the room blocked to either of them, there he sees LaMorte the Powerful 5 Star General Vampire and Lilium the Master of Shadows, they were young and their futures as two of the greatest Hero’s of this era aren’t apparent yet. Reno decided it was time to confront the two that almost changed the future for the best centuries before Reno himself was even born.

Reno places his right hand on the door for a moment before he uses his strength to rip into the reinforced steel. With a grunt he rips into the door even more forcing it to slide into its open position. He again allows his walking stick support his weight as he enters the room as Lilium ask if she had killed anyone. Taking a moment he walks to the first medical officer then the second. With a sigh of relief he looks back to Lilium, “No Mam, their both still alive just unconscious.” Reno then begins to walk toward the two again his walking stick making a light tap with every other step. When he reached them and salutes LaMorte. Reno pulls back his hood reveling his face to other people for the third time that day, again the only thing that gave away his age is his graying hair. Reno looks over the two rubbing his beard thinking what would be the best way to explain what he needed to explain. “If you two don’t mind I need to speak with you, but first I need you to look into my eyes.”

'They say that the eyes are the window to the soul' LaMorte muttered, then looked up and fixed Reno with his stare. 'What do you see in someone who doesn't have one?'

Varnes was standing on the parade ground watching Euphilius approach.
'Cadet Parasyte. It's a shame you didn't serve in the ranks during your time in the conventional military, or you'd have learned an important lesson that would have stood you in good stead today - check six before badmouthing superior officers. You also would have learned the value of the soldiers that you train with. But since you didn't, I shall have to teach you now. MARCH!'

As Euphilius began to march, Varnes fell into step alongside him. 'Some of the threats that you will have to deal with, if you ever graduate from this program, are far too great for you to be able to deal with on your own. Threats like Hydra, the terrorist organisation. They like to go for big attacks, and there are a hell of a lot of them. Tony Stark tasked us with putting together a team to defend this state against threats like that, and if you continue acting the way you are, then you'll be an obstacle in the formation of the team. The minute Skyshatter sees you as an obstacle, he'll wash you out. Five minutes after that, and you'll be in the infirmary having a dose of SPIN units injected into your bloodstream. Twenty seconds after THAT, and you'll just be another normal human being again. My advice, and if you have a lick of sense in your head you'll take it, is to forget that you were ever an officer. And forget any notions that these people are somehow beneath you. LaMorte's from a noble vampiric line that makes kings look like farmers. Sigrún is a GODDESS. Project C is one of the finest products of one of our clandestine operations. Many of your fellow cadets here have lineages far more impressive than yours, and yet you seem to be the one with the superiority complex. If you're going to wash out, it'll be because of that.'

He turned and walked away, pausing briefly to converse with one of the MPs watching Euphilius march.

Wretchedness, a lack of life. Sometimes it's not hard to imagine a soulless creature that doesn't belong on the Planet. Kaleida stood there silently as LaMorte fell into his own little superiority complex of his own. Although his complex was vaguely justafiable unlike the wreck marching around the grounds of the boot camp.

Kaleida looked at Lilium. Her face reminded her of someone she'd known a long, long time ago. Despite all that power, it seemed that her powers were entirely detracted away from her real humanly self. Poor child. Having to shift from one person to another like that.

She frowned suddenly, and looked at her. To find refuge with the damned... She walked off, but she always kept an ear out for whatever LaMorte was doing.

OOC: This post will have Reno's first use of the Jagan, so anytime you see blue from my post its Reno's Jagan.
IC:

Reno smiled at the at that old saying, as he locked eyes with LaMorte, “They also say that you can pick through a million lives, and never have one of your own. But ones life nor the soul is the reason I’ve asked you two to look into my gaze, the future beckons and I’m here to allow the beckon to be answered. Reno caught Lilium peering from around LaMorte’s arm and that is all he needed, Reno’s grin widened as small fangs appeared, at that same instant his icy blue eyes turn dark navy as his pupils become reptilian like slits.

Suddenly the room as well a Reno is consumed by a dark spiraling darkness. The spiraling intensifies for a moment, but then as suddenly as it started it ended reveling that they were no longer in the medical wing, where ever they were it was a barren place, all white in all directions for as far as the eye could see. Suddenly the silence is broke by Reno’s voice and a light tapping . “As for your question Lilium, my name is Reno Draconis, I’m a sorcerer and I’ve been sent to this era to help advert an catastrophe. Reno’s form starts to materialize as he walked toward the two. He was now in the full blown sorcerer attire that Dr. Strange wore. As he came to a stop he held his right hand out and the world around them morphed and turned into a battlefield that looked strangely familiar. Gun fire can be heard in the distance as a platoon of military police retreated in their direction. “Don’t worry they can neither see, hear or harm you. If you hadn’t noticed yet this is the boot camp where in, only a set amount of time in the future. Some time between now and fifteen years from now a recruit will cause a uprising to happen starting at this boot camp, this stunning action took the higher ups of the camp completely by surprise. in the distance a silhouetted figure attacked military personnel, super hero, and recruit alike. In his rampage other shadowed figures took up the fight with him driving the remaining heroes and loyal recruits back. Suddenly the scenery morphed and they were far above the USA and smoke seemed to billow from each state. “Within 48 hours of the fall of the Illinois base, sleeper cells this person had planted in the other boot camps across America awoke and ceased power at each camp forcing loyalist of the initial cause to flee.” Again the scenery shifted this time to a black room with no distinguishing features. Reno raised his left arm as three large white blocks appeared behind him. “This war will eventually lead to three powers throwing their name into the hat for the fate of the planet earth. The first of the squares flicker to life showing a shadowed man sitting in a large throne. “The first is the organization simple known as the Requiem, this is the former Super Human Registration Act and Initiative program. This organization quickly take the U.S. government over and conquers Mexico, South America and Canada. They drive the Loyalist across the ocean to Europe.” As Reno finished his sentence the second square lights up and Shows LaMorte in a Generals Uniform, Lilium in military garb and several other shadowed figures standing behind them. “This brings us to our second faction, the Rebels. You eventually take command LaMorte after Skyshatters death at the hands of the Requiem. Right Now I can’t tell you who all survives the initial uprising in Illinois, just know your inner core is comprised of friends from the boot camp. The final Square lights up showing a massive tower. “The final faction shows up early in the 26th Century, a conglomeration of the most powerful and influential men that the Requiem hadn’t gained power over or killed forms the Power Trust. They erect the Limitless Fortress and soon that area around Japan falls helplessly under their control. So Japan is my era is one of the few place that the Requiem dare not go. Alongside some Rebel strong holds in remote places. Reno’s left arm drops as the room again turns black as Reno’s form vanishes.

“Just a minute” The world that LaMorte and Lilium was in shatters around them reveling that they were back in the medical wing “did you two have a nice dream?” Reno ask as he pulls his hood back over his head. With a slight chuckle he began to turn away from them but paused and looked back “No one else knows what you know, as far as they are concerned you two were just standing there for 60 seconds no more no less, and before you ask I showed you that because history dictated that I showed you that.” Reno then finishes his turn and begins to walk away his steps being accented with a light tap from his walking stick.

'Oh, this is absolutely brilliant!' he chuckled. 'Another person from the future with a messiah complex and an urge to right wrongs from before their time. We've already got Cable!'
He pried Lilium off his arm, and stood up, still chuckling. 'Good to see you're OK, kid - you had them all worried'
He turned and walked out, pausing to let Skyshatter in.

Skyshatter frowned at Lilium. 'You know, I told Iron Man that it might not be a good idea to have a mutant on the team - he really should have directed you to the Xavier institute. But what's done is done - we can't send you there now. So we're bringing the institute to you - I've been in contact with the X-men and they're sending an advisor out to help you learn to control your powers. They should be here within the next couple of days. This is no excuse to be lazy though - tomorrow morning at 0900 we're running an unpowered obstacle course and some physical training, and I expect to see you there. Food's up in the cafeteria at 1800, if you're feeling better.'

Lilium sat in shock for a moment staring at the door where LaMorte left, and then glancing over Reno. She turned to Skyshatter and gulped, shakily she began to speak.
"I...uh...I.." she began, her voice croaky, "I'm sorry...I..." She looked Skyshatter straight in the eyes, trying to hold herself up straight and sound natural "I shall be there sir, th-thankyou...for the information...may I ask will the men who I hurt be ok?..."
Lilium felt a little nervous as she awaited a response.

"You're damn lucky they're gonna be OK" Skyshatter spoke as he too exited the room.

Lilium took a deep breath "damn" she muttered to herself, shakily she managed to stand up and stumble along the corridors, ignoring to her best ability the stares of the crowd that had gathered near the medical wing. She stopped for a moment to catch her breath and lent up against a wall near a small group of soldiers who were whispereing to each other and staring at Lilium. "um...ex-excuse m-me...where may I find..the...Cafeteria?"
The soldiers looked at each uther and not wanting to speak to her they shoved the smallest of the group towards Lilium, backing away slightly he spoke "Down the Hall, on the left....follow the signs"
Lilium nodded and proceeded to stumble to the cafeteria.

Meanwhile..

In the Chicago back streets, a group of thugs had cornered a woman, pressing her against a wall as one rifled through her purse, when suddenly a voice interrupted their work.
'On a gathering storm comes a tall handsome man, in a dusty black coat with a red right hand' the man striding down the alley sang to himself.

As one, the gang turned, one producing a switchblade from his pocket. 'Yo, man, you just got yourself in a whole shitload of trouble.' he said, throwing the woman to the floor and walking towards the figure.
Within a split second, he was flying backwards through the air, smashing into a wall with bone-shattering force. The other gangers looked from the corpse of their friend to the newcomer, and with a cry of rage charged him, snatching up weapons - lengths of wood, a pipe, whatever they could find as they ran towards him.
In seconds it was almost over. Mutilated bodies lay around the alley, and just one poor thug was left, backing away from the scene of carnage.
A pair of black-clad arms enfolded him, and his scream was paralyzed in his throat as the man leaned forwards to whisper in his ear. A flash of light escaped the thug's eyes and mouth, and became a wisp of smoke that the man in black inhaled.
Then he turned to the woman, cowering against the wall. 'Th...thank you' she choked through her sobs of relief. The man in black lifted her to her feet. 'What makes you think I saved you?'

His shoulder tensed, and he punched his fist through her ribs and out of her back. Letting the body drop to the floor, he picked up her discarded purse, and quickly looked through it, taking a few items and then throwing it aside. He turned away and began to walk out of the alley, a stack of green paper in his red right hand.

Euphilius had been marching for hours. The bright afternoon sun was beating down upon him like a thousand arrows. His clothes were moist and soaked from his sweat. The MPs who had been left to make sure he completed his march were alternating between shifts every two hours. Euphilius had never been so thirsty in his life however the MPs had seen fit to deprive him of this as further punishment.

Finally, exhausted he fell to the baking hot ground. "GET UP RECRUIT!" the MP screamed at him, "You're nothing but a washout, maggot!" Euphilius' urge to prove him wrong forced him shakily to his feet. It was then that a light bulb switched on in his head. He would work hard... and he'd regain his officer status... and then they would pay...

Watching Lilium stumble her way through the hall to the Cafeteria, Gina followed her and with no question asked, put Lilium's arm around her, giving her some support as she tried to walk. She smiled at Lilium.
"Please try not to worry too much. Let's get ourselves a little snack, I'm sure you'll feel a little better then."
Making their way to the Cafeteria, Gina picked up a tray, and without hesitation selected her drink and some of the food she wanted. She made her way to a seat in the cafeteria, and sat down, but purposely left a place for Lilium to sit down either beside her or in front of her.
With that done, she quietly began to eat the food she was given. She didn't really like it but still never the less, she needed something in her stomach for the day. She began to think a bit of home herself, wondering what other hardships aside from the training, she and the others would have to endure, such as the incident with Lilium or worse.
Shifting out of this track of mind, she simply decided to, just once every so now and then to keep an eye on Lilium from now on. Gina was sure she could use a bit of mental support.

Lilium was cautious about the help she recieved...no one really helps her...they just ignore her or flee, she wasn't used to someone being near.
"T-thank you" she mangaed to mumble as Gina and she walked towards the canteen.
Watching Gina pick up her tray and food, Lilium followed suit, avoiding eye contact as much as possible.
Lilium picked up a red apple, a bottle of water and as she moved to where food was being served to er she gently shook her head, "Do you have any more apples?" she asked, and was promply handed another two with a small look of annoyance from the canteen staff. "Thankyou" Lilium again avoiding eye contact managed to say.
She slowly walked towards Gina and sat infront of her, silently she began to bite the first of her apples.
Without lookin up as she was staring at the plate of food infront of her, she spoke to Gina,
"I guess you think I'm a freak...Like everyone else"....she paused and took a swig of her water.

Gina stared at Lilium and raised one of her eyebrows at her. She extended her arm and reached for her drink, and took a quick sip and puts it back down. "Yeah... well I mean, if you are a freak, then all of us here are just as equal. Try not to think about it too much."
Still though, never the less, she had a point. Gina found it kind of freaky to have these kind of powers, hers being totally different from anyone elses on the team.
Lilium took another bite from her apple and keeping her eyes focused down towards her plate she continued to speak, "Mutant...."
She sighed a little, the tattoo on her face slowly diminishing in size as she was beginning to rest, "It scares a lot of people..."
Gina decided to approach Lilium realistically, as she decided this was the best for her own mental well-being. "It scares, but it will save many people. Being a freak can have it's good sides after all." She gave a cheerful smile to Lilium, in a hope to also lighten her mood up a bit in spite of the incident she has been through. She decided to change the subject. "What do you think of everyone so far? Especially that LaMorte guy?"
Lilium was munching away at her apple, and moving onto her second one, catching a glimpse of Gina's smile as she took the first bite. "Everyone" she spoke through a mouth full of apple, trying to avoid reacting in an obvious manner to the mention of LaMorte's name. She swallowed her apple, "Well...I don't know...I haven't really met them I suppose...So I don't really have much of an opinion, but I bet they have an opinion of me" she continued to eat trying to avoid the 'LaMorte subject. Who the hell is he?...what is going on and why did she feel kinda safe around him? Were just a few of Lilium's thoughts that she tried to ignore, continuing to drink and eat.
Gina thought to herself for a moment. "My... she's sure taking it out on herself a lot..."

As though summoned by the mention of his name, LaMorte appeared carrying a thermos flask
'Hope you two don't mind me sitting here - we freaks should stick together' he said with a wink, before unscrewing the flask's cap and pouring a thick red liquid into the cup.
He looked up and noticed the horrified looks on the faces of the two women. 'What? It's tomato soup!'

Lilium jumped at the sudden appearance of LaMorte, dropping her final half eaten apple in the process Lilium began to stare at Lamorte sat drinking this liquid, of which she was relieved to find was soup.
"L..LaMorte?...uh...um..hello" Her eyes darted back down towards her apple as she began to blush and feel most uncomfortable. Her tatto now shifting shape again to a small tribal heart, the usual shape when Lilium is embarassed.
Realising this she quickly covered the tattoo with her hair and awkwardly picked her apple up taking another bite.
"How are you?" she managed to ask without sounding too shy.

Kaleida lined up to the cafeteria and picked her food. Correction: she piled up on food. A too-rapid metabolism only suppressed by drugs meant that she had to eat excessive amounts of food, and Kaleida had taken almost a whole pound of food, much to the displeasure of the cafeteria people.
The drugs took care of the weight problems.

As she was about to leave the line, a nurse from the Infirmary approached her and tapped her on the shoulder. She walked to a table (within listening distance of LaMorte's, which was still considerably far) and left her plate of food, turning around to face the nurse.
"What is it?"
"It's your lucky day." The nurse showed her a syringe, and Kaleida sighed.
"Do we really have to do this now?"
"Technically you were meant to recieve the booster dose yesterday. Once every five years, remember?"
"Ahhhhh." Kaleida sat down. "Well, make it quick. I'm actually really really hungry."

The nurse pulled down the back of her collar and removed a small rubber patch at the base of the neck. At the lump of the base of the neck was a small rubber tube with a hole. The nurse checked the syringe, and then slowly inserted it into the base of the neck through the rubber.
Kaleida fought the urge not to scream. The pain was burning and intense, the pain burning through practically every single point in her body. The needle was disturbingly long. Her pupils dilated, and her head swam.

As the nurse finished, she swabbed the area and placed a fresh rubber stamp on the tube. "Done."
"I'll never get used to it." Kaleida shook her head. "Can you believe that? Twenty-eight goddamn years, and it still hurts like the first day."
"Yeah, well, that's the nervous system for ya. Enjoy your lunch."
As the nurse walked away, Kaleida wiped the sweat off her face and tore into the pile of food like there was no tomorrow.

Gina turned her head in surprise to see LaMorte right beside Lilium and herself. She found it slightly disturbing how LaMorte interrupted the private conversation she was having with Lilium, and found it even more disturbing how he poured himself a cup-full of a certain reddish liquid which looked a little bit like blood. It didn't help how LaMorte was a vampire either. But she felt more relieved when he said it was only tomato soup.
Gina looked at Lilium for a moment to see that she seemed to be quite content having him at the table. She decided to make some conversation with LaMorte after he made himself comfortable at the table. She spoke, beginning with a joking tone in her voice: "So since we're all a bunch of freaks here, how about we all properly introduce ourselves, since we actually have some proper time to do so now..."
Gina always followed a certain etiquette of manners, since she did come from a rather filthy rich family, and decided to introduce herself first.
"My name is Gina Adams... but you can just call me Gina. Some of my pastimes and hobbies are literature, and I also like music, just a bit here and there... how about yourself, LaMorte?" Obviously aware of the fact that Lilium was curious about LaMorte, Gina gestured the question to him first on purpose.

LaMorte grinned at Gina.
'For a trainee superhero, you're not doing very well at concealing your secret identity, are you? We're code-name-only, remember? The only ones of us that doesn't apply to are those who don't have a secret identity - or those of us who can't remember our real names. So let's start again, shall we?'
He stretched, then continued. 'My name isn't LaMorte. My title is LaMorte. It means 'the dead', and for very good reason. I've used it since my death, and that was so long ago that I don't even remember the name I was born with. My given name is Julian, and you can call me that if you're feeling inform
