They aren't, they created the FF7 intro for a PS3 Tech Demo, that's all.

Exactly why they wont remake it

At the E3 event for the PS3. They talked about the technical stuff which almost made my brain explode. They said that things will be better...blah blah blah. They thusly lead to show the potential that the PS3 had by using footage in the first cutscene of the game. The beginning where Cloud comes out of the train and where Aeris in praying. It shows the extended version where Cloud jumps around with his Buster Sword.

After the clip finished the representative for Square-Enix said that they do not have plans on remaking Final Fantasy VII, which, the audience booed and complained and everyone laughed.

It would be cool if they did, but I doubt they are going to.

I was reading this Japanese site a few days ago, and it had some talk from FF7's director on it speaking about the remake rumors. He said that if they were to remake it, it would take a staff of around 300 people and at least five years to make. So, that hints us toward thinking they won't do it, as they have their hands full for at least another year with all of their current projects.

As interesting(cough) as FFVIII was,I think a PS3 remake would add more light to it but it'd be okay with me if they don't.I woud then just have more money for better games.

I think it could be the best thing SE ever did other than the original! (and FFVIII IMO lol) Think about it, they showed the demo and said they wern't gonna remake it. They were booed!!! It's blindingly obvious that fans WANT the game remade! And I think they may be obliged to, now they've shown the demo and got everyone's hope's up. Maybe they'll realize it would be cruel not too!

Also, imagine what the game itself would be like. The same story, but with PS3 graphics, voice overs, AC-like OST...I mean, if you saw the tech demo, you saw the new stuff they did with the opening FMV. They would do that with every FMV, have different angles, expressions and new dialougue in-game, we'd be able to get an even larger world to explore, loads more sidequests, new Materia probs, Chocobo Racing could be even more awesome!! FF7 Gold Saucer Chocobo Racing on the PS3 could be like burnout revenge...with Chocobo's!!!!!

And every FF fan who owns a PS3 would buy it!!! It could lead to loads more sales of the original as newcomers play it to see what it was like before the remake! It and the merchandising etc would make them millions, and it would probably sell even more than the original! Bring it back..please!!!!!

I have just found out on a forum that apparently Square-Enix are NOT going to remake FF7 UNTIL the original will no longer play on the playstation (Ie that generation of Playstation is NOT backwards compatable with PSX games.) So hey lets hope and pray thats soon :D

I wouldn't get your hopes up about this, un-official information is normally fake. Sqaure-enix said in a statement they won't be re-making FF7, but they will be doing a sequel.

Allright, then. Here's what we do. We could just...trash all our FFVII's!!!XD Think about it, we can't play 'em...'cause we don't have 'em! XD Then they'll HAVE to make a remake! It's fool-proof! And I would know!:D

13-11-2005, 03:00
With the same graphics? I really wouldn't care for it unless they added lots of new stuffs, which would be awesome...so yeah, I would get it...because it would be awesome. But I think alot of people would be dissapointed if they just did that without any changes to it...

Bizzaro
13-11-2005, 18:42
Lol, The old one is still easy to get though. They still have them at almost Video Game store you go into. And I love the original and if they messed it up I would have to kill them.

TriggerHappi:D
14-11-2005, 07:32
Ya, as much as I would die for a PS3 remake, I wouldn't want them to mess around with it's story or the materia system or anything....or else they'd die....slowly....with spoons....that are plastic....and cold.....

XD

Trigani-Maru-Suke
14-11-2005, 07:44
ya, I agree. If they changed anything it would probably mess something up, although adding more of vincent's story would be awsome XD but i'm guessing DOC will cover that, hopefully

TriggerHappi:D
14-11-2005, 07:51
Probably. Is there a thread on it? Yeah, right? Anyway, I'm still sitting in my room hoping that Square is gonna' surprise us with like "FFVII: Ressurection" or whatever. :D And DoC is gonna' be awesome. The graphics are so sweet!!!

lukeman
14-11-2005, 15:36
I'm not sure about DoC... I don't wanna play anthing that taints the FFVII name, so I hope they were careful and made it spesh. Would loooove FFVII remake though! You'd end up ruining FF7 for everyone then, so not the best of choices. Square-enix are not making a re-make of this game for one simple reason: They don't want to ruin it.

And I know we will never see a re-make, unless I see it with my own eyes, it's never going to happen.

lukeman
15-11-2005, 13:41
SE are pros. OK, they don't wanna ruin it. But if they take theeir time and really think about it, they won't ruin it. You only need to worry about it being ruined if they throw something together for a profit. I have enough confidence in SE that if they really thought about it and planned it properly like they did the original, we could see FFVII how how it was always meant to be; just like real life on the PS3!

Rai
17-11-2005, 10:49
What would be interesting is an option to convert the game into a version where instead of the classic battle system, they used more of an FFXII free-movement battle. Imagine, running through the reactor AS Cloud, swinging your sword to fend off Shinra troops.

It'd ruin the feeling, but it would be awesome.

lukeman
17-11-2005, 11:05
"It'd ruin the feeling"

The four and a half magic words there Rai. SE would have to be so careful about an FFVII remake, and changing the battle system so dramatically would totally ruin it.

As for the "option" thing, thats not practical unfortunatly. They'd basically have to make two different games for it to work, not a pretty task.

Rai
17-11-2005, 14:36
Of course, they could just make a graphically-enhanced version with the 2-player feature that was in FF9.

No, wait! 3 player mode! Each control one character - it'd be a treat for all FF fans!

lukeman
17-11-2005, 14:40
...I think you should play FFVII once or twice first.... You're losing the essence of Final Fantasy VII!

It was a single player adventure, something you were actually on the edge of your seat playing. Aeris' death just wouldn't be as moving with three peeps huddled around a TV...

Rai
17-11-2005, 14:41
Me and my pal Tom spent a night playing FF9, two player.

That was a fun night!

Deknor
17-11-2005, 14:43
I believe that SE, is alot brighter than to truly mess with any of the mechanics of the game. True right now you think its a good idea, but think about it as you play through the game...you're telling me you wouldn't get bored hacking and slashing your way through FFVII? The shear thought of the recreation of FFVII should be enough to please the fans, and then the fact that it may actually happen...That puts some fans into a siezure of anticipation!!! :)

Rai
17-11-2005, 14:45
Nice choice of word. 'Seizure'.

Yeah, you're right. A remake would be good, but for now let 'em finish FFXII.

lukeman
17-11-2005, 14:45
Amen Deknor!

If FFVII IS remade, it should still be FFVII. Random Battles, ATB, Barret cursing etc... And they'd need to put aLOT of thought into any Voice actors.

Amen Deknor!
And they'd need to put aLOT of thought into any Voice actors.

Surely they'd just use the voice actors from AC?
After all, they're the same ones who appeared as the characters in Kingdom Hearts I & II... So why not put them into the game so it all links together?

I agree with you there Sprog. The japanese voice actors from Final Fantasy: Advent Children fitted extremely well, and I think they'd do an excellent job of capturing the essence of FF7.

However, although Barret and Cid's swearing is funny in text, I think it just wouldn't fit in with voice actors.

Ahhh yes, but don't forget the amount of expression they can now get onto a characters face... So it might make it just as funny, due to the fact they have allthese funny expressions to fit in with their swearing... And you could have the option to select voice or text! Kinda "FFVII:AC" or "Classic FFVII" options! XD

They did an interview with producer Yoshinori Kitase and character designer Tetsuya Nomura and Kitase said they didnt plan on making a remake. They said it would take 5 years to make and that they'd spend mroe time on new projects instead of a remake.

Yeah we know this, but plans change! Final Fantasy Advent Children was originally PLANNED to be a 20 minute short. Its now a feature length movie. You can never take a decision like that as Final. If enough Loyal fans say "Oi, we want a remake!" they may well decide to change their plans. I wouldn't be at all suprised if they did at some point; now they've introduced the idea to everyone they'll need ot make it just so we all shut up!!! lol

Not really, fact is....advent children was gonna be 20minutes, so they boosted it up to a full-length movie, they didnt say there weren't going to make a movie and then make it, its a big difference.

Actually, read the articles carefully (I read the artocl;es on blue laguna, the ones linked to above). Tetsuya Nomura said HE wouldn't, and Kitase said an FFVII remake is "out of reach" at the moment as long as FFXIII is the next FF on the PS3. They did not say "Square-Enix WILL NOT release a Final Fantasy VII remake". OK, maybe it's after FFXII, maybe Tetsuya Nomura isn't right up there leading the project. But the possibilty is there. I mean, these company's will become better and better at producing PS3 games as time goes on, so it will surely become easier for a remake when they have been working with the console for a while.

If there is a FULL TRANSLATED INTERVIEW which says "SE WILL NOT REMAKE FFVII," then please, link me to it.

Or just use your brain, ofcourse the games will become eas-i-er to make, BUT it will only knock a few months off production and considering the fact, it will still take atleast 4years to make AND not everyone is going to be happy with it, and if they dont make it correctly they're gonna bugger it up and end up loosing money, you'll find out sooner of later, that SE just don't want to take the risk of ruining a game.
But,

As a result, provided fan reaction continues to be feverishly positive over the demo, and the very notion of a FFVII remake is certainly something Square Enix would bear in mind when planning future projects.

sprog
19-11-2005, 23:03
whoa! Calm down dude, although i agree with you on the FFVII remaked has not actually been Canceled.... And advent Children 20mins? How were they gonna do that?! An FFVII remake would come as a big welcome by nearly all FF fans, so they probably will make it in the not-to-distant future!

lukeman
25-11-2005, 17:48
A remake would be one of the biggest things to come out of that company. FFVII is so acclamied, that it would have to be. I think we'd either see a triumph, hugely bettering the original, or something reminisent of Spirits Within.

Personally, I hope they decide to try it in future, but even if it happens I know it won't be a while. I think I'll just sit and hope they get XII and XIII right before I worry TOO much about FFVII: Reunion (Come on, that would be a good title! :p )

TriggerHappi:D

Amen, buddah! (Buddah? XD) I really don't think it's possible for them to make a bad remake, though. Even if the game is horrendous, I think FF Fans would get it....just to have. I know I would. XD

well not really because they are trying to change the battle play totally to look like advent children battles.

I think a remake of FFVII is not very unlikely. "Why do I think so?" You may wonder... or not. Whatever, I don't care, I'm going to tell you anyways.

The reason why I believe a remake of FFVII is not out of the question is this;
You know, the compilation. There's Advent Children, there's going to be Dirge of Cerberus(with a big fat open ending) there's Crisis Core and Before Crisis and whatever else Crisis they may be on the way.

Well whatever, I can imagine they want to end the compilation with a bang. And what a better bang would a remake of FFVII be? Let me make clear that I'm not, in any way, saying that there's actually going to be a remake, but I just don't see why not. It will make a lot of 'old' fans (including me, excluding a lot of other 'old' fans) very happy. And it also opens the door for newer gamers, who would have never played the original FFVII, if there wasn't a remake. Be honest. The gamers of this time want beautiful graphisized games. FFVII has a great story, why not have great graphics too? There are many people who have seen Advent Children, who will play Dirge of Cerberus, who have never played FFVII in the first place.

I think that Squeenix do good to remake FVII, because they will attract a newer generation gamers with a game that can be called the best FF game ever made. At least, that's what many of the 'old' gamers say. Well, let that newer generation know of the story before Advent Children. Because, to be honest, if I hadn't played the game before I saw the movie then I wouldn't understand one frigging bit about what's the movie's about. I think a lot of 'newbies' have that too.

Of course, I'm not saying that they should remake the game identically, as in "let's dump in great graphics, and keep everything else the same", either. When I think of a remake of FFVII I think of new side quests, adjustments to the story so that it will cross better with the rest of the Compilation, adjustments to the battle system, Chocobo breeding, dialog, etc, etc, etc.

I think there's a big marketing opportunity there. It may cost a bit (sarcasm at its best *ahem*), and I'm not a marketing expert, but I think there's a lot to be earned if they release the much talked about remake.

Ok, that's my €0.02.

T_T man... they HAVE to remake it... FFVII was like the RPG that transformed me into a rpg fan xD! it was love at first sight! the system battle, the materia, the summons, the story and all th great stuff that was in it... if they do it, they will surely earn a lot of money...

probably more focused on the the current FFs like FFXIII.

Yeah but you never know. There is such a strong following for VII and the hype they made by releasing the clip at the E3 show. I'm sure they have been flooded with calls and e-mail from fans. Not to mention the questions from all the interviews with SE people. So they know the demand is there. That always makes a company want to supply. Especially if all they gotta do is re-vamp something instead of start from scratch.
