ok, this is for the people that have watched advent children. If you haven't and don't want any spoilers then don't read the text below, I'll put it in spoiler tags so that no-one sees anything they don't want to see.
Ok, so. Anyone that has seens AC should remember where Kadaj is basicly dieing and cloud is holding him. He's looking up and a voice starts talking to him. I'm pretty sure this voice belongs to Aeris, but I could be wrong (that's what I want to talk about). Am I right when I say that was Aeris that Kadaj was talking to? Also he calls the person he's talking to Mother and she basicly says yes. Then after cloud get's shot and the explosion happens cloud is floating on the white screen. A hand with aeris's braclets touches clouds head and aeris' theme music plays. Cloud then says,"mother" and she says,"how many times have i told you not to call me that" or something around that. She then says,"I don't need a kid this big". Am I right in asuming Aeris is cloud's mother? Wouldn't that technoally mean in some way Aeris is Jenova? what are your thoughts on this? am i missing something?
I haven't seen the movie, but you are in fact wrong. Aeries isn't jenova in anyway, hence why jenova told sephiroth to kill aeries in the FF7

ok, aeries isn't jenova, but the way it's done makes it sounds like she is cloud's mother in some odd way.

Yeah, that was Aeris that Cloud was talking to when he was saying "Mother?", same with Kadaj. I got the same impression as you, TMS, and it's been opening up a bunch of doors for me to make theories about the original game.

Its only cause she has a mothers touch, so it makes them think its there mother, or whatever..all I know is Aeries isnt there mother and she isnt jenova

I think there is much more to it than that.
I saw the movie yest, using some revised subs available from torrenspy.
AFAI can remember, Cloud never says "Mother". Kadaj only says "Mother" because he is referring to Jenova, just like Sephiroth did. After all, Kadaj was a "Sephiroth larva". He thinks he is becoming one with Mother again, but what with Jenova being decimated by Cloud, Jenova didn't return to the Lifestream like Aeris and Zack did, and ultimately also Kadaj.
PS: Anyone else thought the whole scene, from Kadaj turned into Sephy and especially Omnislash, was just (zomgbbqwtfpwn) the coolest? :D:D:D

cloud does say mother. Here is a screenshot I took to try and prove my theory to my friend. This Image that cloud contain a spoiler (http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/1359/vlcsnap6018988jl.png) shows cloud saying it. Although there isn't any text showing who's saying who it was cloud that says it. and yes, cloud's omnislash was kick ass. I love his new sword.

deary deary deary me...cetra's are the mothers of the earth basically, they're like mother nature..of course she has a mothers touch she is basically the mother of the earth.

If he's heard of Jenova, he's heard of cloud then he's heard of Sephiroth. He doesnt have to know Aeries, he didnt call her aeires or anything he just said "Mother" and cause of that she could of had a mothers touch, or he thinks hes going to join his mother.

yes but in the movie he says that he never met sephiroth, which means he probably didn't really know who aeris was. Also he only heard aeris voice, so a mothers touch probably wasn't why he called her mother. Also during when cloud is floating and calls aeris mother kadaj is also talking with aeris and says to cloud,"too bad your place isn't here"
Kadaj calls mother just because he has never heard jenova's voice and can only understand the feeling that he felt when aeris talked to him, cloud calls mother because of the warm feeling of love he gets when aeris calls him.

you can't say your theories are closer than everyone else when you haven't seen the movie. Whether my theories are correct or not, it's based on what I saw from the movie. Your's can only be based on the game and what other people have said.
What about this.... This is in no way gonna be a valid theory but since everyone is putting theirs in i thought i might as well do it too :P
Well Aeireth (or however the hell you spell it... stupid woman having a weird name lol :P) worked in the slums right as a 'flower girl'.... ie prostitute. So anyway a few years before sephiroth goes insane he employs her services while on leave. She gets pregnant and about like 9 months later out pop 3 babies (anyone see where im going with this?)

I don't think that's the case. because if...
Kadaj calls aeris mother from just hearing aeris, that means square enix became very desperate for an ending, and ruined the entire purpose aeris. and they already ruined the cloud vs sephiroth fight. It doesnt make any sense for them to just "guess" aeris is their mother. if this is the case, then square-enix needs to play some rpg's made by other people and learn how to do endings. but with tms and my theory, it would make sense with the movie and the game, not perfect sense, but enough to make it so it doesn't seem like a half-assed ending. :P

Both theories make sense to me. I can see where Akiko's theory works, but mine and .Krytikal.'s theory is works.
I still think mine is the best :P
I wonder if square will one day give us the answer to all these questions?
Kadaj, Cloud ..etc they all don't have mothers, and as it says in the game they yearn for one. So when Aeries calls Kadaj he gets a feeling that makes him think it's his mother because he's yearning for one
if you watch the movie proberly, you really can't misunderstand why =/
well if by kadaj you mean sephiroth then your right. and the only reason they look for jenova AT ALL is for the reunion.

Suggestion: The spoiler tag is redundant when a spoiler warning is given in the topic title.

Kryt, why bother with the spoiler tags when the whole topic already carries one? It'd be like putting an 18 warning in front of every violent or sexual scene of a film, when the film already carries one.
Huh? I though Jenova was mother.

Wow I am so looking forward to this film! I haven't seen it yet so I don't know but I really like the whole Aeris being mother idea, although it would be a bit sick considering she's always hitting on him in the game...yuk! Can I just ask how have you all seen it? Japenese with subtitles or is it out in America?

I'll say it again - why bother with the spoiler tags? You're not having to conceal stuff, because people already KNOW that there are spoilers in here. You can tell from the way the title is 'Spoilers - Advent Children'. It's a bit damned obvious.

Yeah, for me too. It was totally a surprise too me. And that he's holding Jenova all the time.
Just seen the movie btw, I had it on my computer for more then 2 weeks already, but everytime I forgot to watch it or didn't had the time.

I think it's rather stupid that people are trying to mimic game character or movie characters, your not going to look anything like them apart from clothes-wise, it's not un-original, unless your in a cosplay anything but that is just plain stupid
Cosplaying rocks. I suppose it's just the "excitement" of having their outfits. Then again, I'd cosplay. But if you're NOT cosplaying and just...want to wear it normally, that's pretty weird....
Other than that, Cosplaying is funky. Being strange and wearing them for kicks or for the hell of it, is more...strange. ^_^

oh woooooooooooow big ass sword! :D and yesh Cosplay is awesome, though I haven't done it yet i intend to at some point ^_^ I once hated it though, I thought the people looked like ponces.....actually some people I still do XD
