Anyone watched this Anime? the basic rundown is it's a world where people called Alchemists exist, they can use alchemy to change one object into another, providing it is of equal mass, the law being
"You cannot gain anything without sacrificing something, in order to recieve something you must present something of equal value"
That's the basic principal of Alchemy, Ed is an Alchemist who has tried to ressurect his mother with the help of his Brother Al, Ed lost his arm leg in the attempt and Al lost his entire body, Ed bound his soul to a suit of armour however to keep him alive and they're looking for a way to get their original bodies back, Ed has Auto-mail replacements for his lost limbs, (Robotic limbs)

This is an awesome anime, please talk about it XD Ed is awesome, I want auto-mail

FMA rules! I have all 51 episodes, and I just love it so much! Its a fantastic series, I can't wait for the movie to come out over here, but for now i'll content myself by buying the figurines from paradox (my near-by comic book shop).
If you haven't seen this, It really is amazing, the storyline is great, and Edward and Alphonse RULE! Perhaps Ed More so.... :D

I like FMA but there are to many pointless episodes. Like ones where the dude just sits there and crys for awhile, then its over. C'mon I didnt sit down to watch nothing happen. So its a good concept with poor characters.

I love Fullmetal Alchemist, it is a great anime! It would probably be my 3rd favorite anime because I love the plot and the characters. Ed would have to be my favorite, he is very comical and awesome.

Well, I've been reading up on the movie, and I've downloaded the trailer... and I can't wait! I know the DVD is out in Japan in January, the US$40 version has English Subs, but I was wondering if there's been anything on a US/Europe Release, as I can't find anything. have you heard about it?

If there's no info by january i'm going to import the Japan Deluxe Set (The one with the English Subs)

I first saw this series when they showed an episode or two at an anime convention 2 years ago. It looked real good then. I missed the first season, but I've now seen up to episode 15, thanks to a friend. Been watching the second season on adult swim. I love this show.

Al is my favorite character. He is just so cute. I bought the little pillow of Al's head the other day, plan on getting the Ed pillow soon.

The ending is sorted out in the movie, don't worry... although they seem to have left it open for a possible sequel, even though the director has said he's done with FMA and feels the story is finished.

The US Movie release date is October 3rd, 2006. Hopefully it'll have the option for Japanese language with English Subs, because I don't want to watch it in the awful dubbing!

I've followed FMA to the end, and it was pretty good. The story, characters, everything. Last few episodes made everything come together as it should and the final wasn't was I though it would be.

Overall, not bad.

Indeed. I know two people who jumped in in the middle of the series and where like "wtf?". It led to a lot more explaining than there was episode left..

I also have the manga of Full Metal Alchemist, they leave out some events in the manga.

sprog
12-04-2006, 00:39
That's because the series is "based on" tha manga, plus they made more episodes than there are issues of the manga, so they had to come up with their own stories later on in the series. There's too much in the manga to animate it all, you'd end up with 1hr30 episodes! (Which would be damn cool, but then they couldn't call the movie "FMA The Movie", as it would be only slightly longer!)

That reminds me... I must find the manga, I haven't found it in the UK yet and I can't order it offline (stupid damn rents!)

Well, I recently got volume four of FMA, and the side story, as well as the story it self, kicks alchemy, literally. Remember Lt. Hawkeye's puppy? You'll see him again in the manga, only once though.

18-04-2006, 06:08
Actually, MTV-Head, the full names are Edward and Alphonse Elric. Better names then Faiz.

I like this show. The only bad thing is that when you miss about 3 or 4 episodes, you won't get what's going on. You'll just be confused.

Careful with the Movie.
I've only found one English subbed "normal" video file (e.g. AVI, MPG, WMV) and it's very good until about an hour into the movie. The subber got lazy and some of the subs only flicker up for half a second or so, and then later on the subber copies and pastes the subs from about 10 mins back and doesn't change them, so for about 10 mins you don't know what people are saying.
If you've found a better one, then well done, I couldn't find any normal files apart from the one above.
I found one .mkv file with the subs encoded which needed a special player to view them, but when I wrote it onto DVD it wouldn't play the DVD (my DVD player plays all other DVD copies and creations I've made), so I was very disappointed...
I'll just have to wait until 3rd October and import it from the US

I haven't got around to watching it yet, but when I do I'll let you know if it's a better version than that or not. Hope it is though! :)

watching Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuuuutsu! 'tis a must watch, IMO. Too randomly witty and intelligent not to see just a few episodes. 'N I don't mean randomly witty like Excel Saga.. that's more of just random.

FMA was one of the best anime i've ever watched, and I really enjoyed it very much. The movie didn't really do anything for me though, even though it did tie up some lose ends, but otherwise I felt a bit disappointed with it. As for the manga, I keep hearing how it's so good and even better than the anime but I've yet to get around to reading it ^^

Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the best anime series ever made. It has well-balanced elements, like a great storyline, memorable characters and cute girls. (Hey, I'm not a pervert or a flirt. I just think Riza's cute, that's all.)

The series is cool. Who's RIza? the girl that remembers everybook? I thin Wenry is cute, specially in her mechanic gear :) the alchemy is fun! I wish i could do it

I've seen it all + the movie ( which in my opinion wasn't as good). This is my favorite anime (not that I have seen many) but FMA has that story in which makes u think and wonder what will happen next as well as what's going on. Usually in anime I don't have that feeling. + I always like all the stories about conspirecy (can't spell this right :( ) + it's not all that fairy tale like ... people die here and it makes u create some emotions that u never thought of having for them. Such as when that friend from Mustang died ( the one with picture of his daughter) I almost cried. Weird huh? :p

I loved Full Metal Alchemist , I thought the ending was kind of depressing but fitting.

I kind of didn't like how it got really complicated and convoluted towards the end. At first you could miss an episode or two and still be in the loop, towards the end if you missed one episode you were TOTALLY Lost.

I have seen it a few times through and I hate the ending. After the half way point it just started to become a less intersting show. The energy used to make alcemic transmutations possible is taken from something else as well. That is how the phil. Stone is made and how alchemy is used. The Isbalens are right it is an evil practice a cool practice lol but an evil one. Human transmutations can corrupt and rot the soul like Ed and Al's father.
