Kojima Productions namesake Hideo Kojima is featured in the latest issue of Famitsu through a short interview in which he discusses Metal Gear Solid 4 and gives a few comments on the next generation systems.
As part of the interview, Kojima reveals the reason that the PS3 was chosen as the format for the next entry in the series. The Metal Gear Solid brand, Kojima states, has been brought up with Sony hardware, the Sony market and through the with the support of Sony, making the choice a simple one.
MGS4 doesn't seem to be limited exclusively to the PS3, though. While Kojima states that the game is, at this point, only set for the PS3, he wouldn't mind porting it to other hardware. However, this would require a large staff and lots of development funds. He also adds that if he were making a game for the Revolution or Xbox 360, he'd want to make something completely different from the Metal Gear Solid series -- an original title that fits in with the market for those systems.
Kojima also offers up a few comments on all the next generation systems in the interview. The PS3, in Kojima's mind, seems to be aiming for a high visual level. He also praises the Xbox 360, stating that he believes many developers will develop for it. As for Revolution, Kojima feels that the system is surrounded by mysteries right now. He believes that there's a surprise that has yet to be announced, and he's excited to find out what it is.

I come with my knowledge of the future games for the MGS series. I will share if anyone doesn't mind.
Metal Gear Solid 4 - If you check out the Kojima Productions official site, you'll find some news about this game and some MGS art. MGS 4's story will take place after the events of MGS2 (sorry, no Big Boss this time). Snake is supposed to be the main character in the fourth installment, good enough news for you Raiden haters, however, Raiden will be in MGS4 (most likely not as a playable character, you never know). It's been confirmed that Big Boss will be a focal role in the fourth installment, but it's still unknown what sort of role.
Now, if you check out the art work you'll see several characters. There's Solid Snake, Raiden and he appears to be holding a child and the katana (the child is probably Raiden's), Otacon, Revolver Ocelot, Meryl (she's back), Vamp (nope, he's not dead yet), Naomi (she appears to be wearing something that looks like a hooded poncho), and the corpse of Big Boss.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence - Similar to Substance, but it'll feature MGS3: Snake Eater as a third person view. There will also be the ORIGINAL Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Heh, Metal Gear for the NES was the original, but it was slightly different. I'm sure that most of you know that Metal Gear 2: Snake's Revenge (for the NES) was B.S. and not part of the official Metal Gear timeline, it wasn't the real sequel to Metal Gear either. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for the MSX and MSX2, the more efficient NES and SNES in Asia) were never released in the U.S.A, this'll give the gamers the ability to play the originals.
