View Full Version : The REAL Fashion Victims

10 years ago if you wore fur in public you risked being covered with red paint by protesters, now animal pelts are displayed everywhere, from the New York catwalk to the hightstreet, with little or no protestors to care anymore.

Now basically what I want to know is what you think of fur. Would you ever wear an animal pelt? How about fake fur? Animals in entertainment? Leather? Or do you think it's acceptable in some cultures.

Now, stop reading now if you have a weak stomach.

Fur Farms. Ever heard of them? Now, fur farms exist all over the world, with 64% being in Northern Europe, apparently. The most farmed fur-bearing animal is the mink, followed closely by the fox. Also, Chinchillas, lynxes, badgers and even HAMSTERS are killed for fur in these farms. The killer methods on these farms are utterly gruesome. As slaughter methods are what the fur farmers class as difficult, as to preserve the quality of the coat and stop the animal from suffering. So, they resort to causing the animal extreme pain, yet keeping the fur they want it. Small animals, such as the chinchillas are crammed into boxes and poisoned, but the poison isnt always lethal enough - therefore making some animals wake up during the skinning.Larger animals have clamps or a rod applied to their mouths while rods are inserted into their anuses, and they are painfully electrocuted. Other animals are poisoned with strychnine, which suffocates them by paralyzing their muscles in painful rigid cramps. Also Gassing, decompression chambers, and neck-snapping are other common fur-farm slaughter methods. Nice, isnt it?

The fur industry refuses to condemn even blatantly cruel killing methods. Genital electrocution, deemed “unacceptable” by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) 1993 Panel on Euthanasia, is a fur factory farm killing method that causes animals the pain of cardiac arrest while they are fully conscious. In 1994, Indiana became the first state to file criminal charges against a fur factory farm after PETA investigators documented genital electrocution at V-R Chinchillas. The chinchilla fur industry considers electrocution and neck-breaking “acceptable.”

In 1995, one district attorney filed charges against pelt supplier Frank Parsons of Salisbury, Md., for injecting a mixture of rubbing alcohol and weed-killer into the chests of minks. PETA undercover investigators videotaped Parsons using an illegal pesticide, Blackleaf 40, to painfully kill the minks.
Now yes, I know fur farms is illegal in some countries and places, but there is NOTHING to stop importing - such as Dog coats from China.

I'll stop now, as im ill as it is - and this topic just makes me feel so sick ontop of that. One more thing:

WARNING: DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A STRONG STOMACH. IT IS HORRIFIC, VIOLENT AND DISTURBING AND SHOWS THE METHODS IN THE FUR FARMS IN CHINA. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

>> Link removed <<

Opinions, please.

Aeyze:: Removed link, I'm sorry, I'm just really... uncomfortable having it there. I don't know how to explain it, but I'd feel so much better if you refrained from posting pictoral evidence please.

I stopped watching that not to long into it, honestly, I found that disgusting.

The fact anyone could do that makes me sick, if I ever saw someone doing that I would probably hit them. Its wrong in so many ways, cruel bastards.

I would never wear anything made of fur like that, everything about what they are doing is just WRONG! >.>

I had an article like this come up for my Dutch exam (it was good on one hand cause they asked you to write an essay containing facts and opinions, I could literally give out about everything, got an A for it too xD Bastards and their animal cruelty). It's absolutely disgusting and disgraceful. These guys have lost touch with reality. It's all about money to them. It makes me SICK. Some people make me wanna puke. Ugh.

that. is. ****ing. disgusting.

That is probably one of the things that gets me most worked up, I mean, WHY would anyone do that to a LIVING CREATURE?! Sure, if the animal has been slaughtered for food, and the skin was going to be thrown away, it'll be more understandable, but the methods that have been used there sicken me right to my core.

Why does the animal have to be alive whilst they do that? It doesn't. It's probably the sick perverted ****s that do it that have some kinda enjoyment from it all.

Begs the question, what can we do about it? Sure, we could sit around here and discuss it, but that really makes me want to go out and so something about it. But I know I wouldn't be listened to, I'm not really a public speaker type. Heh.

Anyways, its sick, disgusting, inhumane, horrible... and any other words to describe how sick that is.

Really sorry Lei, but I think I'm thinking I might be obliged to take the link out of your post. I haven't looked at ityself - I'm 100% sure it'll give me nightmares. But there's something about links that say "DO NOT CLICK" that drives people to click them.

As an alternative, if anyone needs any pictoral evidence then I suggest a google search, I'm sure you can find as much imagery as you need (I know I sure as hell won't ever google for something like that x_x)

___

As for the fur trade. I find it disgusting. Absolutely distgusting.

Sorry again for having to remove the link, I know you put it there in good intentions, but even with warnings around it, I'm really uncomfortable having it there.

Found out I have a weak stomach after all. Stopped watching rather quick.

One word:

DIS-GUSTING.

Gawd, I tell you someday I'm gonna... >.> I really want those Fur farms to be illegal, honestly. @_@ Mirae's and Chris's posts basicly describe what I think. My GOD do something about these crazy beings called humans. Please. I can't even bring myself to watch it fully. I almost bloody threw up.

I watched the entire video. I felt... obliged to the animals... kinda sad, I know... but... yeah.

It wasn't so much sick, as depressing. The fact that that animal had been completely skinned, yet was still alive... all bloody... and still moving. It was disgusting, yes, but the sheer fact of how sad it was is more effective. If you get what I mean.

Scott

The thing that really made me stop was seeing the animals eyes, the look in them made me feel REALLY sad.

I think its best to take the link out, honestly I wish I hadn't watched it now, very depressing.

I just find it hard to believe that anyone could do such a thing, really, its horrifying. Sick people, they really are.

I don't like fur, but I do like leather, for the reason that people eat cow as well. If people ate the chinchillas or the mink or whatever, I wouldn't mind quite so much.

It's okay that you removed the link Frosty, I understand completly. :p Sorry to all those who watched it an regretted it, my apologises.

And yeah, good to hear people hold the same opinions as me, its an awful, horrid thing.

There was a movie on myspace.com that got spreaded around, dunno if it was this..but they were skinnin the animals alive..beating it if it moved, stomping on it's neck/head/body...whatever they could hit, it was horrible..really horrible, good clothes cannot be worth that. I will never see the day where I understand why people do that

Chris

That would probably be this one...

saw this a few days ago, but the diffrence between now and then (stone age), is that during that time, we kill them to survive, now we kill them for leisure.

The killing method is stupid, why not just slice their necks? or just inject them?

i have seen a goat being beheaded alive, after the bugger is sliced in just one hit, the body twitches frantically(sp) but i think its painless do to the fact they sliced it off in one well put hit.

i am slightly disgusted, but meh my other dream job is to be a cremator in my own cremetorium.

I'm glad Aeyze removed that link, i always tend to click on things that say,"don't click" just because you know...it tells you not to. I don't want to see the video and haven't but i can imagine how bad it must be. Lenin the reason they won't just cut their necks or behead them is because blood tends to stain. They don't want the blood on the fur probably. Then again they skin the animals, wouldn't blood get on the fur during that? ek don't really want to know how they do it.

Skinning animals doesn't sound so bad. Killing them, is a whole new thing. If people are gonna consider killing animals for fur, then we might aswell shave their skin off and call it fashion.

And can someone please tell me what the hell fashion is anyway? I've seen fashion shows and I think people walking around in large flying-saucer shaped hats wearing fur DOES NOT look the slighest bit "trendy". I'll also add that they probably look more stupid than the people who aren't fashionable. So please, do yourselves a favour and go shave something worthwhile other than a defenseless animal.

Chris
04-10-2005, 19:06
skinning animals, I guess, is okay, if the rest of the animal is used for something like... food.

yeah, we could shave their fur, but the problem with that would be that how do we get it to stick up again? pay for expensive factory equipment to sew it all in, and skinning an animal is cheaper.... so.. yeah.

the methods of skinning in the video, dale, were.. horrific. do you want me to describe them to you? or maybe you could get the link from kayleigh in msn or something.

Please, don't describe them here - I'm not kidding, I have an over active imagination, and for me - even though I didn't watch the video, description is just as bad - stuff like what I'm thinking was on that video (getting a vibe from other peoples posts) is likely to give me nightmares. No kidding. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. If anyone wants description can they please do it over PM?

BAN GRAND THEFT AUTO!!!!!!!! It is inciting people to skin animals Ban the filth!!!!!!!!

na just kidding... sorry went all Jack Thompson there.

Anyway... that is kinda screwed up. I can't say that animals being skinned bothers me. But the fact the animal was alive at the time I do really draw the line at. They should kill them in a very non-grand theft auto inspired way so they don't suffer.

Hey look Davidonsnake, I already said in an earlier post - if you'd bothered to read it - that if you wanted to look at images of suffering and torture, then google the damn thing, but I sure as **** aren't having links to it here, okay?

Good. Glad we got that sorted out.

ok

I've seen many gory things ont he internet. I've seen people die, people shot, sliced, run over, brains spalttered under a truck. But nothign has made me more uneasy that that video.

To see animalsl treated in such a manner makes me extremely angry. it makes me want to fight and protest and get this process stopped.

I was just kidding.

Psh I have seen animal killing for a good couple of years.Back in my native country people executed animals in the street and then prayed to god about using the animal as food and then they all exchanged and ate their meat.So trust me,I have seen it happen.I still remember how shiny the blood of this one cow was...
