I was just wondering,
Who plays the .Hack series?

.Hack//Infection
.Hack//Mutation
.Hack//Outbreak
.Hack//Quarantine

I do play it and i like the game because its just like an MMORPG but the rest is just computer, it looks cool and i like the gameplay.
Its has a good story and you can go to almost infinite areas!
you can use different keywords and different servers

keywords and servers like:
Server - Keyword A - Keyword B - Keyword C

Theta Closed Oblivious Twin Hills
Lambda Dolorus Evil Eyed Widow
And alot more.

There are 5 different servers:
Delta
Theta
Lambda
Sigma
Omega

But Omega server is too instable to play on because the Virus so Helba (a hacker) made a mirror server: Net Slum.

There are eight boss monsters too, called: Eight Phases
The names of the monsters are:
Phase one: Skeith
Phase two: Innis
Phase three: Magus
Phase four: Fidchell
Phase five: Gorre
Phase six: Macha
Phase seven: Tarvos
Phase eight: Corbenik

The battles are in real time.

I only have the first game, .hack // Infection, but never got far. The dungeons are really boring and when you die against a boss, you have to do the dungeon all over again...

hmm that sucks...i really hate games where you have to start over all the time....unless its hitman...

Starting over new again sucks indeed.
Otherwise, the graphics are quite nice and I like to storyline.
You just have to bare against the fact you CAN die and have to start over new again.
It does mean you'll probably do berter next time you try.
I lost against the first boss; Skeith, and I know why.
Didn't have enough Resurrects :p
Better luck next time :D

This is a little late, I would imagine, but I see no reason why I can't post.

In regards to .hack, I've played and beaten the first four installments (the ones you are referring to) and also the G.U. trilogy, which, in my humble opinion, is far better than these in many regards. That is not to say, though, that it beats these in all ways.

Some of the things I liked about these four games was that there was a large number of people you could befriend and learn about. None of them were generally the same in regards to their personality, so it was much more realistic than some other games. Not only that, but, despite what others may say, the major boss fights in these four games are, simply put, epic when you know what you are doing. It can be a slight bit annoying when dealing with full-dungeon backtracks due to dying from some bull, though, but I got used to that after playing many other RPG's.

All in all, I love both parts of the .hack series and would recommend them to others; I just didn't feel like really going into details about the whole game right now lol.
