View Full Version : Xbox 360 vs PS3 vs Nintendo Revolution
The three "next-generation" consoles. Each another better version of it's previous console, another battle like the last one which was the Xbox vs PS2 vs GameCube. Haha, should be amusing, i'm sure many will go for the PS3, no doubt. People will stick to what they are used to and stuff, I suppose.
If I would get one, I would have to get the Xbox 360, not just because I already have an Xbox, but for a few reasons. Firstly I like the way the Xbox 360 looks compared to the PS3, definately alot better, and the controller looks better top (way better, you have to admit. The boomerang thing is just... so off for the PS3). The Revolution just looks plain, so can't really compare it's looks to the other two.
I like a couple of features on the Xbox 360, the wireless controllers (though you have to recharge, it's not like I play that long for the batteries to run out anyway, plus you can recharge while you play, I think), the new Xbox Live, which let's you play on Xbox Live for free, only difference is that Premium members get some more extra features, but hey as long as I get to play online that's all I care about.
It's Specs. i'm not too sure about, it appears as though the PS3 has more better specs. but I don't even understand half of them anyway except a few, but Xbox 360 has some nicer things, I think, xP.
And the price..... I think the Xbox 360 is cheaper? Not sure, but either way, not like i'll get to buy it anyway, it'll be expensive at first, even if cheaper than than the PS3.
Oh and couple of games I want on Xbox 360, more than on PS3, and probably most of the games I want will be those ones released on all three consoles, xP. The main reason I don't want the Rev. is cause there are games i'd like to have and play, but not badly want compared to other games.

I don't think there's much difference in the consoles to be honest. The technology is sufficient on all three of them to put out some majorly impressive games (which, after all, is what we as gamers should care about! None of this console fanboy stuff) The question is, which console will be easiest to make games on? Which console will games designers choose to put their top-notch high-spec games on?
If I were to hazard a guess, games design on the xbox360 would be far easier than the ps3. The ps3 has an entirely new architecture with their multithreaded cell chip. I think this will make it more difficult for games designers to produce on. The xbox360 on the other hand, made by microsoft, based on traditional architecture, and already has the standards for creating games with its existing technologies (such as directx, .net, etc.)
I think I'm just going to wait and see what comes out and performs how, before I go and buy one for myself. Besides, by then, I'll be a poor student :(

well I heard that the downfall of Xbox 360 is that it does NNOOTT have backwards compatability. Apparently it will NOT play Xbox games, only XBOX 360 gamnes. Which is a MAJOR downfall for people who never had the first Xbox and an inconvenience for those who don't have a million slots for game systems in their TVs. Based on that alone I wouldn't buy it. Playstation has always had the best game selection, Maybe Equal to Nintindo. Nintindo and Playstation (Square-enix and the like) Have always domnated on games because they were around much longer than Xbox and already had good reps.
Nintendo is the best about backwards compatability, but Unles the game plas (or through attachments has the ability to play) Snes, GB, GBC, GBA and N64 games (Along with Game cube) I won't wast my time on it, I've grown to expect a lot from nintendo lately.
PSX3 has been planned out for a long time, I saw pictures of a possible console back in 2003, If it's still what it looked liek in the mag, yeah it's ugly. But I'm expecting some majorly awsome things from it. Unfortunatly game systems usually have a 10+ lifespan if theyre good (10+ years of Game Production I mean) So I think they'll still be making PS2 etc. games for a while. They still produced PSX games 3 years after PS2 came out, N64 stopped shortly after game cube. That kind of shows you the staying power of PS games,
I think Playstation will do best out of the three for Gameplay.
Xbox will beat out on graphics and system specs.
Nintendo will Dominate on game selection.
But that is just what I think.
^ You right about Playstation and Nintendo dominating on games, cause yeah they gained good reps and when Xbox came out, no one knew much about games and what they were going to be like and it's only been a few years for them. And some people don't want to try new things, such as trying out the Xbox games (Yeah, they only have a few, but then again the PS3 only has a few I like, most of the games I play are the ones that are on all three, but... I think there may be a few more games on PS3? I dunno..).
Yeah, Xbox 360 will have the best graphics and some other system specs.
But PS3 also has some system specs. better than the 360.
Nintendo, I don't know. Maybe, just depends on your taste, I only like a few Nintedo games and probably several which I wouldn't mind playing.
Well heres the thing. One, I'm getting all three eventually so I don't have to choose. Two, the Nintendo Rev. WILL, no matter what was printed in a few magazines, feature downloadable games for free. Meaning a big database of SNES, NES, N64 games at your disposal! And it'll also feature free online connection. A member of Nintendo told the magazines that this rumor is not true, but Nintendo's president was ticked at him doing so and announced that it will be free. So, thats a big plus. Not to mention Revolution is a game console, nothing more...Something that alot of game design companies like. Nintendo has alot of teams on his side.
Graphic wise PS3 has the other two beat, it looks phenominal...Anyone see that FF7 tech demo! OMG!!

^ True, though they haven't annouced Halo 3 (or have they? I don't know), it's pretty obvious from the Halo 2 ending that there's going to be =/ And Xbox 360 is going to have to have Xbox Live for free, but you can also pay for it if you want to get the "Preminum Service" which is better in several ways, but normal free version you can still play and evrything and all that stuff, but you don't get to experience a few of the newer Xbox Live features I think.

I'm grabbing the X-Box 360 pretty much as soon as it comes out. Christmas present or Birthday gift. Then I'm going to pick up a PS3 with tax returns! :) Revolution will shortly follow because I just need all three...I'm really weird like that.

I see. Well maybe they've been working on Halo 3 near the end of making Halo 2? I dunno, xP. But yeah I found out they officially annouced the makings of Halo 3 off my friends earlier today =/ Yeah that sucks, but when you say sometime next year, it could be any time or did they say like early 2006, late 2006, etc? Hm no matter what though im probably gonna end up buying the PS3 mainly because I've always been loyale to Sony... BUT if Final Fantasy is gonna be on a different console then I'll probably be swayed to buying that console instead....

Whats the point in getting a console for ONE game?
Personally, design ways XBOX is gonna beat PS3, because the new controllers are ugly...and look so ugly...I am gonna hate to play games with controllers that big and spacious *shudders*

Yeah, true the controllers are hideous, but in due time new ones will come out from third party companies that will look better. :p
I read something on IGN about a Sony press conference, and the PS3 might even go beyond the price of $399 USD. :o
I've still not seen the Revolution controllers. Has anyone actually seen them?

It ain't initially for one game as you say Ayame. I just dunno. I play a lot of games, just Playstation has always had the best ones for me, in my opinion. Before Sony, Nintendo is how I went, and Sega and so on.
I've heard that the PS3 is around 15 times more powerful than the new Nintendo console, I don't know if that's true. Personally I think Nintendo fell off HARD after the N64, so I'm not following Nintendo anymore. The XBOX 360 is tempting but the PS3 in some ways is more powerful than the XBOX, and the PS3 has more big named titles confirmed. Personally I think the PS3 is easily the best choice here, although Halo 3 is extremely tempting, the new GTA for PS3 is something big to me.

Multiplayer it just erases all competition, but single player it's easily kicked around by Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Multiplayer now, that's entertainment. But the fact it's already been through two releases and they're bringing out Multiplayer maps for the second one ALL the time, I don't think there's much to bother about Halo 3, unless the graphics really are all you're after...or extra weapons and features. Halo 2 had all the features, graphics and weapons I wanted though, and hell...you're likely to be able to download anything you want later eventually anyway.
^ it'll come out for PC anyways :P

Final Fantasy VII remake? Craig told me that was simply a teaser for E3. Ah Craig also spends his time with his head stuck in his PS2...ah well. The new Tekken looks great. Nina Williams looks as gorgeous as ever. And that Brazilian chick...if she was real, that would be classic lol.
like I said it's unconfirmed but still it's a big possibility after the E3 reception....how do I know all of this??? The old me coming back :D

I'd like to see it re-made. I've completed it numerous times but to see those particular characters in better graphics would make me go for the PS3 guarenteed. I loved FFVII, I'm sure alot of us here did and people would agree with me.
seriously the PS3 is going to end the console wars, I doubt Nintendo will continue after and I feel Microsoft might give up

Nah, I'd like Nintendo to continue. If it wasn't for Nintendo, I'd have probably never started with consoles. At least take Microsoft out of the picture. Until they came along, Nintendo didn't really have competition to worry about due to the fact the Playstation pretty much was the only console worthy of doing anything. Then we have the Xbox. Now usually, after Nintendo would release a new console, they'd only have Sony to worry about, but then Microsoft aswell? No wonder people consider Nintendo to be falling.
Same here, I used to LOVE Nintendo, it raised me with gaming. Back in the NES/SNES games, but I just feel now they have fell off BADLY.

It's not really a case of falling. It's just if Microsoft weren't such greedy twats, we'd have nothing to worry about. If making computers what they are didn't reel enough money in as it was.
Ps3 was revealed at E3. It was the most visited attraction at the expo. It will rule the world!
SNES was my first console <3 I think... I forget what game I played it on first... some game or the other. But I only get the Xbox cause I like some games on it, and majority of games I end up getting are games on all three consoles, so might aswell look for other features besides games =/ And plus it's controller is way better than the PS3 one (seriously, what is up with the "boomerang" design... Sides are way too long) and it's design and look is better (both controller & console). PS3 is nice and shiny =D but it looks like a scanner or some other weird thing.
I'm only getting Halo 3 cause I wanna see the rest of the story + extra features (It's like Halo + more features + more features, AGAIN!) and I love FPS games so yeah, and I feel like playing Halo again, only without repeating the story over and over :P xD. And there's also Fable 2... and maybe try out some other game. Oh well, why should we care what's more popular when really it's what you like, xD. Cause many reasons... xP.
Il stick with PS3 cause it has a better confirmed title range, and Halo comes out for the PC anyway.
^ Yeah, when the first Halo said "XBOX ONLY" I was like, hmmm... another reason to choose Xbox over PS2 (Hey, wasn't much of a FF fan back then either, xD, more so your "general gamer") since yeah I loved FPS back then (still do, but maybe more back then, since RPG's are also kinda favourites) and then a year or so later I find out it comes out on PC (And I can actually play online there, xD).
I'll just get it on both, xD. Well if I get a 360 that is.

I used to play WoW, on a long-ass break until I get more time and a better computer (one that can keep up with the standards of the game, one that can run decently, not just "average - crap", xD). But yeah Level 31 (Night Elf Hunter) and Level 21 (I think, maybe 19, not sure or 22... xP Orc Rogue). I level slowly as you see :P I like to do "other things" :rolleyes: *coughdanceoncaravanrooftopscough* (Westfall is a particular favourite). I wonder how my old guild is going, kinda died down recently before I left, probably all gone or something o.o

Microsoft doesnt make televisions but Sony does, and sony makes game consoles to....ALL companies ARE greedy, Sony could do what Microsoft does an probably would if they had the budget

Nintendo is just out there, while Microsoft and Sony bash each others head trying to prove which is better. I could care less, as long as they don't cancel out any of the systems. That's why console fanboys or fangirls get annoying, because they whine and cry about their system. I just plan to get all of them, not at the same time, but one by one. I'm very well sure that they are other like me who plan to do that same thing.
When the XBOX came out, some Gamecube fantic said that the XBOX was a demonic conspiracy and produced an image that the XBOX was held by a demon silhouette and Luigi there being tormented. Honestly, that's stupid. People do go overboard these days.
About the greediness of every company, it's not exactly about greediness, it's about business. Every company wants to have the best thing, they want money and they use that money to achieve the best. The better they sell, the longer they will last and stuff.
^ So true, xP. My friend doesn't really have a favourite, well I don't think so, he just gets all three and plays whatever game he likes on it (and the ones which are on all three.. I dunno, probably gets it on PS2 or Xbox)... Then again, he's a rich bastard >.> xD.

Obviously companies are greedy, they want money, that's the point in the first place, a group of people to earn money pretty much =/ Only they're big massive groups that wanna earn big massive amounts of money, xP.

With it being wireless I STILL don't want to see it. It's gonna need a lot of batteries. And I still think Microsoft are incredibly greedy bastards but I won't complain about what was said about Sony. Only Nintendo are a true games company really. All they do is create games and consoles, nothing else. As with Sega, but Sega have faded and so will Nintendo with those frigging wireless handsets.

yea but the nintendo console is
a) Aimed at the cast behind the CBBC
b) got a budget of 10 pence and a marks and spencer voucher
c) about as powerful as Billy Joel in a fight

That's one of the biggest things I hate about Anime games, alot of them are released on Nintendo, not all, some are also on PS2 and some big ones on all three (don't think any or on Xbox Only, but then again, alot of animes, xP).

Nintendo truely RULED back in those days, don't want to now how many games where on that console... however... (dark music...) nintendo missed where sony made theire big hit... a 32-bit console (PS1)... nintendo went directly to making the 64-bit console(N64), and in the meanwhile the had to play on a 16-bit console(SNES).... however it took that long there was a big oppurtunity for the PS1 to erupt and settle... and since then nintendo only RULES on the handheld market...

I'm not sure which console the next Resident Evil game will be on but I've always wanted to try Dino Crisis 3 for the Xbox therefore it's hard to choose which new console I'll purchase. Nintendo make pretty good games too. It's not fair to brand them as a children's company.
