I'm gonna post a lot of my own and I want you to post yours too. Like a sort of Archive of FF9 Advice, Boss methods etc. Please don't reply on how good things are etc. If there's an Error I'd like to be PM (Or PM the poster so they can fix it) I mainly just want this to be an archive of ff9 help that we con look through when we need radnom hints or help with the game.

So here goes:

Suggestions #1: Reccomended Party Combos
(Zidane will not be heavily discussed because he's always in your party. But I'l give you 2 suggestions for him:
1. Steal a shitload and use theivory for max damage.
2. Equip High tide, choco-quest for good weapons and let'er rip.)

Zidane, Garnet, Steiner and Vivi
^ The good old fashion team. Very usefull for full on attacking. Garnet can use her powerfull Elemental summons(Which are comperable to Vivi's Black Magic) To damage and still be able to heal. Steiner can use Magic sword when he encounters a strong enemy with an elemental weakness. Dagger's reflect null and Vivi's Reflectx2 will work good together.

Zidane, Eiko, Vivi and Steiner
Same as above, BUT Eiko's Carbunkle Summon and Vivi's Reflectx2 will work Wonderfully together. Also Eiko's summon phoenix will come in handy if you die and Holy and Madeen will work wonders against the demons of memoria.

Zidane, Quina, Vivi and Eiko
Use Vivi and Eiko to reflect and cast for great black magiv damage. Use Quina for Healing with Angel's Snack, Auto-life, Mighty Guard and White wind. Leveling up Frog Drop isn't a bad idea either. Eiko shouldn't heal too much, she should be busy casting Holy, Madeen or Phoenix when needed.

Zidane, Eiko, Quina, Freya (Optionaly Amarant instead of Freya)
Eiko's Healing magic and holy spell come into play. As a white mage her magic far surpasses that of Dagger's. Quina has some good support Abilities and Status causing abilities for the enemy like Amarant who has Good attack and Great supporting abilities, Or freya, Who can restore the Parties MP on Magical Monsters and Make use of Dragon crest.

Zidane, Steiner, Amarant and Quina.
Have everyone Attack and/or Use powerfull skills (Shock, Climhazard, Theivory, No mercy, Doomsday Sword, Flare sword, Frog Drop) And Use Quina as the primary Healer/Supporter. In a fix Amarant and Quina can cast auto life and they both have HP restoring moves. Amarant can even revive, You see you don't NEED white mages for everything. After all, they're defence and attack are horrible.

Now, those are some of the particularly best methods and combos I think.

But the followinf combinations are VERY bad, Avoid them:

Zidane, Eiko, Dagger and Anyone else.
2 white mages could equal good healing and powerfull eidelons. It also means two very defensless characters who could easily succomb to a powerfull physical attack.

Zidain, Freya, Amarant and Steiner

Don't get me wrong, During the Oilvert Conflict this IS the party you should definitly use for oilvert. . . But once you get into the really stong monsters of Memoria it proves to be fatal, Because none of these characters can do out of battle moves for healing and teh only one with direct healing is Amarant. IF he goes down you better pray that Regen's gonna work out nicely because sometimes you can't affored to use a phoenix down.

Tip #2:Oilvert and Desert Palace TIPS (Not a walkthrough)

Hopefully by this part in the game you've discovered the usefullness of Quina's Level 5 Death and have Leveled up everyone with Grand dragons at least so that they're fairly equal. I know it's hard to keep 8 characters at similar levels but when you have to seperate like this it's vital. (Grand dragons can be found on the beach near chocobo lagoon on disc 3)

For your Oilvert party you'll want to pick Zidane, Amarant, Freya and Stiener. Amarant will chakra and throw while Freya will attack or white draw when MP gets low. Steiner and Zidane should just attack unless you run into trouble, not that stiener will know any great moves at this point in th egame. During the battle with ark You should constantly jump with freya and attack with teh other three. Cast Reises wind at first and you should be good. If you were smart and have leveled up your chocobo to at least mountain chocobo, Freya's Final weapon and Amarants 3rd most powerfull weapon can be found in cracks on this continet, use a dead pepper. Doing this makes this level so much easier.

As for desert palace, it doesn't matter what any of your characters know, as long as quina is -at an acceptable level, Why you ask? Because Quina should have level 5 death (Learn from Stroper or Dragonzombie at Lifa Tree). And guess what, Every single Enemy in Desert palace (Save the boss) Is at level 30, Which happens to be divisible by 5. :D So giving quina running shoes and auto-haste isn't a bad idea. Use this to your advantage, and when you get the good Bloodstone items Learn their Moves (Mainly Water you get from the N-Kai armlet for Vivi) Before you go to the boss. Why? Because as good as these items are, Wearing them during the boss battle will cause the boss to raise its stats!

Tip #3:HP Reducing moves and some Quina Info
There are 3 moves in the game that will remove set amounts of HP from the enemy and cannot be resisted, deflected or guarded against; But they rely on you to do something to power them up:
• = Times, / = Devided by, + = Plus, - = Minus.
Skill-------Charator--MP--Damage Formula-------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Theivery - Zidane - 8MP - Damage = #of succesful steals • ½ of his Speed.

Frog Drop - Quina - 10MP* - Damage = # of frogs caught • her/his Level.

Dragon Crest - Freya - 16MP - Damage = #of Dragons Killed²

*5MP With the "Half MP" Skill

And as you can see they all have the potential of doing 9999 for little mp if you work hard.

Those aren't the only skills that are set. For instance:

•1000 Needles (Blue Magic) Will ALWAYS do 1000 Damage.

•White Wind (Blue Magic) The HP Healed is Relative to Quina's Level and the Amount healed won't go down if Quina's Brain is absorbed or if S/he is Mini.

QUINA (Or in my games, Cheeto)
Quina is one of the best characters in the game. Her Attack and Magic Defence are not always as they say they are. Randomly Quina will attack with more damage than Zidane, Or survive a Coment from a level 72 Yan, only taking 300 or so damage. Quina also has great magic. She can use 4 remedies on the whole party at once, Do a constant 1000 Dmg, Heal the whole party, Cast Auto-Life, Cause severe bad statuses to the enemy, Reduce the enemies MP Drastically, and she's the only one who can belt out Earth and Wind magic (Besides the summon Finrir).

Unfortinatly her Trance is practically useless unless you're trying to learn a new move from a strong monster. You can't eat Bosses but that's why her weapons all teach High Tide. She's meant to get into trance a lot.

I have SOOOOO Much more to post but I'm so tired right now. Maybe leter. Those aren't some of my better tips but I did write a lot, Forgive the spelling errors please.

Alo Quina can actually do 9999 damage everytime using frog drop. You just need to collect a lot of frogs from the swamps.

Here are my tips for each part (till where I am - I haven't actually finished the game yet).

-- DISC 1 --
-In the Evil Forest, train Zidane a few levels (at least 3, but 5 is suggested) before moving on to Steiner. This is probably a good idea because if you don't train, your characters will lose easily.

-In Village of Dali, after defeating the second Black Waltz, Zidane will ask if you want to board on the ship to Lindblum immidiately or rest in the inn first. Choose to rest in the inn. Then you should train instead of immidiately boarding the ship. Train to at least level 10 or 12 (recommended). After some tough and long training, board the ship, and the third Black Waltz will be gone in no time.

-If you're at the part where you should head to Burmecia, and you're probably near or in Lindblum's Dragons Gate, buy LOTS of Potions and Pheonix Downs (if possible, try stealing some). Because if you run out of items, you'll find yourself in trouble.

-- DISC 2 --
-In Fossil Roo, there is an excavation site that will allow you to excavate for one Potion (this is probably the part when Kuppo hides himself). Dig lots of times and sell Ore if you want. But there's a secret in that map. You can see that there's a cracked wall at the other side of the entrance. Dig it a few times and you'll find Kuppo falling out from a falling wall. You may want to save and rest here. Anyways, you should keep digging until you find yourself full of items and probably full of ores.

-In the Iifa Tree, you'll encounter a boss that makes the mist. Even though it's a tree, DO NOT USE FIRE ON IT (if you do, it'll counter with a fire attack that hurts all party members). Use Blizzara or Thundara instead. And don't forget to use Eiko and the princess (Dagger) to heal.

-- DISC 3 --
-There's a part when you get captured by Kuja in the desert east of Outer Continent by quicksands. Choose strong party members (probably not Dagger because she lost her voice :p) because a tough boss awaits in Oeilvert. Speaking of that, enable a support skill that prevents Confusion, otherwise, you'll end up hitting yourself :p

-After obtaining the Gulug Stone and controlling the other four members, train them till at least level 32 (average) or more. Another tough boss awaits as well from them. Buy plenty more items (especially Hi-Potion) with the moogle east of where the members were captured.

-In Esto Gaza (before entering Mount Gulug) buy at least 4 or more Vaccine in the Item Shop in the room east of where the bishop is. A boss ahead will use an attack that will cause virus to all party members, and Vaccine cures Virus.

-- Other --
-None.

I probably ran out of ideas but I'll try to edit and add some more sometime later.

On Disc 1 in Dali you find that you need the Major's Key for opening the door at the back of the windmill.
This can't be done at the time.
On Disc 3 however, you WILL get the opportunity.
If you really wanna know how you can get it, read on!

When in Treno you can do a cardgame tournament.
BEFORE you start the card game, go back to Dali.
If you start the cardgame, your chance is wasted.
(Just leave Treno, head for the South Gate and go left to Dali)
When you go into the Major's House Zidane will notice the Mayor is not there.
Only his son is half asleep on the couch.
You can search the room now.
At the desk you'll find a Mini-Brahne.
Now click the 'desk' option 2 times more to make sure the son is sleeping.
Now you can search the heater and find the Key you need.

Now I won't spoil what's behind the door, but I'm sure you'll like it

the magic spell doomsday damages your party as well as the enemy so instead of casting the spell doomsday use the command doomsday sword on the enemy and it will not damage your party it will just damage the enemy.
