For a few days now my PC has taken ages to boot and although it's not that bad, it is annoying. I know many sites have adverts ridden with viruses and things can get into the registry. However, I have reason to believe it was this guy called Myst from the Evil Unleashed Forums, as he sent me quite a lot of rude messages the other day. I've had many problems with people from Resident Evil boards in the past, so there's no reason why I should doubt that one of them did it. They're been harassing me for about 2 years.
They been doing it for two years and you still go there?
I would either buy an anti-virus package or try using a free one to clear your computer.
That and use something like Microsoft Anti Spyware if you don't already, hope that helped.

I should also suggest Hitman Pro (http://www.hitmanpro.com). It's a collection of anti-spyware programs that will run all be run automaticly. But it's takes a while to download all the programs and scanning your computer.
AVG Free (http://www.grisoft.com/doc/289/lng/us/tpl/tpl01) is a good free antivirus software program, it takes a while to scan your whole HD, but it's worth the wait.
Get Spybot Search & Destroy.
get AdAware (free).
get McAfee.
It's likely that you have spyware on your computer if it runs slow, considering you empty your temporary internet files frequently and defragment your disk once in a while.

Also might not be my place but that forum doesn't sound very nice.
If your having problems there you should alert an admin or just leave, better that than get a virus.

you might have someting indeed, so ill quote myself as this post contains usfull info:
the sympthoms you're describing indicate that there is something like spyware active...
I personally advise you to use Hitman Pro(Download (Dutch) (http://members.home.nl/mloman/hitmanpro215.exe))(manual (English) (http://xthost.info/hitmanual/)) in combination with Microsoft Anti-Spyware (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx)...
you could try the following procedure...
0.1) Install!!! :D
0.2) Print the Manual!!! Important for all your english user out there...
1.1) Set Microsoft antispyware to actively check for spyware...
2.1) Run a Scan with Hitman Pro... (can take some time)
2.2) Run a scan with MS antispyware...
2.3) Run a Virus scan...
3.0) repeat step 2.x again (optionally afterwards goto step 4)
4.1) Stop MS antispyware...
4.2) De-install (keep your virusscanner :D)
you also might want to uninstall or temporarily disable things like bittorrent downloaders etc. or other memory resistent programs... (clock area icons)
DO NOT DISABLE YOUR VIRUSSCANNER :D
if its slow to load, you have either too many programs loading at boot up or you REALLY need to defrag your hard drive. could be both.

Does this look sneaky to you? They're all idiots. I cannot believe they think I'm the one with the problems.

I remember the time when my PC was taking absolute AGES to boot o-o Ussually it takes like 2-3 mins, but back then it was like 15 mins to 20 mins, which is insane oO If I recall properly, I had a piece of spyware called DataMiner in my computer, and when I deleted it, my computer started being normal again :P So I think its either spyware or something, some form or shape of Malware =P
I guarantee I can get your computer to boot in 2 - 3 minutes, flat. Just give me 2 hours with it and It'll be like new ;)
I think my friends computer once took around 20 minutes to start, granted, he is a spong and wont clean it up.
I never really have any problems because I keep my computer clean and use the system restore disk every few months.

You should have some form of anti-spyware program anyway, I'd recommend ad-aware. Avoid the microsoft one like the plague if you have MSN messenger plus, because it picks up on that as spyware.

I wouldn't, it may see it as spyware but you can simply tell it not to touch it.
I mean it is a really good program, counting it out over that would be a bit much.

There are better third-party ones out there anyway, like ad-aware and spybot, both free.
i thought this was a thread for a virus not with other forums and if you keep joining them again again and keep trying your just gonna get hated have enemies get virus and spam email and if you have a virus
1 go into control panel and do system restore in the system options and set it back to the dae it was working good or okay but warning it will delete new files you have saved on there.
2 use an anti spyware progam to search and destroy it.
3 take it to a store to get it fixed or the memory complete cleared but that might not help if you have important stuff.

Doing a System Restore wont help if its a virus or spyware and taking it to someone who wil fix it is a waste of money. use as many spyware & virus removal tools as you can, if it dosnt fix the problem your best idea is to actually reinstall windows itself or if its alot of programs booting at the start up remove alot of them.
trust me, been doing this for 3 years and now im going to be getting qualifications as a computer technician and hopefully a cisco network certified network admin.

My AVG isn't letting me store or delete these viruses. Plus, my computer takes 10 minutes to start. It keeps being reset which is annoying. My uncle is going to have to install everything again in a few days.
By the way, I'm going to insert all my favourite pictures into messages and send them away to one of my MSN Hotmail accounts or something for storage.

You know, it'd probably just be a lot simpler if you burned all onto a cd, unless you don't have a cd-burner, then forgot what I said.
