RP Suggestions

It was suggested to me to ask here, since I was planning to start an RP here to boost activity in that section.


Now, for those of you interested in RPing, what kind of RP would you like to have here? A majority of you are in Europe, which means that there is a pretty large time difference. That would present a few problems if I were to make a story-based RP, seeing how we'd all need to be on for any real activity to take place.

The type of RP that would have the most success here, in my opinion, would be a Town RP, since mine rarely have a story, and that would allow most of you to RP even with the time differences.


All in all, I'd like to know what you all would like me to make. However, this is only for those interested, so if you don't like RPing, please don't come and start anything.

i don't see a problem with a real rp, will just have to wait a day or a few hours for the next post....anyway about a kind of rp..How about each person has control of their own kind of element like fire, wind, earth or the more fantastical term of mencer...like pyromencer aquamencer etc...we could also have an rp topic that has to do with dragon rider...each person has a dragon and we live in this huge place where we train our abilities and at times monsters rade us...etc..and there is ranks like a millitary..

I'm tempted to make an RP as a follow-on from my (tragically failed) Initiative game, following the group of heroes after they've left training and struck out on their own. The problem I have is that people just suddenly stop posting in my games ¬_¬
I actually haven't seen half of my players at all since their last posts, so I'm assuming that they left the forum, and that the other half are just bloody lazy.

Er, Genesis, by what type, I mean under what classification:


Freeform (Adventure)- usually story-based RP that explores most of (if not the whole) area/world that the story revolves around

Town- these are for character development, if there is any real story, unless this leads to some sort of freeform later on; these are the easiest for random RPing and just fun

Military-. . . well, I don't make militaries, so no need to explain here XD


Another factor is what era, as in, medieval, modern, future, or some strange mixture.


Also, Tharrick, I'd like to discuss that PE-based RP idea you had, do you have MSN?

oh...i like the midevil fantasy era with the futuristic twist like WoW with its guns..but with no magic.....magic just gives to much of an advantage...freeform is my favirote kind of TRPG with a bit of growing up in it, like in fable you know.....well other then that i think its all covered...i might add my MSN later on so if there is any ideas we could talk about...other then that i think i covered everything:)

Ah, yes, this is what I was looking for, thanks, Genesis ^^ As for magic, though, don't worry, I've gone through steps in past RPs to put a type of limiter on strength of magic, or put it in a type of "rock-paper-scissors" style system, so magic won't be a problem.

do a story rp time difference usually doesnt mean shit on hhn all that happens is the couple of non euro members have to make a post that raps it up nicely with no questions needed and seeing as im one of the few who is not euro i dont really care since i like typing long rp post i hate it when i can only make like a one sentence rp post then drag it out with useless bullshit.

Ah, kaykay, thanks, keiskay, for that information. From what I'm getting, you all would rather a story-based RP, which is one of my favorites to work with anyway.

This thread still isn't done yet, though. I'll leave it here for a few more days, to see how many more are interested for the start.

I remember that i used to play on a TROG that was story based...it was called Ismene and was preety fun but then people stoped to post and the forum became a huge porn place and junk...but story rpgs are by far the best

Yeah, about the story-based though. I can make Towns or Freeforms, but I love when I get to take the time and make a story-based Freeform, since I can sculpt the world to my liking, then set a system in for magic and all other such.

After I get a bit more feedback, I'll probably start working on rough drafts and theses of the basics, then cut it down to something simpler for all to understand. All in all, it can be fast or slow, depending on how new the work will be for me.

why not make a new board for the rp...with different area and towns that people can go to by clicking the topic...it will allow a much greater expansion for a story rpg


and then when you done with the set up you can post the link here probably...but the new forum will take more time to create....either way is good though!

Do you mean a sub-forum here? If so, then there is a chance of that, but that depends on how large the RP becomes. Only twice have RPs of mine reached that level of size, and both times they had a fairly large fanbase.


Now, if this RP got a massive amount of activity and a lot of members into it, then, trust me, I would ask Zidane for his permission to have a sub-forum for it, but we'll see if it gets that big. Thanks, though, for that input as well.

IMO, we should be given random characters witch all have their own powers already, no ones done this, plus it would give us variety...
But I don't know XD

I've tried that. It leads to anger and confusion. One of the attractions to an RP is that you can create your own character (within limits).

The method I usually use to get around this is that all characters require approval from the RP starter before they can be used.

I don't know why but i think we should try out something new, which could attract alot of members, even RPers...

As Tharrick said, that entire idea for RPing is. . . pretty much a hypocritical thing, Shad. The entire thing that got me into RPing was the freedom you have in creating a character with a specific set of abilities, likes, and all other such.

Then the other people are the kind of people I wouldn't want in any RP of my devising anyway - all of the people I've ever had riled at the fact that I've not approved their character have all been god-modding bastards anyway, and the games are better off without them :P

conflict...i think the idea of brining in already made characters will really hurt any text based rpg. This kind of rpgs are ment for players to creat their own unique people for the rpg within the limits of the rules like tharick said....i also tried joining an rpg with already made characters and the rpg died in a week or so because all the characters were awufully made and gave no freedom to the player....
