Best music?

Which of the following Final Fantasy games had the best music?

I loved FF7's music soundtrack, but also FF10 and FF8 has some great music.

I like all of them really - I imagine thats part of the reason why I like FF so much, the music choice for different parts in the game is very good (IMO at leas) I particularely liked the instrumental pieces used in FFX and the "Songs with words" (for lack of better description) out of FFVIII, FFX and FFX-2.
(FFXI also has very nice music)

I think every soundtrack but the FFTA one was great. However, my personal favourites are those of FFX and FFVIII (which also happen to be my 2 favourite games in the series, heh :D). Fantastic music.

FF7, specifically the arrangement: 'Interrupted by Fireworks' is a particular favourite of mine. The Black Mages remake of some of the songs sound great. FFXI has some good music, the only dissapointment was FFX-2, where Square-Enix decided to leave out Nobuo Uematsu and replace him, which is why it just wasn't the same.

I'm a big fan of Nobuo Uematsu's work.

I love the music in FFX and FFVII, but mostly FFX. The music is a third of the reason I play Final fantasy. They all have great music.

Final Fantasy X's music sounds a bot more orchastrated than the other installments of FF. I really like "Challenge", "Someday The Dream Will End", "Otherworld", "Seymour Battle", and "Normal Battle".

But I tie those with the music of Final Fantasy VII, such as: "One Winged Angel", "Crazy Motorcylce", "Fighting", "Still More Fighting", "JENOVA Absolute", and there's more.

Nobuo Uematsu and The Black Mages are da BOMB, yo.

Well I had a hard time choosing between VIII and IX because I REALLY loved the music of FF8, But I'm playing Nine now and Nine's Music is so transic and relaxing. It's Prettier than 8's I think. So I voted 9.

Nobuo didnt do X-2 because he was working on XI. But I love his music, most of my ipod is devited to his stuff!!!! FFVII music was good, but nothing (except maybe the revamped AC OST) beats FFVIII. THe complexity, the themes....pure genius!!! Eyes on Me was fantastic, and The Landing, The Extreme, Liberi Fatali and (for me anyway) The Stage is Set, were all brillaint.

Its a shame he won't return for FFXII, but at least they got someone good for XII. Long live Nobuo Uematsu!

X-2 has two decent tracks. That's it. For those that don't know what they are, they're 1000 Words and Real Emotion.

In my opinion, they've all (except X-2) got amazing music, but FFVII tops it for having the most decent tracks. J-E-N-O-V-A, One Winged Angel, Cid's Theme, Cosmo Canyon... the list goes on for ages.

Eyes on ME ruled..yeah. Lyrics were genius. Loved the version at the end. So SO good. I thought the FFIX music was good, but it overused the same themes for me.

FFVII by far... J-E-N-O-V-A, One winged angel, Crazy Motorcycle, Those Who fight, Aeris' theme, They're all fantastic... and the AC versions of J-E-N-O-V-A and OWA are absolutely mind blowing!

I adored the orchestral pieces in FFX, the piano piece at the start - return to zanarkand, has to be one of my favourite little bits of music evar xD

Although I voted FFVII, I'd like to point out it's pretty damn close.

FFVIII has The Landing (which I'm listening to at the moment), which is one of my favourite pieces of composed music ever.

It may have been midi-ish but it still rocked, really good tunes in that game like Aerith's theme ...

I couldn't stand X-2. It was really techno-y and didnt have any of the themes we love so much. And it missused alot of the music. I mean, right near the end, its all serios gettin ready for a big big battle, and the happy-go-lucky moogle-y music starts playing. I think FFX-2 lost all credibility when they did that!

I mean, compare it to similar situations in FFVII, VIII or IX. VII had Judgement Day (Really creepy and a "This is it, almost there, life or death" feel about it.) VIII had The Castle (Which was also pretty creepy and dramatic.) and IX had Crystal World (just creepy!)

I think the absence of Nobou really screwed up FFX-2, it madethe whole game worse, without any decent music. It's a shame they couldnt make a decent story or get good music for X-2, because as far as gameplay goes, the battle systemwas awesome! (except the dressspheres bit).

Anyway, X had good music, need to get the soundtrack for that. My fave piece ever would probably be.......The Landing, FFVIII.

It was really hard to choose between FFVIII and FFX cause FFVIII had 'eyes on you' (or what ever it was called) but FFX has suteki de ne (or whatever it was called :P) *mind explodes*

IMO that was my fave song...JUST! Didn't like Suteki da ne coz I couldn't understand it! Melodies of Life (FFIX) Would be my 2nd fave song, and 1000 words (X-2) my third.

Gotta be FFVII for me because I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the soundtrack, One Winged Angel really stood out as my personal favourite song from it.

Final Fantasy X has a great soundtrack too, To Zanarkand is a saddening moving great song:D
