Does anyone here play Breath of Fire games? What makes the BoF series a cool RPG series is the story and the characters.
I have Breath of Fire III & V original and IV on my PC. I'm trying to get IV from eBay. Breath of Fire III is a nice game, but V really is boring and hard...:(
i have played breath of fire: dragon quarter, that was a good enough game but i keeped getting game over for using the main characters ability to much and if the meter reachers 100% he dies, havent played in a long time though and thats going from memory, but it was fun all the same

I loved Breath of Fire I, II, III, IV. I didn't really like Dragon Quarter, it was too farfetched from what the series was known for. Breath of Fire I was probably my favorite, with BOFIV right behind it.

Finally I got Breath of Fire IV from eBay today!. I played the game on my PC for almost 2 hours and I really wanted the original. It wasn't too expensive luckely like Star Ocean: The Second Story.
Man there are four of them out?!! Geez I'm still stuck in the first game since I have no clue as to where to go.. O_O. It's a great game, but man... talk about really having to play in the blind here... I'm lucky to get as far as I did. =/

Man there are four of them out?!!Five actually, but a lot of fans didn't like the fifth game, me neither. Still have to continue playing it.

I love BoF. I bought BoF 1 for the gba, loved that, and got one of em for the PS, can't remember which one, I just remember I was really into it but got stuck on a part and then lost the disk. Anyways, I really liked the BoF seris, just thinking it is making me have the urge to download one and play it.

I'm playing Breath of Fire IV now for more then 10 hours (played only Dragon Quest VIII and other RPGs) and so far I like the game. The battle system is an improvement from Breath of Fire III, with the combo's and rear rank. I'm now in Worent, just fought against Kahn who was easy.

Ive got Breathe of Fire II for the SNES and I loved playing it, great graphics(for the time, they were better than retro FF), great characters and storylines, a great game and if your a RPG fan and havent played this.....PLAY IT!
Breath of Fire 3 was the best in my opinion I loved the dragon Gene system wish they had continued on that aspect in 4 and dragon quarter hope they make a sixth one and that it isn't like 5... that was just irritating but I do admit it does have a bit of replay value in its design though

I really liked Breath of Fire IV, it had great graphics and a great storyline. Plus the dragons transformations were pretty awesome. Pity I sold it years ago.
BOF 2... awesome game. All I can say since I don't remember too much about it ^^;... aren't all the stories in the series really similar? Boys and dragons and what not? (not going to say more since I don't want to spoil anything XD)

Yep, in every Breath of Fire game you play as Ryu who can transform into a dragon.

I've played breath of fire III and IV.. but I haven't finish anyone of them... In BoF III I'm stuck in the tower where you have to find the right frequency(the sound thingy)... and in IV I'm stuck in the plains.. I've looked to walkthroughs but I can't understand it...lolz
I have been a fan of the Breath of Fire titles for quite a long time, and rightly so! Why do I like the games? Well, that is simple. I am an avid fan of all RPG’s, and this series sticks out pretty high above many others on the list. I happened across BoF III many, many years ago at a video store. I noticed this good looking game, and decided to check it out. Naturally, I fell in love right away.
I never had the chance to play the fine titles on the SNES, before I checked out the third instalment… Nevertheless, to this day I own all five titles, and I couldn’t be happier… Well, a return to the series’ true roots would be great for a BoF 6, but we shall have to wait and see… Anyhow, I love the great storylines present in the games, the graphics (as an old-school gamer should.) and the battle systems.
The forth game in the series is quite good, and some say it is much like what II was for the first instalment... Do I like it better than the third? It's hard to say; as I really liked the style of BoF III, and the Dragon system in that game was my favourite among all the different systems in each game. Here's my opinion on the series overall, with the first being my favourite:
2-3-1-4-5.
The first four are excellent in their own respects though, and the fifth one you either love it or hate it. Most tend to go for the latter; with few 'in the middle'.
Glad to know a few others think positively of the fine series. Granted, you may have to have been an old-school gamer to appreciate their original greatness, but that is not always the case, if you have checked out the earlier titles on the Snes. I prefer the first four games to the fifth, PS2 instalment, but such is true for most people...

Now I'm never gonna finish it :(
And BoF V is a tad to difficult for me :'(

Let's revive this topic.
I've continued with my Breath of Fire III save game from some years back. I didn't want to start over since I'm almost at the end of the game. I'm at Myria Station and just defeated Chimera. I can't really understand why I haven't played this game for quite long. Must be because of new games. ;)

I've (finally) finished Breath of Fire III shortly after my last reply. I'm going to start a new game of Breath of Fire IV shortly. Its too long since I played it. My playtime wasn't really much luckily.
BUT! My computer didn't like it <<;

A little late reply, but if your PC is good enough you can try getting a PSX emulator and download the game. Just look on some torrent sites.
Breath of Fire fanatic huh? Definitely a great serie and I especially enjoyed III and IV. I've always been a huge Teepo fanboy. Haven't played the game in ages though, but I seriously love the Gene system for dragon transformations. Unfortunately the dragons in IV were not as beatiful graphic wise as in III, but Fou-Lu simply rocked!

I own and have beaten BoF III and IV and, for a short time, owned the remake of BoF I on the GBA, but, unfortunately, the battery sucked and I couldn't play it for any more than a few hours without the save data disappearing. Thanks to that, I probably won't be able to play I or II unless I stoop to more. . . devious methods of acquiring them.
On a side note, I prefer BoF III over IV due to the sheer variety there is when making your dragon shapes. With a grand total of eighteen (or what I think it was) genes to pick from in combinations up to three genes at once, the possibilities would take a long time to discover all of the forms.
Despite their being on the PSX, they have decent graphics, especially considering their age, and they easily surpass some other RPG's from recent times.
