Just wondering what everyone thinks of the characters this time around? I personally think they all look rather cool except from Vaan cuz he looks like a girl. Moving on, I'm sooooo excited about Balthier, I know he wears multi coloured jewellery but I swear....so hot...anyone agree? P.S Ashe and Penelo look good too! :D
Go Ashe!
Whilst I don't think she's gonna be pushing at Tifa's crown, she's lookin' good!
Oh yeah, hearing rumours (OK, www.specialreserve.co.uk) that FFXII is looking at a NOVEMBER 05 release date in the UK! I'm assuming this is a mistake and therefore SR are EVIL, but if anyone's heard this might be true, let me know!

Yeah, I really doubt that. Most of the time the UK is like, the last to get their hands on games so uh...yeah, I don't even think it's done yet so I doubt it'd be released in Japan let alone Europe....But yeah,
Vann=Homo-ness
Ashe=Ha-cha-cha!
The characters look damn great in this game, they all look pretty good IMO =P But I think Fran would be the coolest out of those really, I dunno, I have that sort of feeling on it, really :P But yah =O
What is it with girly looking heros? (Girly Looking Heros...they could release a hip-hop album!) Since FFX the idea of a proper blokle for a hero seems to have gone right out the window.
Unless of course they're just making the main guy gay for political correctness! :D
One of the female characters in FFXII is called Penelo(I think that's what's she's called),and apparently, she's from the Hume race. She looks ready to kick anyone's @ss,lol.She's my favourite character by far ^_^.I seriously might get FFXII when it comes out in Europe. :D *Waits with fangirl excitement*

This is the problem I have with every female character in every video game:
Well, if you were running up regularly against huge hideous beasts with claws THIS BIG and teeth like THIS and acid slime and all that jazz, would you want to
a) Wear as much armour as you could possibly fit onto your body and still be able to move, or
b) Look like something off a lingerie catalogue?
So, is it easier to cast magic in a thong or something then?
So, is it easier to cast magic in a thong or something then?Maybe not, but they sure would look hotter doing it.

Yes, but if I WANTED porn, I'd just go on the internet.

I suppose characters in video games aren't supposed to think practical. :P

B) because of the following reasons
easier to cast magic.... easier to run trough hazardous area's easier to dodge attacks... etc. etc.
try to run from an attack if you have 15kg of chainmail on your body :D
(yes... it is that heavy... i know... i'm actually making a chainmail-shirt)
and if you get hit or poisoned.... there is always a counter-spell or item....
well hell yes i think it does, a girl in thin clothing casts almost always better magic instead of performing devastating physical attacks. look the white mage for example in FF4. but a mage is always more attractive then a normal female warrior (except for Paine) :P

I've run in full breast-and-back plate before, and that stuff's damned heavy.
easier to cast magic....
Standard clothing doesn't even count towards encumberance, why should it apply a spell failure chance?
easier to run trough hazardous area's
Whereas if you're wearing well-made armour, most 'hazardous areas' won't get you. And if you're talking about running through volcanic craters etc, whether you're wearing plate or just a thong, you're going to burn to death anyway
easier to dodge attacks...
You don't need to dodge attacks if you're wearing heavy armour because they all bounce off, so you can put all your attention into dealing out major damage
and if you get hit or poisoned.... there is always a counter-spell or item....
Which wastes your time throwing magic or items at your friends, when you could be exploding the enemy
Standard clothing doesn't even count towards encumberance, why should it apply a spell failure chance?Casting magic would require some form of mobility, which has been greatly diminished when you wear a full plate armor.
And no, I don't give a shit what D&D says about this.
Whereas if you're wearing well-made armour, most 'hazardous areas' won't get you. And if you're talking about running through volcanic craters etc, whether you're wearing plate or just a thong, you're going to burn to death anywayYou could debate what is best, tanking damage until you slice stuff up, or blow it up at a distance before they even know you are there. It's a matter of preference.

But not really diminished when you have something covering your arse

It's harder to be stealthy in a thong because you get scratches all over your legs from the foliage. A good pair of trousers'll see you right there
I hope to god I never have to go on a raid with you as my Bishop
That's OK, I always saw myself as more the templar or paladin type, breaking heads in the name of God (and I mean IRL, by the way :P). In a game, I understand the usefulness of having somebody capable of healing, but they can do all kinds of other stuff too - for example, in D&D, if I have my cleric running around, I'd rather have him still have actions available to turn undead or break out some of the offensive divine magic than pointlessly spend turns healing people because they felt that a thong is more appropriate adventuring wear than something a bit more :P
Well Tharrick, I think wether or not your right is irrelevant.
Girls in skimpy clothing will always feature in games like this to satisfy the drooling perverted teenagers who arn't yet old enough to go find some real porn.
And maybe the girls LIKE wearing that sort of thing! "What's the point of having a gorgoes arse if you don't show it off" and all that? I mean, you probably know how obsessed girls can be about their weight, so don't ya think 15kg of armour might lower their self esteem a bit when they look in the mirror? lol

The internet doesn't check your age before letting you into porn sites :P I've never had to show ID... I mean... a friend of mine has never had to show ID, because I'm not that perverted, no indeed
And maybe the girls LIKE wearing that sort of thing! "What's the point of having a gorgoes arse if you don't show it off" and all that?
In my experience, the only girls who actually wear clothes like that on a regular basis are sluts or hookers

Some blacksmiths are able to make armour that looks quite flattering
it doesn't actually matter it's a computer generated character, who cares? If you don't like it, don't play it.
Just sounds like a guy I knew who wouldn't play as Ivy in Soul Calibur 2 because her clothes were revealing, it's kind of pathetic to be honest. It's pretend, pixels...omg the horror...
They make the girl character look more appealing, I mean you say "can you cast faster in a thong?". Yet, no-one complains about the male side. They aren't always covered in games too y'know? or do you just prefer looking at half-naked men?. Games or well Game Publishers are just making games more appealing. Even dungeons&dragons are following the popular half-nekkid girls etc..
You just have to think it's a game, it's pretend you can't expect games to be based on reality all the time, there would be no point in playing them then.

Oh, I'll most likely play the game, I'm just to be honest disgusted with the number of sluts and whores in these games these days. I've noticed a lot of games have breasts as their main selling point. Ever play Red Ninja? It was one of the worst games I ever played, but I bet a load of people went out and bought it because 'ZomFG!!11! you can see up her skirt when she's swimming!!'
Whatever happened to having games with actual content?
Yet, no-one complains about the male side.
Hey, I don't exactly LIKE looking at men in loincloths
do you just prefer looking at half-naked men?
You already know how ****ing offensive I find that.
Games or well Game Publishers are just making games more appealing.
This should be done by spending time actually writing a half-decent game, rather than just filling it with jeuvenile panty shots and breasts
Even dungeons&dragons are following the popular half-nekkid girls etc..
Only in a couple of books, both of which are actually 18 rated and one of which is unofficial :P
Personally, I don't mind.
I mean, maybe the character designers just thinks the girls look cooler wearing skimpy stuff then donned in armour?
So long as the game is good though, it's not a problem. But when, as Tharrick said, the suggestive ladies are the ONLY selling point (BMX XXX is a prime example), I won't even consider buying it. Something like Final Fantasy or Dead or Alive, I don't mind.

can't wait till ff12 comes out in the uk though.

Hey, if you'd PLAY the game you'd say it does have content..Sure Ashe's clothes, if bunched together could barely cover a small dog, but that's beside the point. It's like she said, it makes the game more appealing. Me, for instance, I'm gonna connect to a guy who looks like a girl, his bossy yet caring friend, a bunny lady, a sky pirate very similar to captain Jack Sparrow (opinion), a guy convicted of murder, and a princess in skimpy clothing before I ever connect with a group of outcasts in 20 inches of steel. Just saying.
Also..leave Titus alone, Vaan looks like a chick, but Titus didn't.
Also, I'm obviously unskilled. ^ Someone tell me how to quote.
I like prince Rasler + Ashe ...^_^ ,..
I think what really makes Final fantasy XII cool is the sky pirates! The concept of airships and war makes it so cool and the sky pirates that pilot them are even cooler. It makes me actually wanna be one!

Well, I just rented the game and haven't had a chance to play it yet. Hope its as good as I hear it is :D (Though knowing Final Fantasy, I don't really doubt it :P)
No need to worry, Sephiroth912. I already finished the game and I must say it deserves to be called the greatest game in the history of great games. Down to the graphics, gameplay and plot. It's perfect.
What's more: the characters' facial expressions and movement are smoothened down to the very last detail.
I just like Fran cause she's funny :\
Yeah. I finished it, too. I agree it was probably the best game I've ever played. Though there was something that bothered me about it, that, seeing that there are people reading this that haven't beaten it yet, I can't say.
And will someone PLEASE tell me how to quote?
Well, Fran looks kinda sexy and her voice is hot too...
Hey, I'm not a perv! I just think she's cute.
lets see my thoughts on the characters
vaan= doesn't bug me that he looks like a girl it's just he has no importance whatsoever in the game and the fact that hes main character is annoying and his personality is pretty much standard for a games male character one tracked mind on the main objective and when he get's what he want's it's just ohh whatever im bored.
penelo= im neutral on her she is another useless characters in the game hardly any importance
balthier= fav character adds humor in any situations and is completely played out like captain jack.
fran= funny also in some parts smart and adds alot to the plot of the game plus she also seems to be very helpful in combat
basch= one word powerhouse
ashe= yuna with a little violent side to her
but penelo and vaan probably add storyline later on i don't know though since im still fairly early in the game.

well vaan seems stupid, penelo seems ready to stand up against anyone to save vaan (ohh stupid true love), Balthier is very good and so is Fran (my fav up to now), basch is quite useless at where i am cause there are many flans and since he is a guest i can't equip him a weapon which results into 0 damage..... ashe very good!!
