yeah but there's like 14 rooms in that hotel, some - probably most since its summer - are gonna be booked anyhows... so with more than 14 people probably going, we can't each get a room, and so on.
THATS WHY WE BOOK NOW!!!
Okay I need to know whos coming, and whos sharing a room, I need to know by Thursday!
I want to go for 3-4 nights, whatever is good with you is fine, I'm thinking first night Friday.
Also I want it to be the middle to the end of July.
Friday the 21st of July to Monday the 24th of July (or Tuesday the 25th) you can stay for less or longer if you wish, not everyone has to stay for the same length.
PM ME WITH HOW MANY ARE IN YOUR PARTY (who you want to share a room with) AND HOW MANY NIGHTS YOU'RE GOING TO STAY FOR PEOPLE WHO DO NOT DO THIS BY FRIDAY 4PM GMT MAY HAVE TO FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO STAY

I think I'll be taking about £500 with me, in order to cover the cost of my chosen method of travelling (still sorting that out with Graeme) food and accomodation and shopping money on top of that, may be subject to change though depending how much I can pursuade my mom to withdraw out what is essentially my bank account, but she holds the strings on it >_<;;

youll need about £75 - £120 for accomodation, depending on how many days you stay for (3 or 4) and if you will share a room or not (£25 a night shared, £30 single)
I'd say on top of that however much money you'll need for food, attractions, shopping, and other stuff (alcohol and women if that's your thing @_@)
Hopefully, shouldn't need anymore than £300, but thenm again it's all up to you, I'll have about £400 with me altogether (including my accomodation and travel)

I'm taking my card, but since I'll have been at uni for a year, I couldn't tell you how much I'd have on it. I'm hoping I'd still have a couple of grand left, but, well, things are expensive here :P
I got by in newcastle with £200, and although I didn't spend any on accomodation etc, I did buy an expensive katana..
And I still had quite a bit of that money left over when I came back. Unless you're planning on really overdoing it, £1000 is, well, overdoing it :P

We CAN'T take up the whole place, it's not as simple as that. So I think (And this is MY personal opinion) that people who say, don't actually mind sharing a room should share a room, say if they've met before or whatever. Because if EVERYONE wanted their own room we certainly couldn't stay in the same place. It's just, you can't pick and choose.
So not the more rooms we take up the better. :p

Well, I've been hearing that you can usually only have two people to a room and it is posted somewhere here, but I'm thinking. What if we try to fit three people in each room? That should save money AND space. Plus...fewer debates about who goes where.

Like I've said previously Graeme, if you're bothered about the Hotel's objections we should book elsewhere too.
The thing is, it's gonna be uneven for a number of reasons. Aeyze is practically gonna be on her own cause she knows no-one which is already getting other people wanting to have rooms on their own not understanding the nature of why she is. But if we could fit at least three in one room, she could go in with the other girls and less people would be bothered about the solo room thing.
I'll look into it. If Mirae comes she can share a roomw ith Aeyze, but i do nt think shes coming.

But I still agree with Midi on that two people per room thing being a complete suck. Damn hotel...
Wrong, Dale. It doesn't suck. Usually it's couples which go to places like this, or families. Not groups of teenagers. There are youth hostels for larger groups. We've chosen somewhere nice, and 2 per room and the fact that we dont want to take up the whole place is perfectly reasonable. And what you said about Aeyze was basically just altered from what I said earlier. If you have a justified reason (Like Aeyze would) then fine, otherwise shut the hell up and deal. Staying four nights in a room with another person isn't the end of the world.
Also, Grae - will they even take bookings this early? Aah, its worth asking about or whatever you wanna do - better safe than sorry. :)
EDIT: Does it sound a little selfish/spoilt if i say that I really do care where we stay... Because like, I don't know but I'm a comfort person and I don't wanna spend 4 days in just any hotel place. I like the place chosen, so yeah, i hope we get it sorted.

Like I said earlier, I really, really don't mind/care at all about being in a room on my own xD Everyone else is paired up, but heck, if Mirae or Dom is coming, then I'm more then happy to share a room ^^. But since I don't know anyone else at all, it seems slightly selfish for me to bust in on other groups of people and split them . Meh, anywho, I've just about got travel arrangements sorted out (yay xD ~ That's the hardest part for me)
I can fly up to Prestwick ~ Scotland insanely cheap the day before we're due to meet up, stay at Graeme's house over night, come down with him - Tsuji and Cerigon too depending on their travel plan, blah blah blah, on the way back stay with Graeme overnight again and fly back down to Bournemouth International the next day [the closest airport to my house xD]
And anyway, I wouldn't worry about taking up half the hotel as long as we don't cause them any trouble. It's their job to provide people with a service.

Some hotels get awfully stuffy about that stuff, but then again it's hardly a five-star place we're going to and like you said they're in it for the money so they should be fine with letting a big party go. Personally I think its a bit selfish going "I want a room to myself" because it means less people can go, and we may have to look for more rooms.
Its not THAT big a deal is it, you're only gonna be sleeping and washing there.

After checking my finances I realised I wouldn't really be able to afford it. I've been through it tons of times and really if I did go I would have literally nothing to spend for half of next year, which I can't really handle.

yeah, had to get the opportune moment to ask, which happened to be going home from the shopping centre in the car at about 10:30pm O_o
Okay, this thing isn't booked yet.
Theres more poeple coming than I thought there would be, so I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you that it may be the fact that you will have to make your own reservations at the hotel (or another hotel in the area)
This is because of possible deposits and the ever changing list of people wanting to go. I feel it is too much of a responsibility to do this myself, and in the end it would be better if you handled it yourself so that no mistakes are made,and you turn up with no reservation.
Sorry to drop this bombshell on you, of course if you still need help booking and finding a palce I can help, but unfortunately not for everyone.

Well we can make sure people know where everyone is. We might be ablel to stay at the same place, thats why I posted link and phone number to that place so you can make yoru own reservations. If you can't make reservations there you can always ask them what the nearest hotel is and try to get a reservation there. We wo n't be very far apart, and we'll make sure everyone knows where they are and where everyone else is, just incase.
Really sorry about this, but I think it's for the best.

1) FIX THE LIST. You say 'No more people can go, unless someone drops out'
2) PHONE THE HOTEL. Ask them if they want a deposit. Don't just say 'they might want a deposit, I don't know, so I'm dropping the responsibility that I assumed'
It's alright. It's better Grae messed up earlier rather than later again, no offense Grae. =)
I emailed the hotel, waiting for a response now. Yeah, that's right. To put it simply, I'm taking over (Well, me and Midi). I'm finding out about the deposits today, and whether they can take us all when we want to be there, payment methods etc.
Y'see, I COULD organise a piss up in a brewery, unlike some.
Look I've tried getting in touch with them, phoned 3 times, gotten no answer each time. I've also left them 2 emails with no response.
And I didn't say no more people can go unless someone drops out. Thats bull, as many people can come if they want to, I'm just saying don't expect everyone to be able to stay in the one hotel, they only have 14 rooms and the way things are set up now we need about 8 rooms.
Okay I'll phone them up THIS afternoon, I'll keep trying til I get an answer. I'll fill them in with our situation ask them how many double rooms they can get. What's the situation on deposits. I should be able to post up all the information we need by 5 PM sharp.
So Lei do n't do anything just gimme one more chance to sort this out.

Incase you wanted to know the Ascot Hotel isn't taking summer bookings til February 2006, as they are currently closed until Easter, I just got through to a woman who was taking messages for the owners. If you want I can try phoning another few places up, or we can wait til February to give this place a call.

What I need to know is do you want me to try somewhere else in the meantime.
We can book somewhere else right now for security. Then we can try the Ascot in February when they open up,if they can accomodate us then we can cancel our other reservations in favor of the Ascot (if you wish to do so) but I need to know what you guys think is the best option for us.

Look, heres what I propose, if Lei wants to be so greatly involved then she and I can collaborate to get things done.
Sorry Guppy, but if you'd did what you were supposed to do when you were gonna in the first place, we'd be more interested in your excuses. If Lei wants to do it, let her. We aren't gonna argue about this before we actually go. We've got more important things to sort out.
If we want an HHN meet-up, I want someone who I can rely on to sort it, not somebody who's gonna be stuck every couple of days. No offence Grae, but if you're too busy to organise it, I'd prefer Lei to be in charge.

To be honest, I really don't blame you Dom. We can't slate anything permanently yet and this thread has been here for ages. Although, it's okay.
An' I see what Midi is getting at. I agree with her. If we're gonna be all over the place with reservations, we're gonna need a back-up.

You've ****ed up twice, grae. The first time, the entire meet was cancelled, and we had to arrange something completely different at the very last minute. This time, you've already declared that you want absolutely nothing to do with the organisation of this - how are we supposed to trust you when you say that you want to do this?
Well I changed my mind. It's beyind discussing, me and Lei have come to an agreement to organise it together. And the first time was mt my fault, you would have messed up too if you only had 2 months to book a hotel in York.
Fact is it's been dealt with and I'll lock this god damn thread if the discussion doesn't stop and stay on topic.
Well I guess I'll lock it anyways, once a thread is derailed you can't get it back on track.
